Home Cookin’ Good For YaYa Diaby?

September 28th, 2025

Good to be home?

Last week against the Jets, Bucs outside linebacker YaYa Diaby came alive. He racked up his first sack of the season.

Even more, Diaby was a disruptor, hounding Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor and the Jets offense. YaYa had a sack, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits.

That was his best regular season game since the win over the slimy Saints to end the 2024 regular season. There, YaYa had four quarterback hits and four tackles for loss.

The win over the Jets was also the Bucs’ home opener. So does YaYa enjoy home cooking in the regular season?

“Yeah, I just felt like I was, I was flowing, man,” YaYa told Joe last week. “I felt good out there, man.

“And, you know, once I felt like I had an [advantage] on them, got up on them, and it was just being myself and not really putting too much pressure on myself.”

Joe thought when the Bucs signed Haason Reddick that opponents wouldn’t put so much heat YaYa because teams had to account for Vita Vea, Calijah Kancey, Reddick and YaYa.

At least in the first game at Atlanta, that wasn’t the case. Then, Kancey gets hurt and YaYa told Joe after the win over Houston that he expected to get even more attention with Kancey out of the lineup.

So whatever worked for YaYa last week, Joe is crossing his fingers that this is just the first of many games, not only home games, where YaYa is a real problem for opponents.

Yaya and Hassan are getting held almost every play. A comment from the Bucs front office to the league officiating office might warranted after three weeks of trash calls and non-calls.

  2. MadMax Says:

I saw where Yaya had the most QB pressures in the nfl, or maybe it was NFC. Either way, its very good to see him disrupting.

YaYa will keep it going today!

Absolutely agree with Aqualung about the ref calls this season. After reading the positive game day post about the refs officiating today, I am hoping the trash calls do not continue on the Bucs like they have been. However, if the Eagles are pulling some dirty moves, they need to be called.

  4. Hodad Says:

YaYa has a bad habbit of losing contain on QBs. Can’t be doing that today.

  5. JimBobBuc Says:

Got to contain Hurts’ runs. I can see Vita breaking through and literally crushing Hurts a few times! LFG!

  6. Jeff Says:

Eagles going to own the Bucs with the screen game. Bowles will be caught by surprise, again.

  7. Bojim Says:

And what will you say if its the opposite jeffry?

  8. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Most individual pressures in one game by any player since week 8 of
    2024.

recorded 4 pressures under 2.5 seconds in that same game.

Yaya has been knocking on the door, frequently and today would be a nice day to kick it off the hinges.

I’m still really bummed we lost the kid David Walker for the season…I had a feeling he was gonna shine…losing Cansey, well that unfortunately was expected
