Baker Mayfield Passing Chart Week 5
October 8th, 2025
Baker Mayfield scans the field for an open receiver Sunday in Seattle.
This looked pretty close to a Liam Coen attack.
The former Bucs offensive coordinator now in Jacksonville rarely had Baker Mayfield throw 20 yards past the line of scrimmage.
Since, Joe refers to 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage the “Coen Line.” And last Sunday in Seattle, Mayfield rarely went past it. But when Mayfield did go past the Coen Line, he succeeded. Big time!
Mayfield hds one of his best games throwing, putting the ball in the air 33 times and only having 4 incompletions. That’s insane.
Maybe that was because Mayfield only crossed the Coen Line four times? Mayfield completed three of those passes, one of which was a touchdown to Emeka Egbuka down the right seam.
That pass was the first touchdown Seattle has allowed this season from outside the red zone.
Mayfield spread his passes all over the field to seven different receivers. That’s pretty good.
So, yeah, Joe would say last week was one of Mayfield’s best days. Considering it took place against a very stingy defense, that adds more weight to Mayfield’s day being being his best as a Bucs signal-caller.

So far this season Seattle has allowed on average 16.75 points per game to be scored on them with 20 being the most. San Francisco scored 17. Their defense is one of the best, with one analysts ranking them #1. We slapped 38 on them. Without 5 starters on offense. When Baker is protected and he was this game, he is a surgeon with the ball, 29-33, 88%. We put up 38 points on one of the best defenses. They did have some injuries on defense but who doesn’t at this point? When we are on our game, there is NO ONE we can’t beat.🏴☠️

I am looking forward to seeing what new wrinkles he will add to the offense. It seems like he is more aggressive in the passing game than Cohen. Loved the
wheel route to Bucky last week. That is a play I have wondered why in the heck
it seemed to be so underutilized with two quality receiving backs.

Baker Mayfield League MVP

Baker had a heck of an air game on Sunday.
Kudos to him and really the entire offense for making that happen.
I was thrilled to see both Cade and Tez get some targets.
Grizz delivered on something he’d mentioned during the preseason, when he said he wanted to see the offense stretch the field through the air a little more this year. That 50+ yarder to Emeka was a work of art.
That’s not something we’ve soon too often since Baker got here, but it appears to me that we’re taking those kinds of shots a little more this year.
I’m a little concerned about the number of passes behind the line of scrimmage this year. We’re connecting on them, but a good percentage of the time it seems like they’re resulting in a loss of yardage.
Still, Baker played a heck of a game and as guys return from injuries, our offenses will only get stronger and better.

Let’s not forget one of those incomplete passes was a drop by CG on 3rd down.
When CG gets his groove back it will just keep getting better

Really impressed by Grizz and his ability to make adjustments from game to game.
That one play with a behind the back pass to KJ could have worked beautifully if the RT had played with outside leverage and forced the rush inside.
Starting to see some pony packages again even with Bucky out.
Rachaad White is simply a stud and we need to resign him. Sean Tucker is so good and he can’t even see the field.
My last complaint for Grizz is to get a misdirection toss to Tucker for about a 70yd TD. Get the whole line moving left and a right hand toss to Sean Tucker against the grain and he out paces everyone I guarantee it. We have to utilize that speed more, not just on Kickoffs.
I do believe he is close to taking one to the house.

Coen who? Grizzard looks like he may, just may finally be the Bucs OC that opens up an extremely talented offense to its fullest potential. Can you imagine what that will be like when everyone is back and playing their best? Scary good doesn’t begin to describe it! And with Feisty Bake leading the charge. WOW! Go Bucs!! 5-1!! Sure wish I could be there, but I’ll be home with headphones on. I have to say that they had one perfect football day weather wise in the Evergreen City.

The Seahawks front seven were very strong in the run game and the short passing game. The Bucs had some good runs but averaged 2.3 yds/rush. The Seahawks emphasized the short passes to the backs so the short passing game was not to our standard. Griz saw that the Seahawks were walking wounded in the backend and Bake lit it up with Meka.
Robert Saleh has his defense playing well too. I just hope the Bucs don’t have a letdown after this weeks big win. Maybe Grizz can say that Coen has given him Saleh’s signs and that Bryce Hall gave him intel on Saleh’s defense. 🙂

Maybe Grizz is our next head coach.

Hopefully Grizzzz isn’t some other team’s head coach next season lol. Don’t be surprised lmao.

If this doesn’t prove that Baker can win with ANY OC, then I don’t know what can. Baker for MVP!

I would like to thank the Bucs players, coaches, and staff for producing the most exciting team to watch. Also the Bucs radio for bringing the game to life when there is a blackout in central FL during home games. And the Bucs fans in the stadium. The friendliest, considerate, and loyal. You’ve made the past 50 years great. Year 1 (1976) was the hardest for me, not the drought with JW. The first 4 games of this season has been the most exciting for me, knowing Baker can pull it out. Yes, better than the retired goat. Tysm to everyone.
