Will Jamel Dean Get Any Action?

September 4th, 2025

Joe did a double-take upon seeing a Buccaneers “specials” wager on the Hard Rock Bet app.

Somebody with a good sense of humor or a desire to prey on the weak among us got the following wager approved.

What?

Joe’s got faith in Jamel Dean’s ability to play well. Heck, Joe told everyone right here many, many months ago — and on the Ira Kaufman Podcast — that the veteran cornerback would make the roster and be the Day 1 starter. Todd Bowles adores Dean and trusts him. That always matters.

Joe’s only issue with Dean is his abilility to stay healthy. He struggles to do that once real games begin.

But wagering on Dean to have three interceptions? Man, he’s never had a three-pick season since being drafted in 2019. And his ballhawking ability has nose dived since 2022, as has his health. For this to be only +150 odds was quite funny. And there’s no “under” option.

Joe wonders if anyone without a direct tie to Dean is taking that bet. Don’t do it!

    Hahahaha!

  2. Fred Says:

He’ll be hurt by the third game.

  3. LakelandBuc Says:

The Falcons are going to run the ball, and attack the middle of the field. That’s their bread and butter .

  4. LakelandBuc Says:

Jamel Dean will get lots of action against Drake London

  5. Aqualung Says:

As Aqualung has previously noted, you need to be within the same county lines as a receiver to have a chance at touching the ball, so let’s start there.

  6. Jeff Says:

Dean will get injured. That’s his go to move.

  7. TanpaBayBucFan Says:

Unless he gets 3 in the first half Sunday….I doubt he stays healthy after that….so don’t take the bet.

  8. buc4evr Says:

Ha, the wager should be if Dean makes it 5 games before IR. Sad really, but predictable.

  9. KABucs Says:

I have some money for this, wait, where’s my lighter?
    That’s kind of the same.

Parrish and/or Denise will have a pick on Sunday.
    LFG!!!

  11. David Says:

I like Dean more than most, because when he’s healthy he is pretty good, definitely above average, regardless of what people around here think.
But 3INT‘s… Can I take the under?

  12. Fred McNeil Says:

My main beef with Dean is absenteeism also, but the man couldn’t catch if you fed him a high iron diet and used a ball made out of magnets.
