What a Shame. Fame and made millions but no time to enjoy it.

Weird that his family doesn’t want anyone to know what caused his death at such a young age.

    Embarrassment?

  11. heyjude Says:

  12. Miller5252 Says:

Dude is way too young for this. After that rookie year he had, I thought the Bucs were gonna have a great next year. I thought they had another Cadillac on their hands, but without the injuries. Feel horrible for the family and hope they can get through this. RIP muscle hamster

  13. Steven #55 Says:

    Terrible news 😞

  14. Oneilbuc Says:

    Man!!

  15. Oahu Jimothy Says:

    Passbuc…

The family is not concerned with your need to know what caused him to pass away at such a young age. Nor are they concerned with the rest of the public’s concern what caused it.

If you ever lost anyone you care about, you understand outside noise is irrelevant in this time and you should be able to show empathy to that.

May his family find peace in this time!

  16. D-Rome Says:

passabuc, I think you’re right. Unconfirmed rumors about Adderall.

  17. Goldenbuc Says:

Did him Mike Williams and vjax all play together?

  18. Oneilbuc Says:

The only time Jamies had a running game is with this brother in 2015 rip brother 🙏🙏

  19. Gofortheface30 Says:

Passbuc- I’m fairly certain you’re planting that seed for others to bring it up, because you’re privy to the rumors. Rumors have been around for a decade. Where there’s smoke…you know the rest. No one ever will ever learn. A hundred million people have died from drugs, but people will still do them knowing full well of the risks. Doesn’t make it any less sad. Makes it more sad really. Never reach his full career potential and life cut short. Shouldn’t be dying at 36. Im sure people will get all butthurt from speculating, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist.

  20. Couch Fan Says:

So sad and so young. RIP Dougie.

  21. jimmy Says:

one of the highlights of the lost decade, and there werent many. rip doug.

  22. Baking with Grizz Says:

    Blessings to his family.
    RIP DM22

We don’t need to know anything else.

  23. Rusty Shackleford Says:

What the heck happened with those 2010-2015 Bucs teams and players either dying young (Mike Williams, Vincent Jackson, Geno Hayes, Daniel Neo-Teshim, and now Doug Marting) or being consumed by their demons (Josh Freeman), or just going nuts (K2) ?

It’s insane and it is worth a deep dive as to why.

  24. Ira's Coconut Donut Says:

    That’s just sad. RIP Doug.

  25. Aceofaerospace Says:

Let’s not speculate on the cause of his death. Very sad RIP Muscle Hamster. Appreciate what you gave the Bucs.

  26. Rusty Shackleford Says:

    Gaines Adams, RIP, too.

And then Brian Price also went off the deep end.

Something very, very off with those teams during that time period.

It’s like many players shook hands with the devil.

  27. AtrainWD40 Says:

Muscle Hampster RIP heart goes out to the family and loved ones

  28. D-Mac Says:

    Cocaine’s a b!tch of a drug

  29. Bee Says:

Heard he died in a motorcycle crash. Condolences to his family

  30. Obvious One Says:

Agree with Aceofaerospace on the “we shouldn’t speculate” because by now I’m Sure that Most adults know how to spell “assume” if broken into three parts… and it’s not right to point at possibilities that aren’t becoming.

How about this then since we’re guessing…

He passed away while saving a child from drowning… Until we actually know it’s as legit as any…

Poor guy. I hope his family feels peace and light when they think of him..

  31. NCbucfan Says:

@Goldenbuc, yes all three did play together. In the Schiano era

  32. DBS Says:

Always morons trying to spread rumors they supposedly heard. Looking for attention. They don’t have a clue what the cause really was.

  33. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

    RIP

His 4-TD 250-yard rushing performance is still the greatest rushing performance I’ve ever seen with my own two eyes.

  34. BucsNbeer Says:

RIP Doug. What a shame. I think for me Vincent Jackson’s death hit me the hardest.

  35. Addb Says:

Seen and been around a lot of death over the years. There’s really only two reasons a family chooses to conceal the cause of death. Both carry a stigma that we should be past in 2025, but sadly we aren’t.

  36. Cardiac kidz Says:

Very sad to hear, I wish peace and love for the family he left behind.

    RIP Doug!

For those speculating… That’s part of everything wrong with social media.

Give it some time, give the family some time, have some damn respect.

  53. matthew a veal Says:

im glad he died knowing he was loved here and made the top 50 all time bucs.

in some ways he is symbolic of our franchise, incredible at times, other times not finding the same success. remember we dont have a lot of nick names, but the ones we have are unforgettable. Good night, muscle hamster, you have earned your rest.

  54. Bucs4Ever Says:

    RIP Muscle Hamster

  55. ATLBuc Says:

Was that the raiders he went off against for over 250 yards and 3 or 4 TD’s? That highlight video was one of my favorite youtube videos

  56. orlbucfan Says:

Rest in peace and power, Doug the Muscle Hamster. He was half my age. It is just not right.

  57. Tautology Says:

It’s natural for people to want to know how someone so young died if it wasn’t from some kind of freak accident. Knowing may even help prevent other young people from dying who are unaware of something potentially deadly they are doing…. I had a young cousin who didn’t know he shouldn’t be mixing certain prescription drugs until a celebrity he followed died. That newfound knowledge potentially saved his life.

  58. Aqualung Says:

Sickened by this news. Can’t believe it. Damn. He was always smiling. Always. Hate it.
