If you’re the Falcons, how in the world do you not know you’re going to lose that game when you score a TD with 1:40 to go. In the modern NFL, you have to run the clock way down due to the stupid kickoff rules that need to be changed back.
Plus in OT they win the toss and take the ball first instead… not sure if Morris knows this but they changed the rules so both teams get the ball at least once.
Anywho, what a completely predictable and enjoyable loss by the Falcons. Some real dummies. LOL!

I’m glad they didn’t. I get Paramount+ with my phone plan. I paid for FOX+ for a month, and for the first time most of our games were on Paramount+…which also has the best shows.

That was a great drive. Baker had two guys open on that TD pass – e2 under and someone crossing, I think Kam, in the endzone. Important because the play design actually looks like we’re not stuck in middle school mode. Hopefully this is more than a nice opening script and Wiz Kid spent the bye week rewatching tape on how Coen was calling games.

But overall, it’s some bad versions by Baker and some awful playcalling by Grizzard that have us losing the game. Defense has been good enough.

But I don’t like about our defense was there was a little play where it was an outlet class the tight end Anthony Nelson was pass rushing and clearly was going to get nowhere near the quarterback it seemed too easy that he got left through untouched he should have realized that that moment that the play was going to go to the area he just vacated. That was just bad situational awareness.
Overall the defense has not played badly. If you take away that one long pass where Morrison muffed and it went for 70 something yards we have played pretty well defensively. You have to realize there is a wet field which often helps the offense because they know where the play is going.
But I think our offense is what really concerns me. We have nobody really to throw to out of the book. Kate Otten sort of right now reminds me of a lumbering tight end who is good for five to seven yards. But he has no juice once he catches the ball. I really feel like Devin Culp is a weapon that I do not understand why they aren’t using he is fast he is fresh legs he’s shown last year he can catch and he would be a real mismatch going against these linebackers especially on a teen who is very bad against the Titans like the Patriots.

Winfield is a game changer, period. Even HOF’er John Lynch gave up plays, it’s happens. Diggs make an pretty remarkable catch. When Evans makes insane catches it doesn’t mean the corners and safeties he’s going against are bums and overpaid.
On the 1st TD, that was a crossing route in strict man to man defense with no help, the safeties didn’t screw up their angles or anything, they weren’t involved with the play. That’s the risk of running a high risk defense, which the Bucs did on that play – if you have a RB that I think actually ran a 4.28 if I remember correct, if that guy beats your coverage and gets to the edge, they’re gone.
The Pats called some really good plays in the first half – they get paid as well. The only thing that first half did was make me long for Coen, because this is what he was doing to everyone every week. Every time I listened to other teams podcasts it was people raging about how their defense sucked, and how no one did their job, etc – that’s what opponents do to you when they have a good OC. Something the Bucs are missing right now.

I don’t think Baker was the issue on his last two throws.
On the one, 65 got completely ran over and Baker had to get rid of the ball early or he was going to be sacked.
On the 3rd down throw, the safety was coming over the top, he had to lead to the outside or it’s a pick. Might have looked like a bad throw, but it was the correct call – at least to that receiver. But not sure if he had anyone else open, from what I could see on TV, it looked like the other guy guys outside were covered.

Injuries are a key issue no doubt but the offense looks anemic. Outside Egbuka there is nobody you have to concern yourself with.
I keep yelling for Culp as he is one of our biggest fastest offensive players but we keep throwing to Otton and even Durham.
Hit him with some slants and he will chew up yards after the catch.
Grizzard is not creative enough to overcome our missing weapons. Liam Cohen was much better. Good news is if he improves nobody will want him as head coach next year.
And if we don’t turn things around our next head coach will have higher draft picks to work with since we didn’t trade any for needed replacements for I jured players.

Sorry, but Baker is not elite. He misses wide open guys. It was fun while it lasted. We may lose the division to Carolina at this point. Another disappointing season that seemed amazing at first, but the real Bucs are showing up midway through the season. Our defense is azz. Can’t stop the dinking and dunking of Maye, let alone any team. Just looks like a flat team, and you can tell by the body language of the players. They know they’re not an elite team. This is embarrassing.

Everyone knew the Bucs would have to dominate to win on defense and so far it’s a win for McDaniels over Bowles. Pats defense has Grizzard grilled. 25 minutes left can still make it a game but have to get more physical and give more effort.

Don’t forget the Pats probably have the best corner duo in the NFL, and the Bucs got one legit starting NFL WR. That’s tough to overcome, and to have any chance you need an exceptional day from the OC and the QB. So far Baker has been OK, but the OC has been trash again. That combo won’t get it done.

I don’t totally agree with you, and that would be the case in past seasons. But when you got a kicker that can make 64 yarders, and seemingly every team gets the ball at near the 40 after a kickoff, if you can make it a 3 point game, you should probably do so now. Not solid on that by any means, but I think it was probably the correct call – if not the best play selection.

You can rub, or get in the way – basically you can’t make contact, or it needs to be clear the defender caused it – but Shepard literally changed his route to run back directly into the defender. I hate the refs and we always get screwed, but man, you can’t run that pick that poorly – even as a homer Bucs fan, there’s no way I can come up with an excuse for that one.
