Baker Mayfield Seems To Suggest Bucs Need More Dawgs, Not Puppies

December 12th, 2025

Baker Mayfield

The Bucs like to brag loud and proud of their “I Am That Man” slogan for selecting players.

Their model is Lavonte David, who is a combination glasseater of a football player and an outstanding citizen.

Well, it seems their model might be easily conned, at least the glasseater part of it.

Yesterday’s depressing loss to the Dixie Chicks has the Bucs’ season on the brink of collapse and Todd Bowles said the Bucs have just enough players to drag down the team — guys who don’t want to do what it takes to be a top-shelf player. That is killing the Bucs, Bowles said

Baker Mayfield agreed.

“He just hit the nail on the head, questioning does it mean anything to the guys,” Mayfield said of Bowles. “Does this hurt enough for you to actually make changes, to come in, do the work that you need to do, to do the things that we need to do as a team to get better, fix these things, and win ball games.

“He repeated it.”

Mayfield said the Bucs have plenty of talent on the team. What they don’t have is enough heart.

“It really is as simple as that,” Mayfield said. “We have talent. Talent doesn’t get you sh!t, though. Doing the work and executing on game days does.

“We didn’t do that [Thursday]. Like I said, I did not do that.”

Mayfield’s heart was in the game but his head wasn’t as he said he didn’t do a bunch of little things that winning quarterbacks do.

Joe is pretty confident the Bucs will identify the dead wood in the locker room and if it doesn’t kill them on the salary cap, they will be shipped out, whether it is by release or a trade.

Roster movement is coming this offseason, more than in the recent past. And Joe can only think of maybe five guys on defense definitely worthy of retaining.

  1. Stallworth Says:

Big words from a guy that handed them the ball back late in the game with an INT and threw the ball behind EE for an incompletion that would have netted us a first down and sealed the game. Maybe he needs to find his inner dawg that he lost at the bye week.

  2. Bee Says:

The Bucs need to send Baker and two 1st round pocks to CIN for Burrow. If there’s a chance he wants out the Bucs need to do everything to get him.

Baker is no dog. He gave the game away in the 4th like he always does. Turned the ball over and put a terrible defense back on the field with an underthrown ball. Baker has been on 4 teams, hes had his chances to be great. He’s not.

  3. StrikingWombat Says:

This team has lots of problems. Our defense has always been about being nasty and bullying every team that they played. That mentality has been lost. We need someone on the defense to push over the Gatorade cart and start breaking stuff!!!

  4. 813bucboi Says:

he’s right…too many nice guys and nice guys come in last…

baker falls in that category lol…nice guy..yeah he has “grit” but is he a dawg…i dont think so…

the entire team is soft outside Mike….

reddick, zyon & winfield HAVE TO GO!!!!…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  5. ModHairKen Says:

Blaming this one on the QB? That’s BS. The Defense can’t hold a lead.

Players can’t get motivated? That’s bad selection and bad coaching.

They need to dismiss Bowles at the end of the season. Then they need the new coach to purge the unmotivated players.

They are now on rebuilding mode. But that does not mean 3 years out of the playoffs. 75% of the team is good.

Coen and Canales, as homegrown HC, have proven turnarounds can be quick.

  6. 813bucboi Says:

BUCS were scared and cut the only other dawg that was in the building: Shilo Sanders!!!

Kid needed to be developed but Shilo wouldve kicked some @$$ in the locker room and on the field…football means a ton to that kid….I bet he would snapped Zyon and Winfield around for loafing and playing scared

BUCS need to move on from Baker, Reddick Zyon and Winfield…..

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Destinjohnny Says:

    Draft better boys
We are having to sign jpp

Who is next sapp rice and brooks?

  8. Tucker Says:

No one is in a place on this team to point fingers at anything except maybe Mike point at everyone asking wtf they are doing other than that don’t want hear it everyone is underperforming from the coaches to the players this thing is cooked.

  9. Austin Says:

If you think Baker is the problem you are very narrow minded

He had a 7th round pick, and a journeyman WR as his 2 and 3 for multiple weeks

Offensive line has been a mess since week 1

No tight end playmaking to speak of

Has his 3rd OC in as many years

And has to overcome this defense

LEARN TO OBSERVE CONTEXT AND NOT JUST THE BOTTOM LINE

  10. Marky mark Says:

The int was bad. But a 14 point lead in the fourth should be enuf to win a game. Burrows is always injured. We don’t want him. Draft a qb and let Baker mentor him.

  11. ChattBucsFan Says:

Poor coaching with zero player development year over year is Bowles M.O. That combined with Lichts dartboard drafting and FA acquisitions has doomed this team. Don’t see them winning another game, so thankfully this regime will be toast.

  12. HeavyE Says:

Faker Please, You are the one that called out Tom Brady! Do you remember that? you are a puppy yourself, you throw high or low or behind and at times not at all, you had the ball with 2min left and couldn’t get a first down to end the game. So please SHUT UP!!! You know you can play like $hit every game, because you don’t have any competition behind you. Thanks to your buddies Jason and Todd, I hope by the end of the day, you are all gone……Go Bucs!!!

  13. Bee Says:

All the Baker bros said when he got his starting receivers back he’d ball out. We’ll, he made 3 good passes all night and inaccurate most of the night and almost got Mike injured.

Its not all Baker’s fault. But it’s his fault the offense is bad. Why? Well, he touches the ball every play for one and also he can change the play at the line if he wants. He’s in control out there and you see the results we’re getting. All he had to do was throw a catchable ball to EE on the crosses and the game is over. But a vet QB can’t make a routine throw.

    He’s not good.

  14. Marky mark Says:

Shilo was an eviction and fine waiting b to happen. He c cooked his own goose with throwing punches.

  15. SB~LV Says:

The chewing gum has lost it’s flavor on the bedpost over night

  16. lambchop Says:

First of all, screw this 3-4 scheme. I would rather go back to our 4-3 full-time and quit paying light-weight speedy OLBs who can’t push a boulder down a slope. Why can’t we go back to the Simeon Rice DEs? Just look at Nick/Joey Bosa, Aiden Hutchinson, etc. I hate this amoeba defense. If you don’t have one clear identity, you have nothing. You can’t expect dudes like JTS dominating NFL OTs. We play zone defense JUST to accommodate mediocre or below average OLBs. If we went back to a 4-3 and as long as none of the DBs are a locker room cancer, I would bet the DBs would look so much better. We just have 0 consistent threat on the edge. ZERO.

First order of business is to fire Todd Bolwes and resign Mike Evans. If we lose star players, you’re not going to attract any FAs unless the new HC has major clout aka experience that he could recruit players.

  17. Bee Says:

Baker mentor a QB? And teach them what? Lol….

  18. Dom Says:

The team could also really use a QB that is more accurate, doesn’t have happy feet, doesn’t create sacks, and actually makes everyone’s job around him easier instead of harder

  19. Blows sux Says:

Can you imagine what Tampa stadium will look like next year if we have the same idiot head coach? Look at the bright side, for the dozen or so who do actually show up you’ll likely be able to park closer to the stadium than you ever have.
Now imagine what it would look like if we hired Superbowl winning coach Mike McCarthy to coach the incredible talent we have on offense

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Baker made some mistakes….sure….and he acknowledged them. You can point to Zion costing us 4 points….players all around 2 fumbles with no recovery…..
Lots of plays go into losing games that way…

  21. It's Corn Says:

Pretty pathetic when a coach has so few answers he has to blame the players. Gruden used to do that too when his offensive “genius” didn’t work.

And on the offensive side, someone please coach Mayfield not to play panic-ball on every snap.

  22. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Been a fan since the first day of this franchise. This is eerily familiar to the Raheem year when they lost something like 10 straight after coming back from London. There always seems to be a recurring theme with this franchise of having quitters and loafers on the team. Glazers need to hire an independent firm to find a new GM and HC. Need to trade Zyon and AWJ in the off season.

  23. Mhystc Says:

We haven’t had Dawgs on either line since, Jensen on the oline and Suh on the Dline.

  24. ScottNFL Says:

Can we start talking about Licht some on these boards? How many misses has he had on his defensive picks over the past five or six years? And if you think it is coaching……how many of these misses have gone on and done well elsewhere? Is white even still in the league? Is Tryon still getting his 2.5 sacks per year? And does anyone think these guys they have now will go elsewhere and play great?

  25. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

We need a real QB competition next summer

  26. Joeybagodonuts Says:

Bad teams find a way to lose.

  27. #1bucsfan Says:

This is hard for me to say but Winfield. He’s bin out of position a bunch. Missing tackles bad angles getting beat like what happened to the Winfield who should have gotten defensive player of the year a few years back. Is it really once you get paid you quit ? He’s so talented. I don’t think at all we are getting the best out of Winfield

  28. FortMyersDave Says:

Why did it take until now to identify the deadwood? This problem probably has been festering for awhile. Even if there is no Hardy Nickerson in the locker room to call out the cancer, surely its presence has been known. Did Bowles think this deadwood could be “tolerated” or did he try to fix it behind closed doors and failed? Too bad, if Bowles had leadership in the locker room, maybe guys like Winfield would not screw up on the 4th and 14 and maybe Zyon would not draw those first down giving flags. Every week this has happened. Definitely something Bowles can’t fix, another nail in his coffin.

  29. Lessismore Says:

    It’s never just 1 play.
As far as the D goes – I can’t believe we whiffed on all of our D line and linebacker personnel.

After watching several episodes of Raise the Flag it seems to be more about player development and that’s individual accountability and coaching. Monte Kiffin, Joe Berry, Mike Tomlin and Rod Marinelli created a mindset and demanded excellence – boy o boy, was that a defense.

  30. ATLBUC Says:

You’re part of the reason why we’re losing so hush!

  31. ocala Says:

Baker did not play bad, yes, he had some off throws and had a poor read on the interception, but blaming the Bucs QB for this loss and most of the Bucs losses is ridiculous.

It is beyond obvious the vast majority of the blame on the Bucs loosing is on the Bucs head coach. He is a terrible head coach, and his defense is atrocious.

  32. FortMyersDave Says:

ScottNFL, I am sure that Bowles had input on who he wanted on defense. Now that does not absolve Licht but you cannot say Bowles simply took the players Licht drafted without giving him a shopping list first. Now as Bowles is about to be gone, the Glazers may also have questions for Licht but I would not be so keen to launch him too unless you want to go down the path Artie Blank and Rich McKay are about to do and fire both Rah and their GM.

  33. LVMYBUCS Says:

Can we talk about who will/can replace Bowles?

  34. Orlando Kevin Says:

During the lost decade, there was always a point within the season when you knew the team was done, changes needed to be made and fan focus shifted to the draft. This is the first time I have felt that way since the 2020 Super Bowl win.

This Atlanta loss feels similar to the Oct 2003 collapse to the Colts. Colts game we were leading by 21 points in the 4th and lost by a field goal in OT. Last night we were ahead by 14 points in the 4th, Atlanta tried hard to give us the win with tons of penalties and we lost by a field goal.

After the 2002 Super Bowl win, it took 7 years for the team to fire Gruden and reboot the team.

After the 2020 Super Bowl win, it’s been 5 years to feel like the team may need a reboot and that one is coming unless something materially changes quickly.

  35. 941bucsfan Says:

Bucs need to move on from baker.. I can promise you when he leaves we will not be watching him win a superbowl with another team.. but no chance Jason Licht does it, he is too buddy buddy.

  36. 813bucboi Says:

no one on the team will “throw punches” lol….

thats the issue….too many soft nice guys…no bad@$$es!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  37. Tucker Says:

Wonder who the glazers have called so far

  38. Upstate NY Buc Fan Says:

Good morning morning Bucs fans, I’m totally convinced. I think we have a gambling issue on our defense. No one gives up yards like that third and 28. Are you kidding me? I was sitting right there watching it in total disgust!!! i’m ashamed

  39. LFG Bucs Says:

A lot of good comments on here. Is Baker the reason we are losing? No, but he isn’t his play isn’t helping.
Is he a good QB? No. He is average. But good enough to win if the Bucs D could make some stops.
You can keep him, just don’t pay entertain the idea that he should be paid more.

  40. Couch Fan Says:

Lets start with the soft @$$ coach. You want a tough team then you need that in a HC. The team takes the identity of its coach and this is the perfect example of that.

  41. deez Says:

    @ModHairKen

motivate the players??????they get paid millions so gtfo.

  42. Orlando Kevin Says:

Correction…. It’s been 6 years since our 2020 SB win

  43. MelvinJunior Says:

Mr. Baker just needs to take a real good look in the mirror at HIMSELF. And, then SHUT THE HELL UP and worry about his OWN damn play. PATHETIC. 💯

  44. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Baker did not play bad, yes, he had some off throws and had a poor read on the interception, but blaming the Bucs QB for this loss and most of the Bucs losses is ridiculous.”

Turnovers directly effect win percentage, you guys ignore that because you want to and it’s weird behavior in my opinion. How tf do you not see the unit tasked with scoring point, in a situation to score more points, already up 8 points but giving the ball up in our own territory and here you are “that not that bad’. WHAT!? That’s literally worse case scenario, and I’m convinced you’ve bought into the “franchise QB” propaganda and think Mayfield is that caliber of player which he is NOT!

  45. MelvinJunior Says:

It all starts at THE TOP. Lickt and Bowles. Then, Baker. PERIOD.

  46. HeavyE Says:

We need new every thing, let’s start with ownership…… but please don’t move the team! Go Bucs!!!

  47. deez Says:

    @FortMyersDave

well todd wanted to keep devin white, but the gm overruled that, he would be better than what we have now.

  48. Bucs4Ever Says:

    Move the team? No way.

Why would they move the team? We have the best fans!

Sawyer Robertson looking good. I would try to get him.

    HC recommendaitons??

  49. Eckwood Says:

what the hell are you guys talking about except Mike?
We all know we don’t want Evans playing every offensive play, but there is not a player on this team that pulls himself out of a game more than Mike Evans !! I’m not necessarily talking about yesterday. He had a great game but when players watch him go in for two plays make a 13 yard catch and then pull himself out like clockwork. It’s not a good look !! that is not a warrior when it all cost mentality!! whether the fans or Mike like it. It does rub off on players just like the ice cream truck rubs off on players!! keep giving people passes. That’s exactly what you got last night……… let the coaches be in charge , when players are in charge bad things happen and that’s exactly what you got last night !!

  50. cmurda Says:

House cleaning. Purge the diseased coaching staff

  51. Capeaceiskaput Says:

Who would the five keepers be? If we are just looking at starters that are veterans, I would say Tykee, Vita, Dean, YaYa, and Kancey (still considered a starter even though he hasn’t played much).

  52. Dubcity6 Says:

I’m trying to see where the talent is.. cause I dont see it

  53. DailyRich Says:

I think Baker’s still hurt and is pushing too hard trying to play hero ball because he knows the defense isn’t going to bail them out.

  54. Davenport Says:

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

There seems to be very little accountability with this team and that is the responsibility of one man – the head coach.

This implosion shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, its been the hallmark of the Bowles era. Squeak by doing the bare minimum, win a bad division, get beat badly in the playoffs and call it a success.

Its well past time to move on.

  55. Pewter Power Says:

    @Bee

Don’t know you and don’t care but who TF gives up burrow a franchise quarterback for that and WHY??? Do they seem desperate? Get it together bruh besides the fact it fixes nothing wrong with this team it’s just a dumb thing to do if you’re building through the draft

  56. Bucinator Says:

Sure, Baker is throwing some bad passes. Have you ever had a 300lb madman stalking you face to face? We need some protection up front to give Mayfield some time. Sack after sack will eventually take its toll on any quarterback, and Baker is no exception. The front line continues to collapse on top of him. Need to fix both the D-line and O-line. Maybe a new coach would be the answer?

  57. cobbtownbucfan Says:

I know that Baker has had issues lately but place any quarterback in his place last night and tell me what would you expect. The offensive line look like Swiss cheese with the defense constantly swarming and sacking Baker. Who can get a rhythm going under those conditions. He’s likely hurt more than the Bucs are willing to admit. The problem lies much deeper starting with clown world superstar Todd Bowles who’s claim to defensive genius somehow eludes him come gametime. Bad coaching and uninspired players will make any QB look subpar.

  58. 813bucboi Says:

    UPSTATENY

    I dont doubt it

    something is going on

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  59. Kenton Smith Says:

WBL. Quit lying. The turnover was at the Falcon 33 yard line. They then had to drive 67 yards. I’m not defending Baker. The interception was indefensible.

  60. firethecannons Says:

“guys who don’t want to do what it takes to be a top-shelf player. That is killing the Bucs” Who are the players Bowles is blaming for his loss? I think Bowles defensive scheme is flawed, still cannot believe 3rd and 28, 4th and 15, and Bowles stops the blitz and reverts to soft cushion zone coverage for Cousins who always is able to carve that up. That was beyond believable–please ask him Joe why he gave away the game by calling soft zone coverage at those critical moments.

  61. Oxycondomns Says:

they didn’t fire bowles yet? mini bye perfect timing

  62. Oxycondomns Says:

    @dubcity

talent has nothing to do with leave kyle pitts wide open . most of talent is on offense which it should be if you have a defensive minded coach

  63. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Bucs need to move on from baker.. I can promise you when he leaves we will not be watching him win a superbowl with another team..”

After he leaves this team, he’ll either retire or will be holding a clipboard the rest of his career.

  64. GenocideD Says:

Vea, Winfield, diary, Parrish, Morrison, Gaines, cancy

  65. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Davenport

Licht as the “manager” of this team is responsible for what goes on..

Up to and including an incompetent, ineffective coach and a paper thin roster.

  66. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

LVD should be a HOF, but he’s cooked. Thank you for your service

    Reddick, goodbye.

Zyon McCollum and Antoine Winfield. Get paid, become ghosts. Would anyone be willing to take them off our hands with those fat contracts? Because they are not worth the money and they are bringing us down.

The team needs a complete overhaul on defense. And a new HC.

    Oof.

  67. Allen Lofton Says:

Joe – you are spot on. Get rid of the players who are hurting the Bucs even if it hurts Bucs performance next year. You can build a better team with fresh wood instead of old decaying wood.

The team needs to evaluate everything and make the tough decisions for the betterment of team success 🙌

A team united is essential for overall success.

  68. Mike Johnson Says:

We faithful fans are depressed and need a ray of hope. Show us you got a pair Glazers. FIRE BOWLES IMMEDIATELY!! I hate to say this as a life long Buc fan and devotee. But if Carolina beating us will make Bowles leave earlier? I’m all in. GO PANTHERS.

  69. Bucshot Says:

    Where is Veta?

  70. Show Me the TDs Says:

The fans that keep making excuses for Baker…SMDH.

  71. budlikedthebucarros Says:

    look in the mirror

  72. ATLBUC Says:

I don’t know why you guys are blaming Winfield and McCollum and Reddick for not being motivated to play in this worthless defense. If you were a computer analyst, how much would you be motivated to go to work every day if your boss didn’t give you a computer?
This is what these players are going through. Todd bowls is messing up their careers and their stats with his useless scheme and you expect these players to go out there week and weak out and play with their hair on fire when this defense hasn’t worked for years?

  73. ElioT Says:

They’ve lost 6 of their last 8 games!

They are who we thought they were.

Get ahead of it and burn it all down.

  74. Arn Platz Says:

Need more players like Ryan Jensen and Suh. Always played pissed. No one on the team like that today

  75. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

Maybe Captain Checkdown should stop throwing 2nd half INTs in close games.

  76. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

    LOL they extended Bowles.

They won’t fire him. They’ll “stay committed to continuity”.

Welcome to the lean years boys.

  77. SB~LV Says:

Who will be the next HC and what type of background will he have?
All you have to do is watch how the top teams play in this era of the NFL and you understand that offense is the priority by the rule structure.
Of course defense wins Championships still prevails but a team needs a offense to match!
Clean out the offices at OBP !

  78. Bud Says:

This team is only a 3 point game away, against a lowly tanking Jacoby Brissett led Arizona Cardinals team, from having a 6 game losing streak right now, and 1-7 since the 49ers win. Their only win being against the Saints right before the bye-week. None of this has happened by accident. They were just very lucky in the very beginning of the season. This is not a good football team. They are a poorly coached and a weakly ran football team right now, and it all begins at the top and then works it’s way down. You have a very complacent organization all the way around, but it all starts inside the FO with ownership and JL. The owners aren’t even Dawgs. They’re weak. They chose Todd Bowles over Liam Cohen. Enough said.

  79. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“The fans that keep making excuses for Baker…SMDH.”

Mind you, the INT to Mike he had 2 men over the top and 1 underneath, there’s only but so many defenders in coverage and that loser of a QB decided to force it to Mike FROM A CLEAN POCKET and making what’s a routine throw for most NFL starting QBs a terrible decisions from OUR QB.

    @Kenton

you can eat a frank, “our territory” as in just outside of FG range with more than enough time to milk clock AND make it 2 possession game, you’re boy basura

  80. Guy In the Stands Says:

I have been saying this for years (even when we won the SB with TB12)
There are no dawgs on this team.

Where the Sapp that would fight his own teammates if need be in the locker room; because they were soft. There is no Suh, 55, or Lynch to light that fire on this team. (defensively)

    1. yes talent is there (coaches are supposed to elevate talent not have the talent elevate the coaches)
    2. yes, we need dawgs. We have them on the O but the D needs at least 2 guys that come in and say this is “My Team” and check everyones card.

  81. Defense Rules Says:

Baker Mayfield … “It really is as simple as that. We have talent. Talent doesn’t get you sh!t, though. Doing the work and executing on game days does. We didn’t do that [Thursday]. Like I said, I did not do that.”

Great article Joe, and a great quote. I like what Baker said about ‘doing the work and executing on game days’; he right there, but I disagree with him regarding TALENT. Bucs IMO have a small, quick defense that constantly gets run over. This defense tackles very poorly & doesn’t seem to understand the value of ‘gang-tackling’. So tired of seeing all of them try to arm-tackle instead of tackling ‘through’ guys and wrapping up.

The lack of a pass rush has become almost comical, but what’s even worse is that Bowles’ version of ‘zone’ isn’t zone at all. It’s like he just placed a bunch of lawn chairs out there and dared opposing QBs to throw to the open spaces. I’ve never seen a defense so poorly executed. He apparently made it work when we had beasts like Suh, JPP, Shaq, RNR & others, but it’s obvious that when he doesn’t have top talent, his schemes are way outdated. Time to move on from him & his coaching staff.

  82. Daniel Farmer Says:

I want opinions…who are the defensive players Tampa needs to keep?

  83. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

A few players – Winfield first among them – were making heroic plays to snatch victories from the jaws of defeat. You take those when they happen, but that’s not a fundamental pillar you want to have as your means of winning week on and week out.

Consistent execution at a high level should be the plan. Then you don’t have to rely on that miracle play.

“We win on the miracle play” = an eventual regression to the mean and the Bucs have regressed hard.

  84. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Here’s a bad sign (as if we need more) – every single time they show Grizzard holding his play sheet, the sheet is trembling. I’ve seen that from day one and it continues. Our OCbis trembling on the sidelines. Great confidence booster aye?

  85. OneAndThree Says:

“Joe is pretty confident the Bucs will identify the dead wood in the locker room”

    Dead wood identified: Todd Bowles

You could have 11 Hall of Fame players on defense and he’d figure out a way to make them look mediocre.

If the players can’t be properly motivated, then find someone who can motivate them.

Enough is enough already. We are stuck in a loop of suckage.

Losing back to back games at home against two teams that were collectively 6-19 coming in is absolutely criminal.

    Pure unprofessionalism.

  86. Upstate NY Buc Fan Says:

I say it again after listening to Baker’s interview I think some of the defensive players have gambling issues. There is no humanly way they could be that bad as I watched it live last night terrible.

  87. MelvinJunior Says:

@ ModHairKen Says: “Blaming this one on the QB? That’s BS.”

No. It is absolutely, NOT BS. If you’re going to give HIM all the credit and praise for every time WE WIN, then you don’t get to have it BOTH WAYS. End of Story. Baker had EVERY SINGLE BIT to do with losing that game last night, than ANYONE ELSE did on the team. Period. HE is the starting QB for one thing, but HE deserves everything that he has coming to him, regardless. And, with THOSE ‘weapons’ last night… NO EXCUSES for his play. And, it is PATHETIC for those who REFUSE to hold him accountable. 💯 Baker needs to take a real hard look at HIMSELF.

  88. Ted Says:

Two straight loses to teams well below 500 is not good but the Bucs are a lower tier NFL team in the worst division in Pro Football. This time they will finish 7-10, not 10-7. Team has little heart and less toughness

  89. Booker Says:

Should this fall on the coach more for clock management?

All the Baker bros said when he got his starting receivers back he’d ball out. We’ll, he made 3 good passes all night and inaccurate most of the night and almost got Mike injured.

Its not all Baker’s fault. But it’s his fault the offense is bad. Why? Well, he touches the ball every play for one and also he can change the play at the line if he wants. He’s in control out there and you see the results we’re getting. All he had to do was throw a catchable ball to EE on the crosses and the game is over. But a vet QB can’t make a routine throw.

    He’s not good.

Your constant Baker bashing is getting old. Just post Me Not Like Baker

  91. SC Bucs Fan Says:

How they haven’t fired Bowles already amazes me. Lose to the Saints and Falcons. At one point does he have to pay for being a terrible coach.

  92. nobs Says:

The Bucks real problem goes back to the beginning of the year when their offensive line was intact. It has not been since what roughly game three you have a different offensive line every week most of them are not NFL worthy. When Baker had the time in the beginning of the season, he was awesome. We also didn’t have wide receiver injuries that we had not to mention running back. If you straighten out the offensive line and get our starters back, we will be fine. The defense itself just totally sucks. I’ve never seen so many easily completed passes in my life and I’ve been watching NFL football for 50 years. We have no pass rush. None we need pass rushers to make the secondary better. That is the main problem with the secondary in our defense no pass rush I like bowls as a person although I don’t know him personally he seems like a good human being but in the NFL that doesn’t cut it if there are these players who are not coming in and spending the time watching a film and practicing to get better then dump their asses. I don’t care who they are. They’re getting paid too much money to not do their job if you and I didn’t do our job we’d be fired instantly

  93. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

Bowles drafts and develops defensive backs. Pretty much nobody else. Definitely not QBs.

Say what you want, but they botched developing KT big time – and then threw him under the bus saying it was on him. It was bad form.

Now even the DBs they draft and develop look mediocre. Dennis looks like a matador out there OLAY on every other play. LVD is falling off the cliff as we speak. We all know they can’t rush the passer.

Look at the Bowles defensive philosophy – run stopper dawgs up front + playmakers in the defensive backfield. Then you got 2 hybrid sideline to sideline LBs (that’s the plan anyway). Pipe hitting ninjas on the dline and speed everywhere else.

Problem is… Every opposing QB knows where the gaps in the zone are and if the blitz doesn’t hit home DBs get toasted. Pitts ran WILD against mismatches on every play.

Then we got Mayfield. The most over hyped QB in the NFL who disappears for games at a time. That’s how you go 2-6 over an 8 game stretch.

WHAT!? That’s literally worse case scenario, and I’m convinced you’ve bought into the “franchise QB” propaganda and think Mayfield is that caliber of player which he is NOT

    Warren:
You convinced me that Baker and his 90.0 passer rating where he threw two TD’s and two two point conversions is beyond atrocious. Bucs defensive players should be livid at Baker.

  95. Jack Sparrow Says:

Final 3 minutes of play…. RUN for 0 yards, RUN for 3 yards and then sacked and then punt………. what an awful team !!! Only happens with the BUCS.

  96. jcscycles Says:

The Denver Broncos were worse of than the Bucs are three years ago when Sean Payton came in as coach. It took two years to get rid of dead weight Russel Wilson and others, and then get several players that were “his guys” as well as make smart draft choices.

This year they are 11-2. Get someone who is like Sean and things will change. But it will take more tna a year with coaching changes. Sean cuts players quickly that do not play hard.

So giving up two first round draft choices for Joe Burrow – who I doubt the Bengals would let go of – is a fantasy. And would hurt the Bucs in the near future. You need those to rebuild.

  97. TheScourge Says:

Mayfield isn’t the problem. It’s a brittle weak minded roster that hasn’t been held accountable for 3 years. Anyone that watched the last two games of LAST YEAR saw this coming. I’ve been wanting a change at the coaching level since mid season last year but I actually felt for Bowles last night. Most of his players are spineless and that falls at the feet of the front office.

  98. Orlando Kevin Says:

During the lost decade, there was always a point within the season when you knew the team was done, changes needed to be made and fan focus shifted to the draft. This is the first time I have felt that way since the 2021 Super Bowl win.

After the 2003 Super Bowl win, it took 6 years for the team to fire Gruden and reboot the team.

After the 2021 Super Bowl win, it’s been 5 years to feel like the team may need a reboot and that one is coming unless something materially changes quickly.

  99. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Baker needs to take a real hard look at HIMSELF.”

Go look at his splits, IDK how a starting NFL QB gets WORSE the more time he has in the pocket.

Not even slightly worse either there’s at least a -10% difference in his completion % every year here between having 2.5 seconds to throw.

So all the “he has no time in the pocket” as if his numbers are better with more time is absolute dogs#@t.

  100. Toddler Bowls Says:

Suh…… He’ll bring the attitude that we need the locker room.

  101. BigBoiBuc Says:

If we draft one offensive player in the next draft Jason should be fired. We are ok on offense. Think about it
QB – when protected , Hes ok. Good enough to win
RB – solid all 3 deep
TE- not great, solid. Serviceable for this offense. Have defensive needs
WR – solid. Even w/ME13 aging.
G’s- good enough to win when Cody gets back
    T’s – solid

    Now defense:
Edge- keep Yaya, cut Reddick, DRAFT
DT – DRAFT. Cancey injury prone
    ILB – DRAFT
CBS – keep Parish, clean house. DRAFT
S’s – keep Tykee, trade others. DRAFT

    Kicker – solid
    Punter – good enough

  102. Adrnagy Says:

    I love all this drama.

  103. Redzone Says:

Lots of good takes which is the problem- fans diagnosed the issues way before the franchise and are showing their apathy through attendance numbers

I would absolutely trade Baker and 2 1s for Burrow but Baker can be a winner he’s just in the next tier (if Jaylen Hurts can win a SB so can Mayfield – just Ames more surrounding him

We truly don’t know who’s good on this defense bc of the scheme – but they’ve committed a lot of cap and it’ll b tricky t navigate and not go backwards

I think the franchise is in the Dungy-Gruden transition stage – don’t panic – get fresh eyes to evaluate and find an identity to lean on

I don’t think Gruden or McCarthy is the answer – need the right hand man of McVay or Ben Johnson – or go to the college ranks and grab an innovator like Coen

In this age where is the AI app that can study and mimic the scheme tendencies of coordinators? Seriously

  104. BayouBullet Says:

Cousin’s threw for 373 yards and 3 tds… Kyle Pitts had 166 yards and 3 tds… First TE to do that since 2000 I think… Atlanta had a 3rd and 29 with mere seconds on the clock and no time outs yet there is countless morons on this site calling for the quarterbacks head… Total fffing morons that deserve the 💩💩💩 team they support.

  105. Aaron Says:

I think Baker has to play better – he’s not a put the team on my shoulders and will them to victory type of QB. Saying that, I don’t think his interception was that bad, a professional DC called a coverage to help under neath on outside throws and a professional defender made a play…hat tip and move on. The throw to Embuka now that was bad…you’ve got to make that throw!!

I still think you can build around Baker, I don’t think I can stomach gambling with a rookie QB again.

    Go Bucs!!

  106. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“You convinced me that Baker and his 90.0 passer rating where he threw two TD’s and two two point conversions is beyond atrocious. Bucs defensive players should be livid at Baker.”

How’d that INT into triple coverage lower Midfields’ passer rating? Can’t forget the 15 completions wasted reps or throwing a ball 9 feet in the air to a 6’5 WR and almost getting him re-injured? How do you think Josh Allen or Mahomes or Lamar Jackson or for that matter Jacoby Brissett performs with Evans, Godwin, JMAC, & Egbuka in the lineup?

Do you even realize Tyler Shough finished with a higher passer rating than Baker did in the Saints game and he didn’t even throw a single pass for a TD, but did throw a pick? That’s the value of that dumbarse metric, it means nothing outside of marketing for the QB position.

  107. Adrnagy Says:

It’s simple. Licht missed hard on drafting characters guys. Vs players. He got it right with luke. Mauch Barton. . Oline needs that nasty attitude. But on defense … huge missed.
Licht knows how to draft offensive. Not defense.

  108. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“(if Jaylen Hurts can win a SB so can Mayfield”

    LMAAAAAAAOOOOOOO WHAT!?

  109. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

If Baker would’ve been accurate on that last 3rd down pass to Egbuka and not thrown behind the receiver, we would’ve sealed the game on that play.

Lack of execution in clutch moments is killing this team more than anything else. 💯

  110. Kenton Smith Says:

Hurts threw 4 picks and had a fumble for a turnover last week. You need to regulate the meds WBL.

  111. garbs65 Says:

We need to shift the conversation to the draft and how the new coach can turn this defense around. Baker is playing like he’s back in Cleveland. I was at the game last night, the OL sucks. Baker was constantly under pressure but even when not, his accuracy is way off. idk, i watched Caleb Williams last week scrambling around and throwing dimes…there is either something wrong with Baker physically or this is his norm. I hope he’s hurt but can heal. For a team with such promise going into this season, it’s amazing thinking about how many holes we have to fill on both the OL and the entire defense. No way we fill these holes in one off-season. idk. Such a disappointing season.

  112. buccintimeforchanges Says:

Time for Jason Licht to get the axe. Todd too.

Why are we paying Arians to go on ESPN and hate on us?

The glazers are ultimately responsible for this ish show.

  113. Davyboy🏴‍☠️ Says:

    Nah, Baker ain’t no dog…
Before he was hurt he was only defeating the leagues best defenses, that’s all. Let me see, yes yes, Houston has the leagues best defense and he dogged them with that last minute drive just like he did 3 others. Everybody was talking MVP for sure. Then the injuries. When he is healthy he is as much of a dog and more so than any other quarterback. His problem is he won’t sit when he’s hurt, that’s his only problem. When healthy and that’s not very often I’m afraid with the abuse he takes, he is top 5 and don’t forget it. There is a reason he sit at #1 for 5 weeks this year on the quarterback rating at nfl.com. Baker is the best, you just have to protect him like any other quarterback and we just can’t seem to do it. Sit Baker, heal up. Come back and shut them all up….again

  114. AnonymousBUCsFan76 Says:

    Reality Check…

No one should be surprised; Todd Bowles is a below .500 coach for his career. He inherited a Super bowl team but seems to average 8 or 9 losses a season. Todd should’ve been fired last season period (after getting swept by the Falcons). Cohen should’ve been our HC, but we extended Todd smh. The NFC South has been the weakest division in football since Matt Ryan and Drew Brees left so we’ve been winning the division by default. As for Baker, I love grit and “moxy” but his tendency to turn the ball over at the worst possible time can no longer be ignored. It’s time to draft a young QB to prep for life after Mayfield; With that being said, QB is a position Jason Licht seems to have a problem drafted.

    To be continued…

  115. Upstate NY Buc Fan Says:

Houston, I think we have an issue! Who lets the other team get away with 19 penalties fourth and 28 on the last day of the game and loses.. like I’ve been posting all morning. I was there last night. Something fishy is going on. I think we have a gambling issue. I don’t care what anybody says.!!!

  116. TheVerv7 Says:

Have the cannons been prepped yet? Time to start talking prospects.
