BSPN: Chris Godwin “Expected” To Play Barring A “Surprise”

Update.
Two rather reliable NFL insiders think Chris Godwin will make his 2025 season debut tomorrow against the Eagles.
Additional reports suggest Tristan Wirfs should, too.
Yesterday, Joe caught hell from a reader on Twitter for basically not typing about Todd Bowles’ remarks and trying to interpret them as Godwin making his 2025 debut. Bowles, after he said Godwin and others are listed as “questionable,” said of Wirfs, Baker Mayfield and Godwin, “trending in the right direction.”
Whatever that means.
As Joe’s old man used to say, “Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched.”
However, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN is more optimistic with Godwin news. He stated this morning on SchlockCenter that Godwin is “expected” to play tomorrow. That seems to be the optimism … unless there is a surprise.” Adam Schefter also said Godwin and Wirfs are expected to play.
Well, let’s hope there are no surprises between now and kickoff tomorrow.
Schefter also twittered that Mayfield and Wirfs are expected to play. Joe doesn’t think anyone truly believed Mayfield wouldn’t be behind center tomorrow.

The Bucs need as many of their Big Dogs as they can field Sunday! Getting both CG14 and TW78 back will help the offense. This is a winnable game! Of course it will not be easy!! Get It Done!

Personally I feel like this is going to be a battle of a game. Very physical. With an 0-3 record do we really want to risk injury to ?Godwin and Wirfs for one game? Obviously they know more than we do…I just hope they live to play another game.
Our training and conditioning staff didn’t start the year out so hot.

It certainly seems like he’s going to play, but I also assume he’s going to be pretty limited – perhaps even just as a decoy. I just can’t imagine he’s back in football shape already and anywhere close to 100%, but then again the team did at one time sign an out of shape, slow, Richard Sherman on a Tuesday, for a SNF game vs the Eagles, said he might get a few snaps as he worked his way into shape, and instead Sherman played every defensive snap without even really knowing the system. Point isn’t to compare Godwin to Sherman, but to just say you can’t actually believe anything the coaches say on this stuff, other than if they say he’s out. If he’s not out, he might play 3 snaps, or play 93% of snaps.

Wirfs posted on his Instagram story yesterday “Return Of The Mack” song and it had a photo of himself. I am pretty sure he’s playing.

Oh, I hope CG14 suits up. He would be more than lethal as a decoy especially with EE2 floating around. There’s also Shep, White, Bucky and Otton. Not too shabby for a team of walking wounded. Go Cardiac Bucs!!
