“Probably Beat’em By 10”

September 30th, 2025

The Bucs certainly aren’t intimidated by the world champion Eagles, winners of 10 consecutive games, including four in the postseason and Sunday against Tampa Bay.

After the Bucs’ painful six-point, mistake-filled loss to the Eagles, Lavonte David addressed the team.

He elaborated on his messaging on the Buccaneers Radio Network yesterday.

“We take away those little mistakes, you know, defensively and in a special teams situation, we can win this game. We had a chance to come back and win that game and probably beat ’em by 10,” David said.

Like that’s the type of team that we are, you know what I’m saying? I told [the team], ‘There’s no issue about mental toughness, about playing hard, about being physical. It’s all about us focusing on what we need to focus on. If we come in and add all those four things together, add all those for things together, we’re unbeatable. We’ve got all the talent in the world and we always find a way to beat ourselves against good teams.”

David went on to emphasize focus, which he explained the Bucs defense (mysteriously?) didn’t have in the first half, along with energy.

Joe would put “focus” under David’s category of “mental toughness,” but it doesn’t really matter. Be ready. Stay locked. Play hard. Basic football.

Every year. When are we going to stop having lapses.
This team has had this issue for far too long. Coming in against the
Superbowl champs and you lack energy? Focus. How? Its unbelievable how we aren’t ready to step up and play 4 quarters of good ball. Its always someone or something we do to tarnish the game. It needs to end now ir we will lose to Seattle too

  2. Statisticly Insignificant Reader Says:

Says every team who lost this weekend.

  3. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Talk is Cheap! Let’s see how they roll against the SeaHags this Sunday.

  4. Bucs4Ever Says:

    coulda shoulda woulda

I hate that crap…the better team didn’t win…we probably beat them by X if if if

Shut it LVD. Take the L and get better.

  5. David Kilmer Says:

I mentioned once think it is important enough to mention again. Whatever the Eagles to to tackle like that they Bucs need to copy that and do it!!!. If that is partly focus so be it. However you saw the result Buc ball carrier received the ball instant tackle. That was a huge difference in that game, besides the blocked field goal and untimely interception. I would love to see this Buc team tackle like that. I mean if was flat impressive, focus, heart, skill, coaching , whatever it is we need to get it asap. If I am on this coaching staff I am running the Eagles tackling in that game over and over and going that is what we need to accomplish!!!

  6. 813bucboi Says:

    cant win em all….

    im done discussing the L….

plenty of Ws in front of us!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Smarter than Joe Says:

Every year since Todd has been here there is a “Communication Issue” or a “Lack of focus” or insert some unacceptable issue for a team of highly paid pros.

No matter who the players are the same issues persist, this means it’s on the Coaches.

  8. HC Grover Says:

They were on cruise control in 2nd half.

  9. View from 132 Says:

LVD is a tackling machine and an ironman, but he doesn’t create turnovers with any regularity. That’s what separates great LBs. Take the ball away. Force fumbles. Get INTs. Strip sacks. Change the game.

  10. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Man, LVD has really opened up the past couple years. I think he really wants to make one more legitimate run at a ring. Him and Mike know the end is near and that they have to lead these guys to make it happen. I’m expecting the defense to keep getting better. Our anchors are playing well. The young guys are stepping up minus Braswell. I feel good about the direction of the defense.

  11. Don’t make a scene 35 Says:

We need Jacob Parrish on the field more !
    Kid is impressive
If Dean and Morrison r down then we’re gonna have him getting more snaps anyway

  12. Faspro Says:

“We’ve got all the talent in the world and we always find a way to beat ourselves against good teams.”

    Good teams don’t beat themselves.

  13. BucU Says:

Parrish is a baller. I don’t remember him missing a single OTA/training camp/preseason practice/game since he got here. That’s amazing.
Morrison on the other hand hasn’t been healthy for a millisecond since he got here. He’s another Kancey. Worthless.

  14. ChiBuc Says:

Not gonna make excuses, bc these are men getting paid well to do a job…..but, it’s got to be deflating to run out onto the field and the only red you see in the stands are empty seats among a sea of green. Sometimes fans gotta step up and stop whining about the temp/cost/time/etc. None of those issues seemed to affect Philly fan.

  15. SlyPirate Says:

    MORE CONCERNING THAN POSITIVE

Wirfs, Bowles, and LVD all said the same thing. The team wasn’t focused. Now, go back the past two seasons and look at the 4-5 game losing streaks. Same thing.

So, should we expect a slide. Can the players have their “player’s only” meeting now?

  16. Baking with Grizz Says:

LVD needs to remind them. This is no longer college. This is your job!
You are either earning your pay or stealing from the Glazers.
It’s a game and also your place of work!!!!!

Time to Respect your boss and your fans which many are spending their hard earned money.

    LFG!!!!!!

  17. Coconut Doughnut Says:

These fans man. By looking at the comments you don’t know if we won or lost. Same old griping and moaning. We’re 3-1 be happy. It’s just a game for fans.

  18. Baking with Grizz Says:

I know one thing. We can play with anyone. In my eyes we beat ourselves. The Eagles are not better than us. And if the Jags can go to SF and beat them. Then we are the favorites in the NFC. Remember we are not 100%.

    Yes 3-1!

    LFG!!!!

  19. infomeplease Says:

“Probably beat them by 10”. So True!! It would help too if the refs called penalties more evenly! The Eagles were pulling jerseys to slow receivers.. the refs didn’t throw flags..so they kept pulling jerseys all day!!! Then there’s VV50 getting held on almost every down! The league needs to do something about this!! It’s just not fair.

  20. infomeplease Says:

    Bring on Seattle!! LFG!!!!

  21. Allen Lofton Says:

L David: if we take away all those little mistakes we can win the game by 10 points. I’ve heard this statement already from David and other Bucs leader previously but they continue doing them.

The better statement should be why are continuing to do them. Find that answer and work on it until it becomes second nation. If you have to think about it, it slows you down and the problem repeats itself.

Don’t accept mediocrity. It leads to What it’s and lost opportunities.

  22. Mike Says:

    Interception in the end zone
    Way to go baker
When we play a great team either qb fumble or Interception either way turn over that cost the game. Quit looking for something or someone else to blame. Until that stops no more super bowl.
Brady protected the ball and won the super bowl with less talent
    So frustrating

  23. Davenport Says:

If you could do it, you would have done it. Talk away the slow starts & ridiculous mistakes all you want but no one is listening.

The next three weeks its put up or shut up. Stop talking and start working

  24. Bartow Buc Says:

Are we going to discuss this loss all the way to Seattle ? It’s old news now let’s move on and focus on talking about the Bucs beating the Seahawks!!

    Go Bucs !!

  25. Bartow Buc Says:

The Buccaneers can’t let the loss become contagious!!

    Go Bucs !!

  26. Kidfloflo Says:

The weekly million dollars checks should be all the motivation u need!! Oh and u were home, playing ur nemesis Super Bowl champs, so there’s that

  27. Bakersbucs says Says:

Eagles played 1 good half & the blocked punt for a score we never recovered those points that’s why we lost all teams play good halves not all 4 quarters that is rare like last year in Green Bay that was 4 quarters of good ball with a perfect passer rating

  28. FortMyersDave Says:

This is a pattern. It happens year after year under Bowles where there are a stretch of games where the team cimes out flat. This is on the cosching staff as no one is held accountable. The only thing Bowles will do is launch a punter and shuffle third stringer and practice squad players. It puts a ceiling on the season when it costs teams wins.

  29. Please Says:

Some of these comments— “put up or shut up”… “talk is cheap” — you guys sound like a bunch of pompous slobs who have never played a season of sports in your life.

  30. Aqualung Says:

Yup. Fans shouldn’t criticize their team’s failures. Of course what happens next is the lost decade. Candy cane throwers like “Please” drip with hypocrisy, criticizing legitimate criticisms. Fortunately there are enough informed fans with half a brain who know defects when they see them repeatedly and don’t need to have “played the game” to know. On the other hand, many who “have played the game” are meatheads who couldn’t recognize the sky if it was cloudy instead of blue.

  31. GoneGator Says:

    @aqua
OK, your ignorance makes more sense now.

  32. Jeffrey Becker Says:

first and fifteen 2 minutes left down eight and we hand to bucky. normally, not terrible call. but after the penalty, i hated it. second and thirteen is predictably bad spot to be in because the run is off the table. if you wanted the run back in play, you had to get half of that fifteen back on first down. we did similar thing against i wanna say the falcons, but not sure which game it was. that was the play for me that screwed us. i get it’s four-down territory but you can’t let defense know the run is completely off the table, especially when your pass blocking isn’t its normal self.

  33. Davenport Says:

“Please” not only have i played the game, I coached it for 27 years at a championship level.

Once players start talking about “what would have happened if” they aren’t accepting that the performance was not good enough.

This is the Todd Bowles problem in a nutshell — slow starts, mid-season fade, excuses.

Its only after the players face the point of step it up or not make the playoffs do they lock in.

Thats coaching and we don’t have it.

  34. garro Says:

I know it’s not in his personality, but I wish Wirfs would get on some folks @$$! Same with LVD. Arians would have and then told Todd to make some adjustments!

    Go Bucs!

  35. orlbucfan Says:

Two things helped defeat the Bucs: injuries and a rookie offensive coordinator. Eaglets sure didn’t have those problemas. Thank god, this one hasn’t been changed from its 4 pm start. Means I can listen to it.
