Benjamin Morrison Still Out With Bad Hamstring

September 1st, 2025

Benjamin Morrison

Rookie second-round pick cornerback Benjamin Morrison injured his hamstring in practice 27 days ago.

He’s still not practice. When the Bucs gathered for their first game-week practice today, Morrison was on the sidelines and there’s no timetable for his return, Todd Bowles said.

“He’s been moving better,” the head coach said of Morrison.

Bowles added that Morrison still could play Sunday, but Joe finds that to be almost ridiculous. What’s the hurry?

Bowles did not address any other injury situations other than to acknowledge that safety Christian Izien’s status (oblique) is unclear.

The first official Buccaneers injury report of the season comes out Wednesday, per league rule.

  1. Vegasbuc Says:

Always a problem with hamstrings in Tampa always we need better staff

  2. Teflon Don Says:

No need to rush him back. Hamstrings are tricky and this franchise doesn’t have the best history with healing hamstrings

  3. LakelandBuc Says:

They should have placed Morrison on PUP
And kept Bryce Hall in his spot

I seriously doubt if Morrison play 8 games this season

  4. Hodad Says:

Redshirt year for Morrison, you can just feel it coming. Be a lot like Dennis, who is finally ready to start a season after how many years? Todd’s just BSing us saying he still could play Sunday. Dude can’t even run yet, but he’s moving better. Moving better between the training table, and tub I’m guessing.

  5. MelvinJunior Says:

Yeah, because of course he is.

  6. Gofortheface30 Says:

….ive banged the drum for this guy for a full year considering im a Notre Dame honk, ive said numerous times he isn’t injury riddled, i do a victory lap after the Bucs draft him annnnd a week in to training camp – he gets injured. God job BEN. Way to go about shedding that injury label BEN, as if we didn’t already have enough injuries BEN, you’re supposed to be what Jamel Dean isn’t BEN

  7. MelvinJunior Says:

    Yeah, “moving better” sounds HORRIBLE.

  8. Tony Says:

Part of the reason I would’ve considered passing on him & maybe tried to fix another area of the D instead. They don’t need this anymore but yet they keep going after injured players for some reason. He was already dealing with injuries coming out & it’s not like they were something minor.

  9. buc4evr Says:

Why did they draft a guy that had serious hip surgery and was questionable from day one. This franchise is just a continual nightmare when it comes to hamstring injuries and Todd doesn’t help when he spews garbage like that. By about week five the Bucs will be promoting guys on the practice squad and signing guys to play that were cut from other teams. This season is already starting out bad.

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

Afraid it’s more than a hamstring. “He’s moving better”. That’s a tell. He’s got a stinking hitch in his get along. Might be wrong. He’s a talented prospect and we’re best off letting him heal up fully. Can only hope it’s just a hamstring.

  11. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Kenton.. agreed.

Sure sounds like something else. Something recurring.

  12. Ufcguy Says:

This teams medical and training staff suck.

  13. HC Grover Says:

    Bowles better beat the Falcons.

  14. LakelandBuc Says:

Todd Bowles and Morrison dad was teammates with Washington

    Just sayin

  15. SlyPirate Says:

I DON’T GET IT … JOE PLEASE INQUIRE OR SUGGEST TO LICHT

I’m looking at the depth chart and I see Tez as Evans backup. I also see Culp as the #4 TE. Newsflash: Culp can be an Evans Clone. Same size. Culp is actually a little faster. Start the process of Culp being Evans understudy now. The investment will payoff bigtime and reduce the pressure off of Evans.

  16. MelvinJunior Says:

Someone said that Bowles was his actual “Godfather.” I don’t know if that’s true or not… never cared enough to look it up!

  17. Tony Says:

    @UFCGuy

I’ve been saying that. They need to look into their coaches.

  18. Hunter Says:

He also said Zyon may play nickel, if I heard correctly?

  19. Ufcguy Says:

Its ridiculous at this point tbh.

  20. Aqualung Says:

So glad we have such a stellar training and medical staff. Go get him some surgery now, since the season is here.

  21. Buc40 Says:

Draft a guy who is injury prone and this is what you’ll get. Theres a reason he slipped to the second round despite all the talent everyone says he has

  22. ballwasher61 Says:

They probably bagged him when he tweaked it like they did their starters to be safe. I think he’s probably fine and they just kept him under wraps.

  23. Tony Says:

    @Buc40

Exactly. Sure I hope he can turn into somebody good for them because they’ve dealt with injuries for too long but it’s as if you never learn. The definition of insanity. Keep doing the same stupid thing over & over again. That’s why I probably would’ve passed on him because it’s like why keep putting yourself through the same thing.

  24. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Surely all the experts on this panel have the data for hamstring injuries for the other 31 teams in the league to make the claim that the Bucs are proportionally worse than all the others.

  25. Rod Munch Says:

Take your time, no need to rush – we should have a few weeks until Dean gets hurt.

  26. Bucsfan1988 Says:

Buc4evr thinks the team will be pulling from practice squad by week 5 …..

Hmmmm, I feel like it will be even BEFORE that….

This organization is suffering from really bad injury juju…
Don’t know what it is, buts it’s getting beyond ridiculous..

Hell we haven’t even started the season and it seems like dudes are dropping like flies already….

Imagine the impact after a real game…
Shoot, we may lose 5-6 guys from Falcons game to a variety of crap injuries..

This is the same stuff that happened last year before the Falcons game. We lost them both because we had KEY players out before each game…This year is feeling like the same story again 🙄

  27. MelvinJunior Says:

Hell, I’m still upset over Bowles playing JMac in that game on that night, when KNOWING you already have Chris OUT. Made absolutely NO SENSE, whatsoever. I’m not surprised at all about this kid. Knew-it immediately, right after we drafted him, when I looked up his injury history.

  28. Fred McNeil Says:

The pundits were all saying Morrison probably would have been a first rounder, but for his injury history.

  29. BucsfaninOregon Says:

PUP him! BTW, Sports Illustrated (a total rag with zero credibility) has our old friend Jihad Campbell as defensive ROY! I thought that HE was hurt. And then we drafted an injured player at #2! I this is starting to smell like JTS, Braswell, etc. (countless etc. (s).

  30. LongtimeLkldBuc Says:

Morrison isn’t injury prone….he was born with the hip issue. He knew he would have to eventually have surgery once he had gone through his final growth spurt. I didn’t finish growing until halfway through college either. We got 1st round talent in the 2nd round. He will be fine….don’t rush him back.

  31. Bucs4Ever Says:

    sos

  32. buc4evr Says:

Bucsfan88, you are likely correct, the defense will probably have more injuries after ATL. I guess I was optimistic to think Dean could make it 5 games. lol. Why does Jason keep drafting guys with serious injury problems that the Bucs try to put in either a starting situation or in the rotation. Availability is also important. To me what Jason is doing by drafting injured players is not the definition of value. There is a reason no once else would draft Morrison. Fans want to get to the SB now, not three years from now.

  33. Oxycondomns Says:

they should have kept shilo as a yoga instructor

  34. JeffreyLane77 Says:

I honestly didn’t expect Morrison to play this year. Unfortunately when it comes too injuries on this team worst case scenario is the most likely scenario.

  35. BucU Says:

This guy looks like he’s going to be a bust. How the F can a 22 yr old be out a month for a hamstring? Another 2nd round pick disaster. Just what we needed another brittle football player.

  36. bucsfan714 Says:

    He’s still not practice. Nice…LOL
