Todd Bowles: Mike Evans Has A Broken Clavicle

October 20th, 2025

UPDATED: We won’t be seeing Mike Evans for a while.

On the Buccaneers Radio Network, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said Evans broke his clavicle. He offered no further information.

Joe has no idea how long of a recovery Evans will have to undergo but it’s fair to say he will miss several games.

ESPN reports Bowles said Evans is expected to return late this season.

What is clear is that Evans’ record streak of 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons is cooked. He had no catches tonight before getting injured (he did draw a pass interference penalty). So Evans still needs 860 more yards to reach 1,000 for the season.

Out for the season…..but that WAS A CATCH, WHY DID THEY TAKE THAT AWAY FRO HIM? Heal up big Mike.

  2. DBS Says:

Well guess he’s done. Next receiver up?

  3. 813bucboi Says:

    Damn

    GO BUCS

  4. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    Damn.

  5. DBS Says:

    EE is now #1.

  6. SlyPirate Says:

    I see him retiring.

If he doesn’t, do the Bucs invest $50M in 2x old injured receivers?

  7. Bucsalltheway Says:

Just imagine if that is that last play we will see Mike evans make…this hasn’t been his year

  8. Ken Says:

Broken collarbone is season ending. Maaaaybe back for SB if our offense can fix their **** and get there.

  9. PSLBucfan Says:

I would think he goes on IR. A receiver with a broken collar bone and probably concussion, not a 2 month thing.

  10. Rod Munch Says:

    Examples of Recovery Times:

Aaron Rodgers: Returned to play 8 weeks after surgery for a displaced clavicular fracture.

Dak Prescott: Returned to play 6 weeks after non-surgical treatment for a nondisplaced clavicular fracture.

Odell Beckham Jr.: Missed the entire season after undergoing surgery for a complex clavicular fracture.

  11. Co-Z Coolman Says:

Sucks to see a team hero go down like that. Father time catches us all, now we have $48m in injured wide receivers.

  12. Lou Says:

    Tez time!

  13. Weebs10 Says:

Brutal. After having such a fantastic preseason I thought Mike was going to have a monster year. So unlucky.

  14. ElioT Says:

That’s not going to be good for business

  15. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

That sucks. Terrible way to go out if this is his last season as he has hinted.

  16. Obvious Says:

Most likely season ending but not a sure thing.

Depending on severity maybe back for a late playoff game.

    Obviously not super positive.

  17. Curse of Gruden Says:

Some of you effers need to step away from the ChatGPT.

  18. BUCDADDY Says:

EE has always been #1. Sorry, I love Mike, but he showed his age tonight. I’m not too worried with Tez stepping up. Even wonder, as much as I love Godwin, if he was a bad investment with all the miles on him. We’ll bounce back next week as long as Bake doesn’t overthrow so many crucial passes. GO BUCS!!!

  19. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Primetime injury curse strikes again

  20. Tbbucs3 Says:

Unlikely Evans was gonna get the record this year anyways especially with young new targets in Tampa, regardless still an amazing achievement to tie Jerry Rice

  21. ElioT Says:

Yay now EE will get all the defenses attention.

Assuming Godwin is also toast for the year

  22. Daryl Green Says:

It’s always an event when Mike hits the grown.

  23. BucsOnDeck24 Says:

As I’ve been trying to tell everyone in the game day thread: my sources have been telling me that Mike’s season is over and he is contemplating retirement this offseason.

End of an era in TB!
    Helluva career!

  24. Bucs West Coast Says:

    Thank you Mike.

Pick your spot on the Ring of Honor, it’s yours

It doesn’t always end the way we want, but it certainly went th way we didn’t expect.

It was a joy watching you set Tampa Records, I hope the fall immediately as a bucs fan, but as a Evans fan I know your safe for a while

Thanks Mike. I think we know this is the end, but none of us are ready.

  25. Paratrooper Buc Says:

A collar bone takes 6-12 weeks to heal based on age and the type of break. Oddly it’s a bone you don’t do anything but wear a harness and just let it heal if it’s a clean break. He could be back January.

We need Macmillan asap and Egbuka to stay healthy. I love Godwin but I think he is too hampered by his injuries if not done.

We need to make some trades to get Oline better and another WR or TE.

  26. BigZ Says:

Call Vegas about jakobi Myers. E2 looks dinged up, Chris doesn’t look like Chris, and he’s still hurt Jmac, who knows. That leaves Shep is not a yac guy and Tezvis still learning. Jakobi is in his final year and wants out. Let’s not waste this season.

  27. Gipper Says:

On ME13 injury play, he was mauled by the defender reaching over before the ball arrived. No call on a pivotal play. Airman and Buck ignored it but it was obvious on replay. Too bad about ME13. The strengths of the offense have disappeared with receiver and O line injuries. Pretty hard to compete against a motivated defense when 50% of offense starters are injured.

  28. JS Says:

    Go sign Tyler Lockett

  29. Tucker Says:

Damn I was so pumped to have Evans back for this game and we lost him almost as soon as we got him brutal. Heal up buddy it’s always a special day to watch you play.

  30. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Poor Mike 😭

  31. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

That’ll be a career ender first r yim, not a season ender. That sucks.

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Just depends on if it’s a clean break or not. If it’s clean he could be back by as soon as the Nov 30th home game vs the Cards, or a week or two after. If it’s not clean, then who knows. I’d guess they’ll know tomorrow or Wednesday.

  33. Bucky Says:

Damn turf is unforgiving, I don’t think it breaks on grass but would still hurt.

    ———–

Why? There’s literally no history of that, it’s normally 6-8 weeks.

  35. MegaFailure Says:

Not a first round hofer, but definitely a hofer. Thanks for everything Mike, you were amazing

  36. Oregon Buc Says:

Time to go get Marvin Harrison Jr from Arizona

  37. BUC4L Says:

I know we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Our only hope is the football Gods to shine a light on us from now until we win the Superbowl! Go Bucs! You can do it!

  38. gp Says:

That’s why horse collar tackles are illegal. The fact that it occured before the ball got to him would make it a PI as well.
    Flag?
    Not from THIS crew!
    Dirty play!
    Dirty refs!

  39. Johnny Says:

As Gipper (and perhaps others) says above, Ya-Sin fouled him real bad on that play. Nobody is talking about that

  40. Fidel Says:

Mike Evans will come back and catch TDs for us late this year

  41. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Now that his streak of 1,000-yd seasons is over, he will most-likely retire.

Thanks for everything, Mike. Sucks that it ends like this. Especially when he was dominating so hard in training camp and scrimmages before the season started. I thought he would dominate this year.

  42. Nicholas Carlson Says:

Probably out till the playoffs at least.

  43. Rod Munch Says:

The Lions defender absolutely committed PI, and the fact they replaced it 100x in slow motion shows that, but it wasn’t a dirty play or a horse collar, it was just regular old PI.

  44. Mike Johnson Says:

Heal up Mike. He’s done for the season. a lot of games left. Next man up.
We got beat by a better team. Sh.. Happens. Just be ready for the Saints.

  45. Aqualung Says:

He was indeed mauled but caught it anyway. I guess the ultra technical definition of a catch is he started losing his grip on it when his head hit the concrete and certainly he momentarily blacked out. It sucks so much for so many reasons.

He also caught the ball on the DPI that was called. Of course Todd challenged neither play.

Tez is too clueless about the route tree, he can make a few plays but he’s often a liability, running wrong routers and getting into the space of others.

Bucs so desperately need a win at Nwawlins. But under Todd’s leadership, flat as a pancake is what to expect. Objective fans know it.

  46. BUC4L Says:

Fans on here acting like Evan’s has done nothing or acting like the man is a dog beat down and not coming back or bad investment…..well I got news for you F off! You are not a Bucs fan only a Karen having no loyalty to your team. If you only watched every play this man has made you would have more respect. Just like Godwin! We have been blessed with WRs! Don’t start Browning our franchise with your hate for the loyal fans know how much these guys mean to us and have meant! I believe these guys will be back just like Vea did the year we last won our SB! Never forget! Go Bucs!

  47. BucsFan81 Says:

As much as I love Mike and Chris it’s time to move on. Old and injured. Ebuka and Tez are the future along with McMillan whenever he comes back. They need to draft another WR next year.

  48. BUC4L Says:

Bucsfan81? Let me guess you haven’t followed the Bucs and watched everyone of their games since these guys were drafted? Answer the question truthfully because I think you are way off. Evan’s I can understand but Godwin is still young. I believe both could make you eat crow because of your ignorance. Go Bucs!

  49. unbelievable Says:

Mikes body language was off all night to be honest. He just didn’t look like himself.

And then that happens. Hope that’s not his last game in a Bucs uniform.

  50. firethecannons Says:

Honestly I do not think big Mike handles pain well. He looked like he needed smelling salts. Love Mike the player but now we will have to do without. Maybe now they might get honest about what is wrong with Godwin and tell us.

  51. BucsBeast Says:

    Be honest fellas.
    Evans retires now.

  52. MelvinJunior Says:

@ MadMax – because, it wasn’t a catch. He dropped the damn thing after hitting the ground. Didn’t possess it all the way through the catch.

    @ MegaFailure – it’s called “First-BALLOT.” Not “First-Round” HOF’er. Lord.

  53. lambchop Says:

I don’t see Mike going out and retiring after being on IR. It all depends on how far we go in the playoffs and if he can come in at some point to contribute. He’s a dawg and I just don’t see him riding out into the sunset after an injury. These guys want to go out on their terms as much as possible.

  54. BucsOnDeck24 Says:

My sources have been telling me that this goes beyond the football field for Mike Evans. I’m hearing that he is struggling big time with the recent passing of Doug Martin & simply feels as though it’s time to hang it up. Expect a big announcement in the offseason.

  55. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Aqualung – it wasn’t a catch. He didn’t have complete possession of the ball, AND both feet, a shin, etc. The ball moved when he bobbled-it. By the time he regained full control, he only got one foot in, and maybe half an ass cheek. The penalty gave them a first-down, anyway! The officials actually, had a damn good game tonight! They didn’t miss very much at all. Most of those calls are “bang-bang” and could be called or not called either way. They did a good job. They were very consistent and let ‘em play! I believe that’s about all you can ask for. Nothing egregious. And, you’re not getting EVERY call. Every call is not going your way 💯.

  56. MelvinJunior Says:

@ BUC4L – It’s a Business. Peoples JOBS and ‘LIVELIHOOD’ are on the line… Teammates, Coaches, Trainers, Staff, FO People, Etc. AND, there is a Salary Cap. It’s no different than any other ‘business’ or anything else. It’s a “what have you done for me lately,” league. The past has absolutely NOTHING to do with the TODAY. It’s the reality. If YOU wanna choose to live off of (or in) ‘the past’ then that on YOU. But, that won’t be for the rest of us. WE WANT TO WIN. And, if Mike & Chris are able to produce and can help us do that, then GREAT!!!!

  57. Pickgrin Says:

Sucks Mike won’t get the all time consecutive 1000 yd seasons record – but he is tied for first with Rice at 11…. a record that has held for almost 30 years.

Broken Collarbone is a 6-8 week injury. 10 weeks at worst. Mike will be back sometime in December to help lead this team to a greater goal – the Super Bowl…..

  58. MelvinJunior Says:

@ BUC4L – You are an “adult” and YOU are getting EMOTIONAL over a ‘professional’ ATHLETE… Really!? Not a single person on here, has not appreciated what Mike Evans and Chris Godwin BOTH, have accomplished here. But, that has NOTHING to do with wanting to continue handing them ‘multi-year’ contracts, and more towards ‘top of the market’ $$$$. Let someone ELSE, do it! JUST because NE was willing to do it, didn’t mean that WE had to. The best thing they could’ve done for EVERYONE, would’ve been to sit down with Chris and just been honest. And, then said… “Look Chris, You Need To Take That Offer, and Go To New England. That’s one HECKUVA DEAL, that you really need to take advantage of! We just can’t do that.” I was SHOCKED they did. I was thinking a lot more of a 1-year “prove-it,” loaded with incentives, and then go from there. Just AWFUL.

  59. MelvinJunior Says:

@ unbelievable – He hasn’t been. I noticed a ‘drop-off’ during the first three games of the season. He was noticeably, not moving well. I said then, that Mike has become more of a ‘possession’ receiver, & that’s FINE… Still good and is a threat on 3rd-Downs, and inside the RedZone, with the occasional bomb downfield. You’ll still see glimpses of the old Mike, at times. But, he’s definitely lost a step. You could see it. And, again… That’s okay! Hell, HE’s 32-Fricking YEARS OLD, with a lot of wear & tear. It doesn’t mean he CAN’T still be effective. It just takes accepting that (for him and the team), and then tweaking a few things, here and there. It would actually extend his career.

  60. MelvinJunior Says:

Even, before that ill-fated play, I saw him touching and rubbing around his hamstring area, a couple of times. It made me wonder how hard he was pushing to get back out there, and how much he was pressuring coaches, training staff, & etc. Maybe, coming back to soon over that record!? I hope that’s not true whatsoever, and he was a LEGIT 💯fully, completely healed. But, I’m afraid that was probably, more than likely, NOT the case. I would’ve liked to have seen him give it another 3-weeks, until after these two games on ‘synthetic’ turf, heading into the bye! Maybe, he would’ve had more ‘confidence’ and strength in his hammy then, and he wouldn’t had slammed him shoulder and head into the ground!?

  61. Bucs Reality Check Says:

I love Godwin but I think his career may be over. I think his injury never healed properly and he has residual pain or lack of full mobility because of it. You could tell when he came back and played he wasn’t his usual self. His route running didn’t look super smooth from what I saw and he looked to me like he lost his pre-injury quickness.

  62. heyjude Says:

This was gut-wrenching. Mike is a strong guy, will heal, and will be back before the play-offs. That is who he is and he isn’t finished yet.

  63. BucVoyager Says:

Godwin has a new contract so he’s not going anywhere. He’s just not 100 percent ready. Evans and Egbuka should not have played in this game. Neither played well and Baker was off.

  64. Old Florida is GOAT Says:

And there’s the insult to injury of this pathetic waste of 3 hours.

  65. Jeff Says:

He never should have played Monday Night. Clueless Todd strikes again! Mike’s career is over folks. He’s not coming back….ever.

  66. heyjude Says:

Jeff – It’s not Todd’s fault. We all know Mike, he wanted to be in there. That’s the type of guy and player he is. And he is coming back, just in time for the play-offs.

  67. Capt.Tim Says:

I think Godwin and Evans careers with the Bucs are over.
    Damn

  68. gp Says:

    @MelvinJunior
The officials actually, had a damn good game tonight! They didn’t miss very much at all.
    *********************************************************
Who the hell are you and why are you here?

The refs had a good game ?!?! The officiating was blatantly biased. Did you actually ‘watch’ the game?
    Evans got mauled.
    Mid air
    Horse collar
    Defenseless receiver
All before the ball even got there.
Then the DB has the audacity to do a celebration dance over an unconcious Evans!
And the refs don’t see fit to throw a flag for ANY of it.
But YOU think they called a good game.
You need to get out of your grandma’s basement and get out into the sun. It’ll do your addled mind some good.
