Dallas Goedert: Eagles Fans Were “A Big Factor” In Win
September 29th, 2025
Eagles green was a too-popular color in the crowd yesterday.
Bucs fans who vomit easily might want to sit this story out.
There was a massive swarm of Eagles fans at The Licht House yesterday making the matchup often feel like a Bucs road game.
Joe had flashbacks to the Bucs-Giants playoff game in Tampa back in January of 2008. The Bucs tried to stop Giants fans from buying tickets and flooding the stadium with a sea of blue. The New York attorney general got invovled and the New York City tabloids were all over the story.
Ticketmaster relented and in came the blue.
Joe attended that game as a fan and arrived with an extra ticket to sell back when paper ducats were it. Joe arrived about 20 minutes before kickoff and literally could not find a Bucs fan that needed a ticket. Instead, Joe eventually sold the ticket to the highest-bidding Giants fan, and they were swarming like gnats for it.
Yes, plenty of Eagles fans were expected yesterday, but not to the degree they invaded. Why not? Because it didn’t happen like that last September and it certainly wasn’t the case in the January 2024 playoff game.
Remember, a percentage of Bucs season ticket holders don’t exercise their option to buy postseason tickets, so Eagles fans, in theory, were free to gobble up more tickets to that 2024 night playoff game. But that didn’t happen and the Bucs had a clear home field advantage.
That was not the case yesterday.
Tight end Dallas Goedert was in the happy Eagles postgame locker room Sunday when he told SiriusXM NFL Radio that Eagles fans had an effect on the Philadelphia defense closing out the Bucs on their final drive.
“Yeah, it’s incredible,” Goedert said. “The Eagles fans, you know, Eagles are everywhere. But it was really cool late in the game, when the defense really needed a stop, it seemed like it got louder than it did any other point of the game. The Eagles fans were cheering.
“It definitely played a big factor being able to get a third-down sack and a fourth-down stop. So just credit to them how passionate they are, how good they travel and how loud they cheer. You know, it definitely helped us win this game.”
Ouch!
So what’s the fix?
The Bucs do not release season ticket data, but it’s obvious a heck of a lot of Bucs fans sold their tickets on the secondary market. However, the game was not sold out one hour before kickoff.
Blame the weather or blame the expensive prices — $180-plus for a nosebleed seat yesterday — but cheaper tickets wouldn’t necessarily mean less resale. It actually could have the opposite effect.
Todd Bowles and Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht are lauded for the football culture they’ve built and fostered. Rightfully so. But what about fan culture? It’s lacking.
The 20th-century reasoning of the Bucs being an expansion team with flimsy roots in the community roots has faded.
No longer are the Bucs in the throes of The Lost Decade that began in 2009.
The Bucs are in their 50th season and are in the midst of a historic run — four division titles following a Super Bowl win.
Yesterday should not have happened to a 3-0 Bucs team. The folks at One Buc Palace should be searching hard for every possible reason and every possible fix, not taking the easy way out and shrugging it off as just something that happens in Tampa.
Think Joe’s exaggerting? Here’s the TikTok link to the Eagles’ official feed. The video is painful and the Eagles captioned it, “Eagles fans have taken over the Buccaneers’ stadium.”

A lone Bucs fans sits in a sea of Eagles green yesterday. Team Glazer should identify the guy and buy him a lifetime supply of disinfectant.

Typical and I’ll just leave it at that !!!
September 29th, 2025 at 6:28 pm
Disgusting!!
September 29th, 2025 at 6:34 pm
Totally embarrassing!!! Thst should never happen this is a good team last 5 years has been really good with a chip in the mix.
September 29th, 2025 at 6:38 pm
Almost knocked this Philly fan out yesterday. These guys come in our hoyse running their mouths. Then when we dont put up with it wanna get all ticked. Im sick of them
September 29th, 2025 at 6:41 pm
As I said before I m just a Greek guy living in Greece that started watching football in 1998 and became a Bucs fan.
I was able to watch the London game 2019 and live the Winston experience with like 6 or 7 turnovers lol.
When an article comes up about the Bucs playing a game overseas like London or Germany I see many comments of Bucs fans here complaining about why the Bucs give up a home game and how this is not right and stuff.
And then we see what we saw Sunday. An embarassement. It was like looking an Eagles home game with all that green and noise.
Watching almost every game with NFL Gamepass let me tell you the atmoshpere in Raymont James most of the time is among the worst. Which is unacceptable since the team are doing quite good for the past 5 years or so.
You never see this in BUFFALO, NEW ENGLAND, NEW YORK, PITTSBURGH, BALTIMORE, HOUSTON, INDIANAPOLIS, KANSAS, DENVER, LAS VEGAS, PHILY, DALLAS, DETROIT, CHICAGO, GREEN BAY, MINESOTA, ATLANTA, SAN FRAN, SEATTLE, ARIZONA. Yet we see it enough in RJ.
Bucs fans should be ashamed. Support the team.
Go Bucs
September 29th, 2025 at 6:44 pm
The only way to shut them up is to BEAT the Eagles !! They’d be mighty quiet if the tables were turned!!
I sure hope our Bucs get another shot at them !!
Go Bucs !!
September 29th, 2025 at 6:47 pm
Later games would bring more fans out..to hot..put a dome in it..prices are dumb high to listen to suspect eagle fans sing die eagle die..only fight I been in at Ray Jay was witha eagles game those guys are cochroaches
September 29th, 2025 at 6:47 pm
I was at the game and id say it was like 70/30. Made me sick
September 29th, 2025 at 6:47 pm
Glazers get their money no matter who buys the tickets.
September 29th, 2025 at 6:50 pm
You want to increase Buccaneer fans than get on the fans who constantly criticize the Todd Bowles coaching staff and call for the firing of Tood Bowles
These idiots, which includes Kyle Trask fanatics who wanted him over Baker Mayfield, need to be chastised by JOE BUCS FAN himself, and tell them that the players are 100% behind Todd Bowles and many teams would love to have him as their coach.
It’s hard to silence mindless critics but call them out for what they are. Just dumb and clueless.
September 29th, 2025 at 6:55 pm
I watched the Bucs game via NFl Sunday ticket and you could clearly hear the roar of the Eagles fans. I was like, aye, wait a minute…….
September 29th, 2025 at 7:09 pm
Since the pandemic, Tampa has seen a huge influx of folks from out of state who now call Tampa home. There are a lot of transplants from Jersey and Pennsylvania. Im pretty sure part of the problem, which isn’t going away, is that we’ve got a lot of transplants who aren’t going to give up their hometown teams. It’s a bummer for sure. I was at the game yesterday and could not believe my eyes.
September 29th, 2025 at 7:19 pm

You nailed it! “we’ve got a lot of transplants who aren’t going to give up their hometown teams.”
Different sport same concept. My wife and I had season tickets to the Lightning back when they sucked. We went to every game except one which she had to miss so I sold her ticket out front to a broker. it was against the Flyers.
Dude who sits next to me from New Port Richey was actually a Philly native.
We started verbally sparring. I asked him why he didn’t switch allegiances like I did. Home is where the heart is. He blah blah blah.
Of course the Flyers kicked the Lightning’s butt. He starts yammering and I finally said. OK you’ve got scoreboard out their on the ice but I have it in real life. We have scoreboard as a CITY!
You don’t see a bunch of Floridian moving up to Philly, OTOH Philly people flood into Florida. Why unless your city sucks? We obviously have scoreboard overall as in the best place to live.
That really riled him. He stood up to get it on. As I stood, 3 other season ticket holders stood with me and stared the NPR turd down. He immediately grabbed his seat and sat the eff down and shut up.
September 29th, 2025 at 7:25 pm
Are these people from Philthydelfia ones that have moved to FL to escape?
September 29th, 2025 at 7:26 pm
Oh well it sells tix. Put them all on the sunny side.
September 29th, 2025 at 7:29 pm
Didn’t bother reading this. The Gans of the opposing team were Vert Quite for THE MOST PART in the second half….
September 29th, 2025 at 7:31 pm
Typing on my phone isn’t working out so great…
Doesn’t change The Fact that they held very little sway in the second half!
September 29th, 2025 at 7:33 pm
This is nothing new in the state of Florida for all sports teams. I would never go to a Magic game if they’re playing the Knicks, Celtics, or Philly. Even the Lakers game last year was full of LA fans. I talked to some, they all live in Orlando. Just the way it is, it’s never going to change nothing the team can do about it. Well there is something the team can do, win, and shut them up.
September 29th, 2025 at 7:36 pm
I’m surprised he’d say those positive things about his teams fans. I really thought he’d say, “no, they really don’t make any difference, I really didn’t even notice them.”
September 29th, 2025 at 7:39 pm
Good for you St. Pete.
Funny, I ask people All the Time, WHY. Why did you move here? And do you plan on moving back. The answers ALWAYS the Same.. The People, the weather, and Absolutely Not!
September 29th, 2025 at 7:40 pm
It has always been that way wait till the new England game
September 29th, 2025 at 7:42 pm
I was sitting in section 243 yesterday n from the bathroom to the concession area to my seats, Eagles fans showed no respect for our stadium. Urinating on bathroom floor, throwing food on seats, n chanting “TAMPA GAY”!! I believe they still hold a personal grudge ever since the conference championship when Sapp, Lynch, Barber, n Brooks broke the Fans hearts on 1/19/03 after nfl sports announcers, Eagles players/coaches, n especially Eagles fans, anticipated an Eagles blowout win to celebrate the demolition of vet stadium as they moved to their new Lincoln Financial Field the next year. We shocked the world that day n kicked the life outta Andy Reid, McNabb n the birds. That was a shocker like no other. We lost to the eagles on 10/20/02. As Brooks was walking off the field in passing an Eagle’s player, he said, we’ll see yall again. I feel the same way about that game yesterday. A Bucs player need to let the Eagles know, we’ll see them again.🥊
September 29th, 2025 at 7:47 pm
Yeah, but there’s so many transplants that they’ll wear a Bucs jersey all year until their “real” team shows up. They didn’t ALL come down from Philly. GO BUCS!!
September 29th, 2025 at 7:47 pm
It’s disgusting behavior, even the head coach talks crap to opposing players and fans. It’s a crappy place to live or raise a family in. We need to beat them again and again to keep Philly fans at home
September 29th, 2025 at 7:51 pm
The fans didn’t do crap. We almost came back.
Get the officials to call a fair game for the Bucs for once and fix special teams and we’re good to go.
September 29th, 2025 at 8:00 pm
And btw, eventually there won’t be enough room or high quality housing to support those from up north. Sooner than later they will be priced Out Of The Market. It’s already happening. You’re looking at a Bunch of Dinosaurs that are due for extinction…. it’s inevitable..
It IS A SHAME HOWEVER that Bowles ONCE AGAIN DOES NOT HAVE THE TEAM READY FOR THE CHALLENGE. We got punched in the mouth and Bowles RAN, and I mean RAN to “Prevent Defense” IMMEDIATELY!
THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! And the rest of the team sees Bowles panic, drop to the ground into the fetal position, throws up the I GIVE UP prevent defense. The team follows the coaches we’ll say ~ energy or vibes and THEY PLAYED SCARED the ENTIRE FIRST HALF! And THAT Included the OC! EMBARRASSING and weak.
Bowles IS NOT a FIGHT BACK AND FIGHT HARD kinda coach. And was So Flummoxed that he Could Not, Did Not adjust To Fight Back RIGHT NOW! No he couldn’t figure a way to stop the bleeding via creative defensive coaching. Not much different for the OC… Surprised? The end result of the first half seal clubbing we received?
TWO BLACK EYES and a BUSTED LIP! Embarrassingly weak show of “not much” for the first quarter….
September 29th, 2025 at 8:00 pm
The sun the heat. It’s not just me i personally know dozens that won’t go to a1pmsun heat game. It’s a no brainer. It’s ok to do once maybe but not over and over and over again. I had season tickets for several years. It’s not fun getting sun poisoning. This is supposed to be a fun event. I like the sun. Just not 3 hours of no shade. Ridiculous really. Gee i don’t know maybe they should do a pole. And actually ask the fans. Naaaa eventually we will fill the stadium. Right Even during the goat years stadium was a little better but now he is gone and now we are Phili it’s a Bucs life. Go Bowles.
September 29th, 2025 at 8:05 pm
He forgot to mention Bowles as another factor.
September 29th, 2025 at 8:15 pm
When DeJean made a play late in the 2nd qtr and you could hear “Cooooop” from the crowd in Tampa, smh
September 29th, 2025 at 8:18 pm
Nope.
September 29th, 2025 at 8:27 pm
I used to go to Bucs games regularly but am in my 60’s now and can’t take the heat early in the season on a 1:00 pm start. It’s just so much nicer to sit in my house and watch the Bucs on television where it is comfortable. Also it has gotten so expensive to go to a game when you figure ticket prices, parking and food and beverage prices.
September 29th, 2025 at 8:32 pm
A bonus : I hate Eagles fans the most don’t you?
I would have lost my mind at that game. I’m soooo glad I wasn’t there.
September 29th, 2025 at 8:34 pm
Don’t believe that garbage! Where was that Eagles offense 2nd half?
September 29th, 2025 at 8:35 pm
Did Eagles fans block a punt?
September 29th, 2025 at 8:40 pm
It’s a transplant state, do you expect people to switch teams???!!! I sure didn’t when I moved around due to the military. It’s a buy product of living in paradise vs the armpit of the US!
September 29th, 2025 at 8:42 pm
And I don’t buy the fact that their fans helped them win. The crowd noise was ineffective on either side. The heat was definitely a factor in the 2nd half. Hope we meet again later this year!!
September 29th, 2025 at 9:06 pm
BS
The fans did nothing but blow hot air.
The refs handed them that game!
September 29th, 2025 at 9:07 pm
I talked to 2 different acquaintances who admitted they sold their tickets to Eagles fans when I asked….
Told them both that’s BS – why didn’t you go? “too hot” they both said.
Then why didn’t you sell the tickets to Bucs fans? Couldn’t find any Bucs fans who wanted to pay that much to go broil in the sun was the answer….
I get it – I myself have zero desire to attend a September afternoon Bucs home game either…..
September 29th, 2025 at 9:10 pm
it’s all the chiefs fans that traded red for green bunch of front runners
September 29th, 2025 at 9:19 pm
I am a transplant. I became a Bucs fan after I got here. I also endured the lost decade after the first Super Bowl win. I have come to accept that we will never have the fan base some NFL cities are blessed with. (I don’t mean the Eagles.) After 50 years we can say it is what it is. I will continue to cheer the Bucs on.
September 29th, 2025 at 9:27 pm
If you’re offended and get triggered by someone saying “Tampa Gay” – then you’re sort of making their point, because complaining about that is pretty gay.
Just call them a bunch of Philly trash, make fun of any kids wearing Eagles gear around them, really goat them into coming at you, then immediately report them to security and have them kicked out of the stadium. Did that once to some Lions fans, told security they were making threats and throwing drinks on people, and bam, security comes over – clearly an annoyed Bucs fan cop who was sick of hearing them as well – and gladly told them they had to leave and kicked them out of the stadium. Was absolutely hilarious. But I’d feel 1-billion time more happy about it if they had been Eagles fans, although stupid Lions fans, who think they’re going to win the SB every year if they win a preseason game, are almost as annoying.
September 29th, 2025 at 10:21 pm
Fits a mold. Glazers wanting gazillions for crap seats and lousy defense has made a lot of fans sell their tickets. Hopefully Sunday’s second half is a breakthrough to the new Bowles defense. It was outstanding .
September 29th, 2025 at 10:26 pm
The problem was special teams. Please don’t blame it on the influx of Eagles fans. Almost everyone in Florida came from somewhere else. Eagles fans are rabid. I had 2 Eagles friends of mine beg me for tickets, and I gave them away. Next time, I won’t. However: that is not the issue. SPECIAL TEAMS>
Also, can we get a roof over this stadium? THe writer above is correct. The first 2 hours of a 1PM game are brutal.
September 29th, 2025 at 10:27 pm
Very sad.
Crazy to me that, as Joe mentioned, the Bucs have been super successful and this still happens.
I’m up in Canada and move “mountains” every week to make sure I’m seated for my Bucs game. Would love to be taking it in live in Florida. Sounds like people are taking this team for granted.
September 29th, 2025 at 10:32 pm
Last season and really every season i show up to the game insert douche bag fellow season ticket holder all of a sudden shows up in his redskins jersey at last year’s playoff game. Typical response ” my uncle gave me a redskins shirt when I was a kid and they are my favorite team. I pull for the bucs except when they play the redskins”. I never wanted to see a guy get punched in the face this much in my life. Same crap every year i can recall when Brady and the Patriots came here , it was the exact same garbage. Season ticket holders you sat next to for years are showing up in Patriots jerseys. Eagles game last year made me sick there were so many eagles fans in mostly season ticket holder section on home side of the field
People must be broke and figure i can sell my tickets to recapture my money back. But f*ck these fair weather fans.
I’d rather my wife work at the wh*re house then sit next to any of these people while I watch the game
This is the main reason after ten years I cancelled my season tickets
September 30th, 2025 at 12:03 am
The execution was the problem, the fans? Lol bucs have always been this way should be run of the mill at this point and glazers got their money do you think they really care if they did there would be more engagement with the fans joe practically begged them to let the fans be able to attend practices. 🤷 At any rate go bucs let’s bounce back for the next one going to be a rough few games but they definitely showed potential gotta tighten it up fellas.
September 30th, 2025 at 12:45 am
It looked sickening in the broadcast.
And yes they were way louder than the Bucs fans, but I’ve come to expect that. TB has soft crowds. Always have.
That said- you shut up the Philly filth by beating them.
September 30th, 2025 at 12:56 am
Just a sad real of living in Florida.
Millions of fans from up north come down here because they’re city and state and weather sucks.
Then they go to our stadiums and root the enemy when they haven’t lived in that city for 20 years.
