Report: Baker Mayfield “Day-To-Day”
August 1st, 2025Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield will not practice today and his immediate future is unknown.
This comes from NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero. Apparently. Mayfield suffered a contusion on his throwing hand yesterday. Tests show nothing major but he’s on floppy hat patrol.
As a result, Kyle Trask is your temporary No. 1 quarterback.
This now makes two quarterbacks on the shelf for the Bucs, Mayfield and No. 3 quarterback Michael Pratt.
Pelissero reported Mayfield is “day-to-day.”

Ugh! Not good!
August 1st, 2025 at 8:51 am
Glass half full? Get some rest and avoid a pulled hamstring – cause we know THAT happens…alot.
August 1st, 2025 at 8:55 am
The Chargers having T Lance backing up Herbert, while we have Kyle Trask as our back up makes me wish for a VERY speedy recovery for Mr. Mayfield. The Chargers are freaking stacked man.
August 1st, 2025 at 8:57 am
Ice and compression, he’ll be alright.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:12 am
lucky injury haha. enjoy the view from the sideline
August 1st, 2025 at 9:16 am
Coach called it one of the reporters jixed it the other day. Hopefully this is it….please stop mentioning injuries EVERYONE (Fans, Media, etc) Players don’t like it and lets have positive mindset. We KNOW what we are all striving to achieve. GO BUCS!!!
August 1st, 2025 at 9:19 am
Lance sucks, he’s 5-7 as a starter with 5 Tds to 4 INTs for 1k yards. He’s now on his 3rd team, wtf are you talking about.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:23 am
@JustoneGame I am judging apples to apples and I would take Lance over Trask for a backup QB. I don’t think that’s a wild take at all.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:24 am
Get fast soon!
The rest of thr QBs on this team are a collective dumpster fire.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:29 am
Time to sign Ryan Tannehill for a camp arm.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:39 am
I’m with the dude that says Lance has done nothing over the guy thinking the LA Chargers are stacked. Stacked at what — not QB — not WR — not DE — not RB, etc.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:40 am
did he get stepped on while trying to recover his own fumble?
GO BUCS!!!!!
August 1st, 2025 at 9:42 am
need some Camp Meat as Pratt can’t practice. If Trask goes down with a Hammy, do you cancel practice or can Vita Vea play QB
August 1st, 2025 at 9:53 am
Not concerned at all, it’s going to give Kyle precious reps with the ones,( and it looks like the twos and threes also!) , I think the skeptics will be surprised even if they won’t admit it.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:58 am
Seriously, I would go see if Ryan Tannehill for sign for pennies. A hand contusion is just bruising so he should be fine for regular season. I think he has had this happen a number of times when hitting helmets tbh
August 1st, 2025 at 10:01 am
I am not looking to argue because it’s preseason and stats mean very little but they were used to prove a point.

Yes AS A STARTER being the key words here. But as a back up, my detractors are saying they’d take a guy in Trask who has NEVER won a single NFL game to a more mobile QB who has won, even if they have an overall losing record, he has more experience. 5 tfs to 4 ints for 1k yards is somehow worse than 7-4 ATTEMPTS for 28 yards and 0 TDs? I would feel way better about Lance backing up Mayfield than I Would Trask if we had to make a change. As for the Chargers being stacked, that’s a harder statement to defend but that offense is poised to do well and with Harbaugh on board they’re returning 2024’s best team defense, albeit witout Bosa. So, I wouldn’t die on THAT hill but I don’t think it’s SUPER crazy but it could turn out to be a bad statement.
August 1st, 2025 at 10:15 am
thank Gawd it is just a contusion and not a fracture, have to think he has had an mri. I wonder if Licht should of pulled the trigger on backup QB last draft. We now have Trask and garbage
August 1st, 2025 at 10:15 am
Sounds like the kind of thing where if this was Week 10, he’d be playing.
August 1st, 2025 at 10:18 am
Tyler Huntley! FL native, played for Miami last season and is only 27.
August 1st, 2025 at 10:29 am
Time for some camp meat. What are Rudy Carpenter and Ryan Griffin up,to?
August 1st, 2025 at 10:29 am
Chargers are stacked? Are you seriously judging a pre-season game where they played base defense and camp bodies? T Lance did nothing impressive. Can’t even throw a corner pass with two back to back poorly timed throws.
We’ll be fine. Baker has played through worse. Even if he had two broken legs he’d be trucking Wagner in a wheelchair.

He did nothing impressive, that’s a wild take, you play what is in front of you. He could’ve played like the Detroit QB but he didn’t. Returning the #1 Team defense from ’24 and a top 5-10 Qb. As for Lance, last night. The slander is crazy but don’t go just by me.
Trey Lance took full advantage of the first preseason game of 2025, displaying poise and playmaking in the Los Angeles Chargers’ 34-7 romp over the Detroit Lions in Thursday night’s Hall of Fame Game.
“Big night for Trey. Just played calm, cool, collected, ran the operation, threw the ball really well,” Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said.

Uh oh, here comes the Bazelak bunch and the Pratt passel! And a newsflash to all the doomsayers: Jameis Winston is not coming back to the Bucs.
August 1st, 2025 at 11:06 am
Has Jeff told us that he’s lost for the season yet?
August 1st, 2025 at 1:02 pm
Trade for Jameis.
August 1st, 2025 at 1:25 pm
Kyle finally gets his chance. Baker will never see the field again just like Drew Bledsoe.
August 1st, 2025 at 3:11 pm
🤣😂🤪
August 1st, 2025 at 3:29 pm
813bucboi, no wrong again as usual. What actually happened was All Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner and All Pro edge Nick Bosa both were in town and on a dare from Bowles, Baker ran over Wagner again while Bosa was draped all over him. Baker won the bet but hurt the hand that was holding Bosa off. Both were reportedly seen begging Bowles asking him to never do that again. Sports Illustrated is doing a story on Baker and how he manages to manhandle 2 studs like Wagner and Bosa not once but twice now. It should be a good read… 😜
August 1st, 2025 at 4:16 pm
Not worried yet. Baker is strong and it isn’t a serious injury. He will be back.
August 1st, 2025 at 5:15 pm
Heard Trask was having the best session yet with the first teamers. Gee let’s think for a second. One would REALLY SUCK having these 1st teamers to work with and evidently Trask dosen’t suck, which goes to show it is all the pieces that complete the whole puzzle
August 1st, 2025 at 9:21 pm
Grateful Buc
Thank goodness this guy isn’t our GM. Trey Lance, are kidding lol. I think trashk might still have more meaningful starting experience than Lance between college and pros. Lance had like 1 season of game tape in college, and turns out, he doesn’t have the mind to process at an nfl speed, and was one of the worth draft picks of all time.. Freaking out over Kyle Trask is ridiculous. He has never been given a chance because we had the greatest qb of all time follwed by a pro bowl qb as the starters in front of him. Still the GM and coach thought enough of him to extend his contract and not bring anyone else of note in.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:30 pm
I want him to be the starter this year again I have no problem with Baker in the regular season. I want him in the playoffs go bucs!!
August 1st, 2025 at 9:30 pm
Where is all the Baker Mayfield fan boys they must be crying right now lol 🤣🤣.
August 1st, 2025 at 9:32 pm
Kyle Trask has been balling in practice but practice don’t mean nothing when he’s playing good. It only matters if he’s struggling or Baker Mayfield is playing good. Lol 🤣🤣
August 1st, 2025 at 11:51 pm
Well Onei it’s good to see you move on from the same old 2 complaints. Man that was getting old. It is truly refreshing to see you have found something else to talk about. Trask is good, that I have no doubt of but good sits on the bench all the time in the NFL. Especially when there is a heisman trophy winner on the team. There is zero shame in sitting behind a HTW and im sure Kyle knows that. And it’s not that Baker is oh so much better than Trask but just a little better and in the NFL that’s all it takes. Only the very best start every game, only the very best.
August 2nd, 2025 at 12:49 am
Davyboy. I see you they got you brainwash to believe that but it’s about money and politics. That’s what plays a major role in the NFL or any other sport a lot times it’s players that’s went undrafted was better than some first round draft picks. Archo and Shady actually said it on their show that they knew players that were undrafted was better than their first rounders. Kyle Trask has out played Baker in every training camp but Baker Mayfield comes with fans like you . He has a fan base so the Joe’s have to promote Baker Mayfield for the Glazers.
August 2nd, 2025 at 4:25 am
Who is brainwashed Onei? If you actually believe that winning isn’t the end all and be all of the NFL you don’t really know how big business works. And if you really believe Trask is better than a top 6 quarterback, well there is no hope for you. There are only 5 quarterbacks better than Baker and Kyle Trask isn’t one of them, come on now… earth to Oniel
August 2nd, 2025 at 5:02 am
Onei, let’s get real. Baker has thrown 69 touchdowns in his 2 years here. He is the most prolific touchdown machine in the league. He has thrown more than anyone.
Baker: 69
Goff: 67
Jackson: 65
Burrow:58
Allen: 57
Scoring TD’s is how you win, right?
August 2nd, 2025 at 5:05 am
Mahomes: 53
August 2nd, 2025 at 5:09 am
When Todd Bowles and Jason Licht finish building the team, Baker and the boys will win us a superbowl…. 100%.
