Bucs Management Stepping Up For Emeka Egbuka Fans
September 3rd, 2025
Big year loading?
Joe is a fan-first kind of guy. Fans matter. They deserve consideration, honesty and respect for their money and time, especially those who spend near or beyond their means to support the team.
And Joe is happy for some of those folks this morning.
Buccaneers first-round pick Emeka Egbuka changed his jersey number this week from No. 9 to the No. 2 he wore in college. Tampa Bay fired Kyle Trask and that freed up No. 2. All good. That’s life in the NFL.
The Bucs started marketing and selling Egbuka No. 9 jerseys immediately after he was drafted and a lot of fans are now stuck with a goofy look. The team, however, has stepped up to accommodate.
The Bucs’ official team store at The Licht House, aka Raymond James Stadium, and Fanatics will exchange authentic Egbuka No. 9 jerseys for No. 2 jerseys at no charge. The Buccaneers have asked fans to contact their original retailer for exchange details.
Joe thinks the Bucs should go a step further and find a way to extend an exchange offer to Egbuka No. 9 t-shirts, as well, and maybe get creative to help fans who bought unofficial gear.
Lotsa smart minds at One Buc Palace that could figure this out.
Joe still thinks the Bucs should refund every ticket to the 2014 season finale, when the Bucs tanked to secure the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft and cap off a winless season at home. But that’s a story for another day.
Perhaps that historic tank job earned a few minutes in the Buccaneers’ historic new documentary chronicling 50 years of the franchise?

Honestly, I’d hang on to it could be worth a lot of money someday. Kind of like a rare coin. Try to get it signed!

After he is named OROY, that signed #9 jersey will be worth some serious coin to the right investor.

Fans should also be refunded for the two home playoff loss atrocities that Dtod failed in. Brady’s last game against the Cowboys, who were a dead team struggling, and a rookie QB who never punted. Putrid.

“Tampa Bay fired Kyle Trask”
Why use the verb fired instead of cut ? Are you deliberately trying to alienate a percentage of your fan base.

Actually, the “9” jerseys now have more value.
The Bucs owe no one a refund or exchange.

Not all fans are collectors, not all collectors are fans.
This is being done strictly for the fans, but collectors (especially those who might have signed jerseys) will benefit financially from it as well.

Hang on to them kiddies.

This is just another example of how great the Glazers are. They are really not adverse to losing money if it helps the fans and/or players. I am still in awe of how much money they spent during the hurricane scare. They paid for everything for the players, their wives, their children, and even their girlfriends and pets. They gave them first-class hotels and food.
This offer to swap shirts for free is just another small example of how much we fans mean to them.

9 is considered a lucky number. However, if Egbuka is more comfortable with 2, go for it. Kudos to the Glazer Boyz for offering the swap.

I agree with those that are hanging on to the #9. It “could be” worth a fortune later but no matter the outcome the uniqueness of having that rare bird is priceless for the “I was there when’s”.

Also, the “creative minds” at one buc are also aware of the financial potential of such rare shirts if he goes on to be a hall of famer…
Plus, they’ll have him sign them all….

I was hoping for a streak of WR numbers in the teens.
13,14,15,16.

If I had got one of those #9’s I would keep it just for the cool factor.

Nice offer by the Bucs but I doubt many will take them up ! A #9 EE jersey will become a collector’s item overnight.
