Jason Licht Seems Happy About Lavonte David’s Minor Injury
August 2nd, 2025If you saw Buccaneers Ring of Honor Jason Licht pump his fist in the air yesterday afternoon, there could be a surprising reason.
Lavonte David sat out his third consecutive training camp practice Friday. On Thursday, head coach Todd Bowles said David was “a little sore.” Joe has seen David on the practice sidelines all smiles and not looking concerned.
The iconic leader off the field? Licht is often soothed by such a sight, he told Loose Cannons.
Injuries take their toll on every team in training camp. Licht said he feels each injury and used to be happy when the Bucs were forced to cancel practice in the days before the Glazer Shed was erected in 2017.
“There’s going to be a soft tissue or an ankle or a knee or a shoulder or something almost every day. It’s just inevitable,” Licht said. ” … Before we had the indoor [facility], when we were rained out, you know, or lightning or a thunderstorm was going to last all day, it was almost like a, “Yes! Ok, one day we don’t have to get through. Some people were saved that day.’
“But I understand the importance of camp, the importance of getting the reps, the importance of grinding through the toughness and the heat and all that stuff because it makes your team better at the end of the day. But when a really good player has to miss a couple of days just because of a minor injury, I’m almost relieved at times.”
Joe is relieved to have David watching practice. And Joe has no issue with Baker Mayfield resting his hand. Plenty of time to prepare for Atlanta in 36 days.

JASON LIGHT BE LIKE
Who needs Micah Parsons when there is always NEXT YEARS DRAFT !!!
Who needs Saquon Barkley in free agency when we can draft
Who needs a lockdown corner Jalen Ramsey when we can draft rookie corners
Who needs a high profile pass rusher when we already are paying another
“WHAT TEAM WOULD NEED AN ABUNDANCE of PASS RUSHERS?
I WILL NOT TRADE FIRST ROUNDERS TO WIN A SUPER BOWL” – Jason LIGHT

Yes, plenty of time to rest up. The outdoor trainings scare me too!
Whoa Jarrett! Why the large font screaming? Yes, we can never have enough pass rushers. Luckily they got Reddick and Licht/Bowles are aware of their needs.
Licht has been doing a good job. Look around at the other teams in the league. Our team is top-notched with the caps being what they are. You can bet if Licht and Bowles were to leave that there would be plenty of teams that would be hiring them.

There is no need to grind through the heat Jason. If you think that shed should only be used for thunderstorms, you’re as dumb as a box of rocks. You can save your players from those heat related injuries by simply moving inside. The shed is another tool you, and your staff just don’t seem to want to take advantage of. Denver came into Tampa 3rd game in September, and whipped us. They were the fresher team that day, not us. So much for the training in the heat advantage.

Jarrett talks nonsense.
Parsons is under contract.
We are fine at RB.
Ramsey over rated… possibly semi-washed. We are fine at CB.
Proven edge rushers don’t grow in trees and cost a fortune.
Trading first round picks is risky and super bowls are far from guaranteed.
Licht is not spelled Light. Get a clue.

Jarrett has no idea he must be born in the 2000’s

Mayfield’s been throwing footballs for a while. I doubt resting up a bruised hand will require re-training. I think he’ll remember how to throw!

Jarrett would trade the next 5 drafts for players over 30. Jarrett is the community college business major.
