Fresh Scouting Report On Emeka Egbuka

October 7th, 2025

Bucs rookie sensation Emeka Egbuka.

Through months of the offseason, hardcore NFL fans listen to former scouts and draft gurus talk about prospects.

But what about once they get on the field?

Well, JoeBucsFan draft guru Sean Sullivan keeps track of them on Best In Class. And sometimes NFL Network draft guru Daniel Jeremiah, does, too. Jeremiah was a college quarterback and scouted for the Ravens, Browns and Eagles before joining the media.

On Jeremiah’s Move The Sticks podcast, he shared his scouting notes watching Bucs star rookie Emeka Egbuka against the Seahawks on Sunday.

Jeremiah raved about Egbuka’s ability to play slot and outside.

“So fluid and smooth. Wins on a hole shot. You see skinny posts. You see a deep post. He’s got unbelievable feel in zone, like he’s just got the awareness and instincts of somebody who’s been playing a heck of a lot longer than he’s played,” Jeremiah said.

Former NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger said Egbuka is smooth in “everything” he does. Former NFL defensive back Bucky Brooks talked about how Egbuka’s versatility is what every NFL offensive coordinator craves in at least one receiver in his stable.

The fun thing about Egbuka’s incredible pace through five games is that it feels sustainable, and his on-field life should get measurably easier when Mike Evans returns.

Im more surprised by his occasional drops than i am with his performance….

people say CG14 clone but i dont see it…

    i see larry fitzgerald

    4-1!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  2. DS Says:

He just looks faster than I thought he would be not even sure who I would compare his game to

  3. Bartow Buc Says:

I see in Emeka Egbuka, if he stays healthy, a Buccaneer for life, and a Hall of Fame receiver. Pro Bowl – this season – he’s the best pure receiver I’ve ever seen play the game !!

    Go Bucs !! Beat the 49ers !!

  4. Buc1987 Says:

Oh boy is it going to be fun watching this kid’s career!

  5. Dlavid Says:

Mike who … if big Mike plays next year he better be giving a big home team discount !! Could be very effective playing second fiddle ….. and nursing that weak hamstring .

  6. ocala Says:

Justin Jefferson is the best comparable I see for him. Alot of people are saying he is a Chris Godwin clone, but his rout running looks a lot like Jefferson.

  7. Ex Browns Fan Says:

I am a new TB fan.
My guess is a Mike Evans comparison is verboten

  8. Durango 95 Says:

Amazing player. Seems like a guy with great character as well. Home run pick. Not sure why some are steadfast in drawing the Godwin comparisons. Sure there some similarities with Godwin. But that stuff is overblown. Regardless, dude is freakin’ stud receiver.

  9. William Walls Says:

He’s not in the Mike Evans mold. Evans plays the receiver position like an NBA guard. All a QB has to do is get the ball near his wingspan and he’ll outmaneuver/outmuscle anyone who dares to try to keep him from catching it.

Egbuka is an entirely different cat. As with Evans, all a QB has to do is get the pass near him, but at that point an entirely different skillset takes over. The ball just disappears into E2’s hands, almost like you never even saw the catch happen.

In MCU parlance… if Mike Evans is The Hulk, Emeka Egbuka is Dr. Strange.

Welcome aboard Ex Browns Fan. Mike is his own type. May even be the best player in franchise history.I’m a huge fan of that guy. Nobody plays like Mike. Gifted talent, hard worker and another guy w/ outstanding character.

Had a roommate, good friend, many years ago, Big dude, muscle head, ex Army bouncer, doorman, etc. Saw him reduced to tears watching the Browns lose to the Broncos in the fumble game. If any teams’ fans in the league deserves better it has to be Browns fans. Feel bad for those dudes, they are hardcore, knowledgable fans. Dog Pound strong that had a team stolen from them. Not cool. Always pull for the Browns to win. Love to see them finally win a SB (Bucs first of course) Again, welcome aboard.

  11. Bartow Buc Says:

Well I might as well say it …… Tez Johnson, in my opinion, will also be a great Buccaneer receiver in the near future !! He did a good job against Seattle. It’s just a matter of time before he starts making big plays with his break away speed !!

  12. G-Buc Says:

Emeka is clone of Jamar Chase. IMO.

Same size and fluidity. Chase had slightly better 40 time.

  13. Obvious Says:

I was so happy when I saw his name come up on the ticker last April. Mostly because I was 90 something percent certain something would happen with Evans, Godwin and Jmac. And because you could see the talent.

    I didn’t think he’d be this good.

    Grand slam pick at 19.

  14. William Walls Says:

Agreed on Tez Johnson. If Egbuka is going to be our 1A in the post-Evan era, I believe JMac and TJohnson will be close to interchangeable for the 1B and 1C positions.

  15. PSL Bob Says:

Bartow Buc, that mention of HOF caught my attention, and I totally agree. Provided they all stay healthy, the Bucs now have 4, and possibly 5, future HOF players on the field every Sunday this year: David, Evans, Wirfs, Egbuka, and probably Winfield. I’d say that’s pretty impressive. Reminds me a lot of the 2002 SB Bucs, but all of their HOF players (Brooks, Sapp, Barber and Lynch) were on the defensive side of the ball. Let’s hope this 2025 version also brings home a Vince Lombardi trophy!

  16. GoneGator Says:

    @William Walls
I agree…. Need to keep developing Tez – he’s valuable.
And J-Mac is the forgotten man… For now but he’ll be back with a vengeance hopefully!

  17. Bartow Buc Says:

There are so many offensive weapons !! I was saying that last year, this year it’s like our offensive firepower has almost doubled. How is J Mac ? Is there an expected date of return ?

    Go Bucs !!

  18. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

Good luck to any teams attempting to defend against the Bucs when we get Goedeke, Bucky, Evans, JMac back, Godwin knocks off more of the rust, and gets into football shape, and Tez fully gets the playbook down. Opposing teams will need divine intervention to stop the Bucs’ offense.

  19. infomeplease Says:

The Buc’s WR room will be strong for many years to come with EE, JM, TJ, and KJ all so young and talented! Should be entertaining! Next up San Francisco!! Go Bucs!! Get it done!

  20. Aqualung Says:

During, well said. And leave it to the Area Coder to imply criticism of the Bucs second best offensive player when there’s a whole defense performing like garbage.

  21. SlyPirate Says:

    Let’s get JMac back. That’s a solid 1-2.

    Any updates on JMac?

  22. Saskbucs Says:

Please tell me Mike is back this week! His chase for 1000 should be peanuts now compared to trying to do it last year with rookie JMac as his running mate.

Teams will not just forget about Egbuka and double Mike. They can’t. Pick your poison and Mike is gonna have some massive games ahead of him.

  23. Orlando_Bucs Says:

I’d compare him as well to Jamar. 2026 draft should include a WR that is in 6-5ft range. Then, we are set at reciever.

  24. Larrd Says:

I think the Godwin comparisons fit because he can do what Godwin does. The funny thing is he can also do what Evans does, and what Justin Jefferson does, and etc etc.

  25. Matt Says:

Saskbucs, I don’t think so. I think it’s another week if not two. They want him 100 percent before second half of the year. It will be worth the wait though. They are going to be fun to watch.

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

In a world where fairy tales come true we might imagine a totally healthy Bucs WR corp by the post season.

ME13, CG14, EE2, Shep, McMillan, Tez!!! Then mix in Bucky and Rachaad out ofthe backfield along with Otton and Bakers has more targets than footballs!!!

    AWESOME

  27. firethecannons Says:

awesome story here, hope Tez can get more play time as well

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Emeka Egbuka is no one’s clone. He is himself. Comparing him to other player is a waste of time.

  29. Stpetematt Says:

Both Justin Jefferson and Egbuka are 6-1 and 202 lbs. they both run almost an identical 40 too. They move similarly. They jump similarly. They run routes VERY SIMILARLY- so much so it’s eerie. If Egbuka is a clone of anyone, it’s Justin Jefferson. And that’s an amazing thing to be able to say!

  30. Stpetematt Says:

…’cause that means we just added Justin Jefferson to an offense that already has Evans and Godwin which is just absolutely INSANE. Who the heck do you cover in that scenario? And Godwin is already getting open. Just has to get his hands up to speed again and when Evans comes back holy hell!!!

  31. SenileSenior Says:

Another golden era for the Bucs has arrived. This one is heavy on the offense side. Let’s enjoy every minute of it.

    Go Bucs!!

  32. JimBobBuc Says:

Poor Walter Cherepinsky, who calls his site “The most accurate mock draft site in the world”, got his panties in a wad when Licht picked Meka and ruined Walter’s stats. Walter was wrong in bitching about Licht and wrong about the tag line for his site. Man up, Walter, you were dead wrong and you owe Licht an apology.

  33. adam from ny Says:

no rookie wall is in site yet…

but opposing teams are going to certainly game plan for the eggman moving forward…

that’s when you hit godwin…or sling it to tez…or bake hit’s ole reliable —> shep…

and wait until mike and jmac return…….

    and bucky..!

heck, just keep feeding otton…feed the beast – he’s good for 70-80 yards on any given sunday with 4-6 grabs

  34. adam from ny Says:

    remember devin culp…?

we’re so deep, dude is an afterthought at this point
