Mike Evans Seems To Be OK

August 7th, 2025

Frightened fans this morning.

[UPDATE 5:47 p.m.] Mike Evans gave Bucs fans a scare. But preliminary information is if he has something wrong, it doesn’t appear major.

Let Joe put it this way: Evans was signing autographs after practice. The Bucs wouldn’t let him do that if he was hurt.

Todd Bowles said he saw Evans jog off the practice field to One Buc Palace and that he looked fine.

So what happened?

In a two-minute drill against the Titans’ defense, Baker Mayfield hit Evans with a beautiful pass in the north end zone (closest to One Buc Palace) on the right side that Evans caught in stride. Instead of celebrating or dunking on the crossbar or even heading to the huddle or the Bucs’ sideline, Evans went straight to One Buc Palace. Almost like it was pre-planned.

Fans near Joe freaked and swore Evans was limping. Joe had his binoculars trained on Evans and couldn’t detect a limp. Neither did Bowles or others in the local pen and mic club.

One reason Joe’s blood pressure spiked with Evans heading to One Buc Palace was Joe swears two or three years ago, on the exact same play in the exact same end zone, Evans caught a touchdown pass and made an immediate beeline to One Buc Palace. That time, he did have a hamstring injury.

Also, it’s really not a Bucs training camp until Evans has a hammy injury of some sort. Joe thinks maybe once in his career Evans didn’t have a hamstring issue in camp.

Practice started later and ran long today. It could be that when Evans scored his touchdown, he said to himself, “I’m done. Time for some air conditioning.”

Having a Hall of Fame career and winning a ring gives you the street cred to decide when practice is over or not.

[UPDATE: 5:47 p.m.] Joe learned that Evans beelined to One Buc Place not because of any injury but he needed an IV. All is well with Evans.

Sit him until Atlanta. Noting to prove. Let him yoga and bike ride until the opener. I’d rather see the young cats at WR shake things out in August

Get hydration keeps the hammies intact.
Over hydration has the urinal calling.

Some players don’t even need to be practicing or play in pre season. One of them being Evans. He needs to rest for the regular season

    ^^^^^^

    Yup!

Tyreke Hill was late for stretching this week. Of course, the media had to make “a thing” about it and pressed Hill for a reason. The reason Hill was late to stretching was he had to (his words) “drop the kids off at the pool.”

    Everybody does it, even pros

  14. Adam's Angry Says:

The freaking guy needs to mix in some leg curls… madon, I’ve seen women’s hair that’s more sturdy than Evan’s hamstrings.

LEG CURLS, MIKE!! SEATED OR PRONE!! 4 sets of 12!!!! Mix it in.

@Joe – there is video of that play going around on Twitter right now (I think “StankBastard” may have posted it).

He looked fine to me (although couldn’t see his legs) and looked like he just caught the pass and then jogged into the locker room. Seemed like most of the fans were laughing about it.

  23. Jeff Says:

Probably a slight tweak of his hammy. Rest him for three weeks.

  24. teacherman Says:

    Smart.

Maybe he has pulled his hammy in the past bc he practiced while dehydrated and kept going when he should have rested.

I think he has learned his lesson
