Jacob Parrish Is “Going To Contribute Day 1”

September 2nd, 2025

Rookie corner Jacob Parrish.

Former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger, when he’s not surfing in Hawaii or scuba diving in South Florida, spends a lot of time breaking down film.

And while Baldinger is a big fan of Bucs rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka, another Bucs rookie has caught his eye. That is cornerback Jacob Parrish.

Baldinger loves how Parrish is able to read routes. This ability, Baldinger demonstrated in a Twitter video breakdown, allows Parrish to get a jump on the ball and break up passes.

Breaking down a play where Parrish breaks up a pass in the Bucs-Steelers preseason game, when Parrish was guarding Roman Wilson, Baldinger raved about Parrish’s football acumen.

“[Parrish] times it perfectly,” Baldinger said. “I saw that a lot in preseason. He was excellent in the two preseason games he played. he played in about 45 snaps.

“He’s going to contribute Day 1.”

Joe has been of the mind for months that when Jamel Dean goes down, he will get Wally Pipped by Benjamin Morrison. With Morrison still hobbled by a tender hamstring injury he suffered in training camp, Joe wonders if Dean might lose his job to Parrish instead?

Bucs coach Todd Bowles has said Parrish can start at outside cornerback or slot. Baldinger believes the same.

So far, Parrish is the star rookie of the 2025 Bucs defensive draft picks.

Reminds me of Jaire Alexander when he first came into the league

    Parrish has caught EVERYBODY’S eye.

And yes – I absolutely agree that if Dean gets hurt game 1 – then Parrish would absolutely be the 1st CB to replace him outside with Izien or Smith taking over the Nickle spot if Parrish goes outside…..

  3. BucU Says:

What is it with our 2nd round picks? Morrison is looking more and more like a really bad pick. The last thing that guy needed was another significant injury stunting his progress completely. I expect 30 plus yr old players to start becoming injury prone not 22 yr olds.

  4. Hodad Says:

Parrish should’ve gotton Morrison’s second round money. So far he’s been the better pick.

  5. dmatt Says:

He’s just as fast n quick to react, has good instincts, tackles well, n knows how to read the receiver/qb contrary to Dean’s lack of field vision, slow to react, n poor tackling. Even if Dean doesn’t get injured, I believe Parrish will still beat him out. Dean plays to stiff n to this day seems confused on where he should line up during coverage. I’m all in on McCullom, he struggled his first year n 1/2 then rebounded to play aggressive n tackle well. I’m at wits end with Dean, he’s never made adjustments. He’s not a top money guy at cb.

When Baldy describes a play, I just start smiling.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤙🏾

    @BucU

I would’ve considered him but I was just worried about his height. Yeah looks like he might be turning out alright. Hopefully. But yeah I was.iffy on the Morrison pick from the beginning.

How rare IS it that a corner can play inside and outside? I like this guy

  9. Smashsquatch Says:

Still scratching my head at how such an instinctive corner with plus wheels lasted to the third round?

Rondr Barber did, and he became the best.

  11. BatW Says:

I’m still solid on Morrison a hamstring can linger. Parrish though looks like he could start right now. Big upside for this kid

  12. Lt. Dan Says:

“Baldinger loves how Parrish is able to read routes” Lt. Dan loves how Parrish is walking around with 4.3 wheels. When Parrish does get a pick, there is a pretty good chance he houses it.

  13. Buster Says:

Todd keeps mentioning moving zyon inside to nickel- I don’t get it at all. If Izien can go he’s the obvious choice to start at nickel, love Parrish but … He’s never played on Sunday, hopefully he gets eased in there for the first few games yeah?

  14. Jerseybuc Says:

    Like both the young corners!
Take a seat 15 yard off glassman.

  15. Smarter than Joe Says:

Meh, I am still of the belief you can give Todd Blows 11 All pros on defense and his pass defense still would get shredded.

This defense has to PROVE it before I believe they can limit any good team. ZERO belief in a Todd Blows pass defense

Parrish full time on the outside does nothing for the problem we’re trying to fix this year. Moving him takes away from the value he’ll provide in run support & blitzing from the nickel while also being part of the solution of shoring up the middle of the defense in coverage.

“How rare IS it that a corner can play inside and outside? I like this guy”

Not that rare, this is the 2nd one in 6 years we’ve drafted on day 2 of the draft or are we not remembering SMBs time in Tampa? We’ve been trying to replace him since 2023 and Parrish is looking like the best shot at that, last year it was Tykee we tried to use at NB.

  17. ballwasher61 Says:

When Morrison gets back we will have a really good backfield. Moving Smith to starting safety will be huge as will having Parrish in that nickel role, maybe being that chess piece Bowles loves to move so much. His tackling is really good.

  18. MelvinJunior Says:

He better. After that seemingly, wasted 2nd-Round Pick, especially.

  19. infomeplease Says:

A pick 6 in his rookie debut would make my day!!! LFG!!

  20. unbelievable Says:

Love Baldy’s breakdowns… But can someone send him a stand to hold his phone steady with lol?

Very excited for Parrish. Could end up being the steal of the draft…

  21. dumboldguy Says:

Contribute? He better be on the field for at least 75% of the plays. He passes the eyeball test as our best pass defender.
