Injuries Have Finally Caught Up With Bucs

November 9th, 2025

Injuries fully felt.

Is there any doubt on the planet that the Bucs are missing their hurt offensive players?

“This Joe” thinks the Bucs defense is playing good — not great — but certainly good enough to win. The offense? Yikes.

The Bucs’ first possession Sunday, they looked sharp. The rest of the game, it appeared the only thing the offense practiced last week was the opening drive.

Take away a Hall of Fame receiver, a Pro Bowl receiver and one of the more dynamic running backs in the game, of course your offense is going to feel the pinch.

Joe can’t blame the offensive woes all on the shoulders of Mike Evans (no pun intended), Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving. But the time has come to turn the page.

Evans might return late in the season or he may not. Godwin, who knows? He’s been rumored to possibly be out until December. Irving is even more of a mystery.

So the Bucs better figure out in a damn hurry how to move the ball and score more. Up next is Buffalo and then Los Angeles. Time for guys getting paid seven figures to figure it out.

  1. LVMYBUCS Says:

Thats just a excuse we have plenty of talent to win games the only injury is the brain cells in this coaching staff

  2. SBucs Says:

Every team in the league has major injuries. the Bucs are just prone to use it as an excuse.

  3. RagingBrisket Says:

Oline gave up the booty like the rent was due. These boys are getting embarrassed up front. How many time was our overrated center laying on his back while Baker is running for his life.
Stop making excuses for bad football.

  4. Miller5252 Says:

I agree that not having your top 2 receivers and running back is making a difference. Saying that, the 49ers were missing everyone except their RB and their coach still put them in positions to excel and win games. White use to be a monster catching out of the backfield and it’s hardly used. EE still had a big game and I saw multiple times while Baker was trying to force the ball to him others were open. Good coaching can find a way to cover up injuries.

  5. Rod Munch Says:

But the time has come to turn the page.

    ———

    Huh?

You’re in the middle of the season, there is no turning the page until the offseason.

As for Godwin and Bucky, again, neither are on IR, so the Bucs expect them back very very soon. If not, why are they not on IR? If the medical staff is that incompetent, that they’re missing recovery windows by that huge of a margin, then they need to be fired.

As for Evans, typical recovery time is 6-8 weeks, so it should be expected that he is back, unless the team is lying, deceiving on his injury – and frankly, they probably are considering how they have handled every things else – so never mind, you’re probably right.

  6. Buddha Says:

Once the injuries mounted we were no longer capable of running a diverse offense. Without our second best defensive tackle, our best running back and our top three wide receivers from last year, we just don’t have the fire power we need. The team is playing hard, but the talent isn’t what it was last year. We still might get to 11 wins but unless the wounded return that’s about it.

  7. Jack Sparrow Says:

Yay !! the Pretenders !!! Excuses excuses…. even the Patriots have their starters injured….. 🤡

  8. Bosch Says:

The Bucs defense gave up how many plays of 50+ yards? And you call that good enough to win? In what alternate reality do you live in, Joe?

  9. Bucs Reality Check Says:

    TERRIBLE COACHING. It’s obvious.

Grizzard is just not a good Offensive Coordinator.

  10. jcscycles Says:

What hurts is not having Mauch downfield blocking. Little things like that make a difference. Feeney started over Haggard. Don’t understand why.

  11. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

The F-ing HC has caught up with the Bucs. Fire this fraud of a coach

  12. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Joe getting bribes to defend the garbage HC that we gave

  13. Let ‘em bake Says:

The long game… even at 6-5 , the division win is still likely. If Bucky and Chris return for the last 6 games, all will be well. I still think Mike returns sooner than expected.

  14. Gofortheface30 Says:

No no no, we have Kam, Tez and Shepard. We’re good remember?!?! It’s ok, Evans and Godwin and McMillan with a broke ass neck will TOTALLY be back

  15. Rod Munch Says:

God damn, the crybaby stuff is just over the top. The Bucs lost to a team that is better right now. Go ahead, get it out of your system, then shut up already.

  16. Deez Says:

Bro we are 6-3, you would think we are the falcons right now lol

  17. I Remember 21 Says:

Injuries ALWAYS have an impact. The starter is the starter for a reason. But GOOD coaches make the most of what they have. We certainly didn’t do that today. One of the clearest examples to me was the screen pass to Durham. He’s probably our least quick TE. It makes NO sense. He’s a jump ball or deep ball TE. And we somehow reverted to the Leftwich “pound it up the middle on first down” strategy. 🤬

  18. Ufc e Says:

Good thing we traded for a receiver oh wait

  19. 76doug Says:

The game changed right before halftime when the genius dc had Nelson drop in coverage to cover the tailback on 3rd and 8 or 9 and he picked up 15. They score and get a touchdown to start 2nd half, game over. 3 tds of 65+ yards is on the genius dc.

  20. Bosch Says:

SBucs: Are the Bucs using injuries as an excuse? I’m hearing things like failed execution, failed fundamentals and the likes. I don’t call that excuses.

It is many of the fans posting here that are making the excuses. And as fans, we are allowed to do that.

  21. Destinjohnny Says:

    McWilliams injury was the killer.
Need to have the wideouts in pre season not go up to get those noodle arm under throws

  22. 941bucsfan Says:

Everyone here loves to ignore facts and blame coaching.. the fact is the bucs are 6-3 with a very very injured team. Last I checked 6-3 is damn good.. and yes the bucs beat a good seahawks team on the road!! And yes the bucs beat a good 49ers team(who the same people here say we beat them because most of their team is hurt)…. WHAT? Lol. You dont like bowles we get it.

But imagine if we let Chris godwin and mike evans walk in the offseason. And they were healthy and balling with another team, you would be ready to tear ray jay down.. just like some of you were ready to talk nonsense before liam coen blew a 19 point 4th qtr lead today.

  23. James west Says:

Should’ve could’ve addressed the problem before the trade deadline , here comes the inevitable mid season slump, as always, on bowels, the lack of foresight before the deadline square on lichts shoulders, folks baker is still injured, other than ebuka, not much going on, yeah tez is finding paydirt, but come on, not going to win in this league with 2 rookie WR’s starting, no pass rush per say, and rookie play caller, we may not make the playoffs, luckily our division opponents are weak, as always go bucs

  24. Merryplanker777 Says:

O line was seriously outmatched, but Bucs put up enough offense.
The defense actually looked worse. Giving up 3rd and 4th downs as well as super long plays.
I expect more from the Bucs D. That said nice end zone int! Still leading Division.

  25. Bucsfan951 Says:

Meanwhile, the gm continued to sit on his hands at the trade deadline. No help at receiver, no help on the offensive line, no help at rb. Today’s game would have been a statement win and the Bucs shat the bed.

But for real, imagine if Licht hadn’t drafted Egbuka? Yikes!

  26. Adam’s Angry Says:

It’s time to lose Godwin and Evans and move on. Better to move on too soon than too late.

  27. Brevard Buc Says:

We are in the midst of the annual Bowles swoon…

  28. Colonel Angus Says:

Pity party tonight! Cry it out you mentally weak sissies. Got them snot bubbles and everything, lol.

  29. 813bucboi Says:

No one is talking about the lack of running the ball

White and tucker ran well today

Grizz needs to stop abandoning the run

    GO BUCS

  30. StucBuc Says:

This is were Jason Licht failed. He did nothing.

  31. LANshark Says:

Too many explosive plays given up by the defense. The offense is hurting for sure, but the bottom line is you can’t give up 3-4 50+ plays per game and expect to win.

  32. Hodad Says:

Joe, this defense gave up 436 yards 4 explosives, 2 long TD runs! That’s not good defense. I’ve been watching pro football for a very long time, it’s white rino rare to see two long TD runs in a pro game. This defense sucks!!!!

  33. Kenton Smith Says:

We’re barely halfway through the season. We will never, ever win a playoff game with one sack and 3 breakaway plays like we gave up. The team lost the game today. Not our incredibly banged up offense that lost another starter today. The defense played good defense overall today. We only gave up 450 yards and touchdowns bookending halftime. Touchdowns! Offense gets a 10-7 lead halfway through second quarter. Offense after getting that lead didn’t touch the ball again until we were down 21-10 in the third quarter. Offense needed the defense to help carry us some this year. That didn’t happen today no matter how anyone, including Joe, wants to spin it.

  34. StucBuc Says:

@james west spot on. Jason failed this team standing and doing nothing. Not sure what he sees that will be ok going forward. Bucs are depleted. Hate to say it but bills and rams will kill this team – 0-3 out the bye. Sad.

  35. Colonel Angus Says:

If we did trade for a player, he wasn’t playing today anyways. Especially on defense. They’re not putting a guy out there on 3 days of learning the playbook.

  36. BucsfanBrennan Says:

The Patriots scored 3 50+ yard TDs but the defense was good enough? Are we delusional? Don’t get me wrong, the offense wasn’t good enough, but our defense was god awful all game. Anytime we started to weave are way back into contention, the defense would give up a 50 yards TD. Every time I start to think Todd Bowles isn’t that bad, crap like this happens

  37. heyjude Says:

It was a close game. Can’t wait for MIke, Chris, Bucky, and others to be back and 100%.

  38. Rod Munch Says:

All the same dramaqueens yelling the loudest about the season being over and everyone needing to be fired – I guarantee you those are the same dopes who were talking about the Bucs won the Super Bowl because they were #1 on the week 6 ESPN power poll, and they were absolutely the people chanting MVP a few weeks ago.

    Just chill out people.

The Bucs got beat by the better team today. That’s all that happened. If Bucky, Godwin, Evans, Reddick, maybe even Kancey and McMillan are back in the playoffs, this is all very different. Those guys make a lot of money for a reason, saying next man up is what you do when you have no choice and nothing interesting to say – the Bucs need those guys back, then the Bucs are the better team.

  39. adam from ny Says:

    consider this:

in the past month, we have only beaten one team…the saints…

    just something to ponder

  40. BucU Says:

Stop saying we’re 6-3 and everything is fine. You know and I know that this team will be 6-5 and floundering two weeks from tonight.

  41. adam from ny Says:

time to wake the f up…

the schedule is ramping up for a bit

  42. Beeej Says:

Lions figured us out–the only real threat is EE, so double him and play tight man on everyone ELSE, mebbe spy Baker. No one gets open before the O line breaks down

  43. FortMyersDave Says:

Running game abandoned early and Bucs became predictable. Dolphins ran all over the Billz, how mych you bet our OC will do 2 things next week, ignore the run if the Bucs fall behind, or just call it in predictable situations, short yardage where he will have it run behind the 2 week links on the line, Barton and Feeney. The play calling is predictable. Oh yeah, how about all those sacks by your D Todd!

  44. Gofortheface30 Says:

IF godwin comes back. IF Bucky and Evans come back, and IF they even do – will they be productive. Quick: tell me the last time Evans and Godwin were 100% healthy and playing on the field at the same time e without looking it up on google. Even better – tell me the last time those two played a full season? Then you have another commenter with a candy ass comment about “well what if Godwin and Evans are balling out for another team.” Lmao ok and? And how long will that be before they’re both injured. WHYYYYYYY do fans emotionally hold on for dear life like they’re caring for their dying wife. Their injuries, LIKE ALWAYS are neutering the offense. Belichick did it right – he moved on from guys the moment anyone was a step past their prime. And just what do you people expect anyway if Godwin comes back? The Seattle Godwin that looks as if he runs about a 5 second 40, dropping key passes? Do we really think we’re gnna get 2018 Godwin

  45. StucBuc Says:

Stick a fork in them. This team is done. The next two games will hurt the Bucs playoffs and moral even more.

    ———–

Probably, it’s the record I always thought they’d have after 11 games.

Then after that they should get back on track, most likely end with 11 wins.

    @Bills L
    @Rams L
    Cards W
    Saints W
    Falcons W (flipping this to a W)
    @Panthers L
    @Dolphins W
    Panthers W

    11-6

Going 5-1 down the stretch while getting back Evans, Godwin, Bucky, etc is a good way to go into the playoffs.

  47. Oldbucsfan Says:

Too many injuries for the defense also? What is their excuse? We’ve been lucky to win those games. We can move the ball pretty well at times and same goes for defense, it’s all spotty and very inconsistent. Injuries or not, this team is just not as good as we thought they were. Baker is still injured, he refuses to scramble anymore, and, they refuse to use Tez, idk why, and no, last ditch efforts don’t count.

  48. unbelievable Says:

I’m sorry but injuries are no longer an excuse when you could have traded for offensive help.

I told you several weeks ago this team was not serious about competing for a SB this year; and they’ve proven that.

  49. unbelievable Says:

Going 5-1 down the stretch against inferior opponents does nothing but build up false hopes for another 1st round loss.

Color me unimpressed with what will be a massive underachievement of a season.

  50. infomeplease Says:

The O didn’t play as bad as the D. 3 plays for over 50 yards ea! 2 for TDs …Take away 1 of those plays and the Buc’s probably win! Just sayin’… If VV50 sacks their QB in the 4th qt. But no…

  51. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

The defense sucked balls today! The offense was somewhat offensive as well!

If they get on a run AND are getting guys back, that is what would make it different.

Now if we’re being lied to and we’re not getting guys back, then yes, I agree with your hopelessness.

  53. Merryplanker777 Says:

Certainly D was worse than O today. O was not great, but Bucs fans depend on and expect great D, particularly with a Defensively minded HC.

  54. Not Says:

Finally ???? The offense has been a dud for three games now .

  55. garbs65 Says:

We don’t have the defense to make a deep run. Absolutely no edge pressure. And no one is coming off IR to be a savior. You can only blitz so much and good teams know how to game plan to beat blitzes. Our OL is hurting and now Bredesen is out? OL can’t catch a break. Baker is not himself and is obviously playing hurt. I don’t see a victory in the next 2 weeks….Buffalo will be on a mission after getting embarrassed by the Fins. And the Rams look great…..but anything can happen. Go Bucs!

  56. Toilet_Bowles Says:

Very few teams can lose most of their best offensive weapons and not have a big drop off. These Bucs coaches are going to have to figure out something ingenious. The defense is a little more concerning. There are some holes on this defense, but if you can patch them it would be a Top-5 defense easily.

On the bright side, it looks like Mayfield has been getting better each year and the lights have really turned on for him. He can’t keep getting hurt though. With better depth, this team should be able to make a SB run… in 2026.

  57. jcscycles Says:

It was interesting to get the perspective from a Patriots website. Pats converted at only a 33.9% rate on offense. What really did it for them were the explosive plays. Other than that not very impressive.

They felt fortunate – lucky – to have pulled out the win.

  58. Jeffrey Becker Says:

Brederson? Can Luke play guard so Heck can play OT. Can’t believe we didn’t add OL depth.
