“Our Goal Is To Not Let The Quality Drop”
September 28th, 2025
Playing without Mike.
Who would have/could have guessed this before the 2025 draft:
In the fourth game of the 2025 season, the Bucs would have a rookie as the team’s No. 1 receiver. But here we are.
When the Bucs drafted Emeka Egbuka No. 19 overall, it was ridiculed by many, including some Bucs fans. And one publisher of a popular NFL site even mocked Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht as “Millen” for drafting Egbuka.
Yeah, well, who is laughing now?
With Chris Godwin iffy for today — he may make his first start but insider reports suggest he may be on a pitch count — it sure looks like Egbuka will be the Bucs’ No. 1 receiver.
A rookie. In his fourth NFL game.
No matter how good Egbuka is, it will hurt not having Mike Evans. But Egbuka told Kay Adams this week on an episode of “Up and Adams” seen weekdays on FanDuel TV, that he and fellow Bucs receivers must uphold the standard Evans and Godwin have established.
“It sucks not to have [Evans], but you know, we’re in the NFL, and everyone’s on this on this roster for a reason,” Egbuka said. “So we have dudes that are going to step up, and we have a really talented, really deep wide receiver room.
“So I think our goal is to not let the quality drop no matter who’s on the field. And that’s kind of what we pride ourselves on. That’s what we hang our hats on as wide receivers.
“But you know, Mike is special, and it sucks not to have him.”
The best way the Bucs can help Egbuka and the rest of the Bucs’ receivers is to get the run game going, something the Bucs have struggled with early in the season.
The Eagles allow 133 yards a game on the ground this season. Joe thinks it is time to increase that average.
No Mike Evans due to injury…

Stabilize the left side of the line with players returning to their natural positions and it ight be amazing how the running game improves. Unless we’re in for another patented Todd Bowles Big Surprise and we see Tristan at Center, Cade Otton at LT, Charlie Heck at Running Back and Baker at DE with Teddy Bridgewater playing QB.
No one would expect it.

Miller Shepherd and Tez we have to step up because Egbuka might be doubled.
As long as the blocking is held, wouldn’t be surprised to see otton make some catchers

Another big test for Grzzard I think. We have dudes who can play. Can we put them in position to make plays? Shepard, Tez, Miller, and Otton come to mind. Not discounting Godwin but he is not likely to be 100%.
Go Bucs!

Waterboy, this is exactly why ppl find you so annoying. The coaches shuffling the Oline was smart, did you see how Heck was abused at RT on pass rush? Imagine Heck at LT – Baker might have been beheaded. It is VERY likely the Bucs are not undefeated if it were not for this move.
But instead of conceding the intelligence of this move on behalf of the coaches, you mock them for it.
Your constant, endless harping on Bowles even when he deserves some flowers leaves you with snot running down your nose.

Grizz has 2 RBs and several TEs who can catch that ball. So, use them!! Also, the ST is slowly getting back on its feet. And the defensive secondary——come on, you guys!!! American football in Eire? Whatever.
