Todd Bowles “P!ssed Off” Over Antoine Winfield Being Robbed

October 27th, 2025

Denied!

This nonsense of people sitting in a New York boardroom ordering officials what to do despite what the refs on the field see on instant replay is out of hand.

Yesterday, it got to the point where Joe firmly believed any decent Bucs play was going to be altered or overturned. Combine yesterday’s crapola with what happened in Detroit last week, a complete overhaul may be needed for how games are officiated.

Take the Antoine Winfield scoop-and-score. No doubt about it, but the refs claimed there was an inadvertant whistle so no touchdown. B.S.

Bowles’ mood turned from happy to sour when he was asked if he heard a whistle.

“No, he said it was an erroneous error in blowing his whistle,” Bowles said. “[Winfield] legitimately stripped him. I have no answer.”

Bowles meant to say he didn’t want to be fined by NFL chieftain Roger Goodell. But Bowles was really happy about how Winfield appears to have resumed his All-Pro self.

“He had a hell of a day,” Bowles said. “I’m still p!ssed off over some of it, but that’s tough sledding. He did a hell of a job today getting the ball out.”

Bowles did say he’s calling the suits in New York this week to find out what the hell is going on with the zebras.

  1. Jeffrey Becker Says:

“We ruled that there was a fumble. It was recovered by the defense, but there was a whistle blown from the other side of the field. The official thought that the runner was down. We were able to award the defense the ball after the fumble but because the whistle had been blown, we could not award the advance afterwards,” Torbert told pool reporter Luke Johnson.

Those two calls were garbage. Win Los or Draw I have lost my complete faith in the officiating. There absolute trash

  3. Old Florida is GOAT Says:

Refs are booth in NY are the NFL’s points shavers.
    Period

  4. JA Says:

That was one strange game. Yes, Winfield was robbed, and if Bowles was “pissed off,” he had a strange way of showing it. Another coach would’ve lost their mind by screaming his vocal cords raw in defense of his team.
Fines be damned! What’s Goodell gonna do, fine Bowles for being 100% correct? Maybe so, but he’d only bolster his status as the owner’s whipping boy and the player’s and coach’s Judas. If there was ever a time to accept a fine, it was yesterday.
Speaking of … that was one strange game. The Saints might have the worst offense in the history of the NFL. Their defense played well with goal line stands and limiting the Bucs to one offensive TD.
The Bucs offense played slightly better, and our defense won us the game. It was good to see.
White proved again how much we need Bucky.
Reddick was not missed. Nelson should start for the remainder of the season.
Mayfield was “off” again, but the Saints D had something to do with that.
This is the time of year when the better teams are ascending. Not sure we fit into that category.
The bye could not come at a better time.

  5. Baker Bowl Says:

There seem to be a lot of rulings on technicalities this season. I have no data to back that up, just purely a vibes based argument, but the play early in the season when a play happened then the team rushed to spike it (and did) and then the play before was reviewed and overturned, didn’t think that could happen.

We had Dan Campbell manage to get something overturned that he didn’t even challenge.

A whistle automatically makes the play dead? Ok, I do understand it but guys are taught if you don’t think the play is over, run it to the end zone. That should 100% be reviewable because the ref got his call wrong.

In college and the NFL it feels like refs just want to have an impact, good or bad.

  6. SB~LV Says:

Goes back to Baker’s comment the week before.
Time for Full Time NFL referees!
That play was in one continuous fluid motion, I didn’t see any time where a whistle would have blown the play dead.

  7. FrontFour Says:

The more Vegas and New York are involved the more questions will swirl about the legitimacy of the games.

  8. TBBucFan Says:

I suppose if someone took the over on the game, they’d be upset for that reason but i think all the whistles are more about player safety. No idea but just my guess. Either way, it’s infuriating. Winfield was robbed and that lost stat will soon be forgotten. Patently unfair.

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

I wonder what the repercussions would be if a referee got injured “accidentally” after boning a player or a team several times in a row? It would probably just result in more and more bad calls against said player or team.

However, I remember an MLB ump, John Shulock, who was known for his ego and volatile nature. Back in the Pinella days, he seemed to always be getting into beefs with Lou and had run him a few times over the years. One night in Anaheim he was basically squeezing the Devil Rays strike zone but the Angels were getting called strikes if the ball simply rolled over the plate. D’Rays reliever Jesus Colome unleashed a 103 mph fastball which catcher John Flaherty failed to reel in (it did not seem he tried to either) and the ball nailed Shulock square in the chest, stunning him and knocking the pompous ump backwards. Shulock exploded and started swearing and poking Flaherty in the chest. MLB suspended Shulock for 5 or 7 games for touching a player. Shulock remained a jerk but backed off the D’Rays a bit after that. Too bad the same could not be done to a ref or 2 who are “squeezing” the Bucs but apparently the refs have zero accountaility and Roger Goddell protects them.

  10. Marky mark Says:

Kash Patel is on this. Roger goodygood will be arrested just the way hall of famer ,Chauncey Billion was. NBA down. NFL next. MLB to follow. NHL safe because Canada is involved. International incident.

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

If it was “an erroneous error” in blowing his whistle, then he should’ve continued blowing his whistle to call the play dead instead of covering up his mistake by remaining silent and cowardly leaving it up to replay officials

  12. buc4evr Says:

NFL Refs are shaving points. Winfield had two TDs. Otton had one. FBI needs to investigate. Todd doesn’t need to call the suits in NY, he needs to call Kash Patel.

  13. Colonel Angus Says:

They robbed Winfield of some nice career stats in this one. Definitely would have been player of the week with 2 defensive scores. Those stats make a difference come HOF voting time.

  14. Bucsarg Says:

How about multiple waves at the Patriots game chanting paid off each time.

  15. TheShaz Says:

The NFL has to tread lightly here because of the NBA scandal.

  16. Not Gus Swayze Says:

Tried looking for ref with a whistle in his month but didn’t see one. Hmm?

  17. Stuck Says:

NFL officiating is pure trash. Garbage rubbish. Corrupt

  18. BucsFan81 Says:

Yea I miss how football used to be. They are slowing the game down and over analyzing it. I remember when a catch was a catch. We didn’t look and see if the ball moved a little. Let the players play.

  19. Beeej Says:

Bowles gets pissed off the same way Tom Landry did, but you just can’t tell from looking at him

  20. Jeff Says:

Rigged. Sadly, the most everything in life, the NFL is rigged. Lots of money on the Bucs to cover.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

    THATS WAS BS!!!!!!!

    6-2!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  22. ATRAIN Says:

NFL is hurting their product in the name of greed

This continues they will loose people and especially in the betting area

  23. purplebeard Says:

When sports money becomes more important than the sport itself, then the sport loses the one thing that made it special: integrity.

  24. Jeff and Jack's grandpa Says:

That head referee from yesterday is always messing up

  25. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Yes everything is rigged except our incompetent coach.

  26. Todd Says:

Just review all angles of video of every official on the Winfield play right before and after contact. If you do not see an official with a whistle held up to his mouth-YOU HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM.

  27. KABucs Says:

How about that tush push strip sack by New York yesterday that got overturned due to Eagle’s so-called lack of forward progress. The ball was stripped before any whistles were blown. They can tweak it either way they want to take a big play away from the great defensive effort. They can say the whistle was blown when it wasn’t and then sometimes whisyles are blown too early. In general, I can’t remember a season where the officials were changing the outcome of games so often with terrible calls and almost even worse judgment on slow-mo replay / reviews. I thought the slow motion, multi camera thing was supposed to help, but you have humans with a bias (and probably being paid by Vegas) doing this judging.

  28. heyjude Says:

Cybersecurity_intern – Rigging has nothing to do with our coach. He plays by the rules. It’s the refs.

Haven’t read anything from Vanessa Anne or stpetebucfan in awhile. Hope they are both okay.

  29. WillieG Says:

Every game there’s something to make me suspicious. Ghost whistles, double reviews, obvious PI not called. I hope the FBI is watching.

  30. Old Florida is GOAT Says:

    There was no whistle.

No one is gonna fess up to this one. And this crap is gonna continue.

  31. SJComm64 Says:

Yeah That was a horrid call! Should’ve been a TD! Even the announcers on TV said during the run back they heard no whistle! Anhoo, I’m glad the majority of the calls were against the Ain’ts and we’re 6-2 going into the bye week.

  32. Tucker Says:

Don’t want to believe in conspiracy theories but can it really be this bad?Vegas seems to be on a direct line with the refs with how bad these calls have been with cameras sprinkled everywhere how is it this bad week to week?

  33. Chuckys Bucs Says:

The referees let it play out. It was “New York” that told the refs to say a whistle was blown. The nfl can control games through the refs. I don’t think the refs themselves are in on it though. Fans should start demanding transparency and get the audio between ny and refs.

  34. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

The Stoic, not too high, not too low coach did a great job euro-stepping a fine in his post-game presser. That call was some bullsh*t and the phantom whistle that I didn’t hear live or in any replay took points off the board. Game should’ve ended up being 30-3.

I don’t care for the conspiracy aspect, the more simple alternative answer is just gross incompetence by the officiating crew.

  35. Beeej Says:

An unfortunate coincidence that the league office where they change these calls is on Vegas

  36. ocala Says:

I am not saying the officials are dirty, but the feds may need to look into what is happening in the NFL. It would be naive to think that cheating is not occurring. The feds just went after cheating in the NBA and the NFL may be next.

  37. Josh Says:

They’d better fix it, or as a lifelong loyal fan, this will be my last year. Win, lose, or draw, every game I watch seems to have questionable calls that ruin it. It’s not just the Bucs game—every single game has at least one call that makes you think, really?

  38. Bucschamp Says:

Can you not challenge that call on the spot?

  39. Ufcguy Says:

Fbi needs to investigate these ppl.

  40. DBS Says:

It’s bad enough refs review make a call then let’s review it again. Now we have an excelerated review the on field refs can’t even review.. Gambling is now controlling games.

  41. Anyhony Says:

I know at least one of you have a background in law. It’s time for an online petition to have this official fired! If nothing else it will bring accountability during a time of scandal and legalized gambling.

  42. bucs63 Says:

An inadvertent dog whistle only the cheatin’ refs can hear

  43. Bee Says:

    Bowles should’ve challenged it

  44. purplebeard Says:

My dad was a successful trainer/driver of harness horses in the 50s and 60s. He was approached by east coast interests many times. He never threw a race, bc the sport was the most important thing to him. Others lost their integrity and succumbed to the money. It’s been going on since time immortal. Why would we think it won’t happen to the NFL? Owners? Coaches, refs, players (inflategate?). Let’s not kid ourselves.

  45. Dirk Disco Says:

Winfield was in the endzone so many times last game I lost count!

  46. infomeplease Says:

Did Anyone here that whistle? The fox announcers replayed it several times and said they didn’t here a whistle! I didn’t here a whistle!
I’m so tired of the NFL officiating of Buc’s games!! No penalty calls when they are so apparent! Reversals of plays that shouldn’t be. Ect Ect.Ect. Every game! Game after game! The past 2 games have been totally atrocious with potential game altering calls or lack of calls!! Time for a new NFL Commissioner!!!!!!!!! Would someone please start a go fund me site for this purpose!!!!!!!

  47. Pickgrin Says:

Sure looked like the fix was in for the ‘under’ in New Orleans yesterday…

  48. BucU Says:

Suspend that entire crew of moron’s. They should be banned from ever working an NFL game ever again. It was absolutely outrageous what they did in that game.

  49. #1bucsfan Says:

JOE. WE ALL NEED TO CALL THE DAM OFFICE AND RAISE HELL. COMPLETE B.S. THEY ARE RUINING THE GAME

  50. CJBUC Says:

What’s next? A zebra farts and although ” inadvertent” the NY suits say no play? Jeeze!

  51. Carlitin1988 Says:

It seems like we get screwed for something that we can actually verify on video once a week (like the egbuka catch againts the jets, the Antoine strip against the falcons at the goal line last year, the dog whistle this week) Bowles has to say enough and screw it take the fine because its gonna benefit us in the long run. Cannot keep just cruising on by like oh well onto the next week because its gonna hurt us at one point or another.
