Chucky Announces His First Pick In Fantasy Football
August 3rd, 2025
“You can do that?”
Joe guesses Chucky doesn’t do fantasy football. Neither does “this Joe,” so join the club, Chucky.
(As this Joe is fond of saying — Joe doesn’t hate fantasy football, but Joe’s concept of fantasy has everything to do with Rachel Watson on a secluded Caribbean island and nothing to do with football.)
Chucky, the first Bucs coach to bring home a Vince Lombardi Trophy, recently published a video for Barstool Sports breaking down the NFC South. When it came to the Bucs, Chucky was discussing the Bucs’ offensive line — he thinks it may be the best in football — and then Chucky detailed if he was playing fantasy football, who would be his first pick in the draft — even if you cannot draft this position.
“I want to give credit where credit is due, and that’s the offensive line,” Chucky said of the Bucs. “Nobody ever talks about the offensive line in fantasy football.
“But if I was a fantasy football owner, you know who I’d take with my first pick? I’d take Tristan Wirfs, left tackle No. 78. He’s the only guy I know of that’s been All-Pro first team at right tackle and left tackle.
“Plus, I saw him in the swimming pool jump out of the water and land on the freaking land. This guy’s a b!tch. This guy is a hell of a football player, arguably, to some people, but not to me.
“He’s the best left tackle in the league.”
Boy, that’s a new level of dominance to Joe. Wirfs is so good he’s a woman? Joe learns something new every day. Chucky then referred to Wirfs as a “shut down” left tackle, as in if someone goes against Wirfs one-on-one, it’s over.
Joe has no idea when Wirfs will get back on the football field. He shed his crutches yesterday. That’s a good sign.
If Wirfs misses games, and the Bucs are able to still win those games, that’s got to be a massive confidence booster, surviving losing the reigning All-Pro left tackle.

Stay healthy Tristan and there is a gold jacket waiting for you.

Chucky speaks the truth. Wirfs is everything he says he is. With one exception. Hi certainly IS NOT a b!tch.

Not according to Nick Shook of NFL.coms top 10 Protector of the Year candidates. Not only did they not have him in the top 10, they didn’t have in the “also considered” category. Shook is a complete hack and a fool.

Well said Joe…Well said Chucky!
I do not get the attraction of Fantasy Football at all. Never even been tempted.
Usually some truth to old sayings. Starts up front?
Go Bucs!

I don’t play fantasy football. I’m a big fan of real NFL football. I can’t wait for September! I hope to see TW78 on the field playing at 85%+ !!!

Coach Gruden, you do understand how Fantasy Football works, right?

Love fantasy football. I’ve been playing it since 1998- long before virtually anyone knew what it was! It’s a blast.
Im up about 20 grand lifetime from playing it too. It’s nice having a lucrative hobby.. most hobbies are expensive… 🙂

He’s not entirely wrong. If a team has a good offensive line chances are the backs, receivers, and QB will have more success in fantasy.

b!tch ? Not 78 now if u said he was a b!tch killer on the field totally believable but female dog no sir probably seen him on crutches when he said it lol

I think the context he was reaching for is “Wirfs, he’s a b!tch to deal with” if you’re the defense.
When you say so many bombastic, over the top statements like a gruden, you’re going to screw it up sometimes.

@ Yall – that is exactly right.

I laughed when he was covering the Bucs defense that when he got to Jamel Dean he basically says, “Jamel Dean has been a solid player in the other corner!”. In other words, if Gruden doesn’t gush over you as a player like he did with just about everyone else then he doesn’t think much of you as a player.

Shows that Chucky never played fantasy football because left tackle doesn’t get you any points lol

Gruden doesn’t seem to understand fantasy football or common slang, but he surely knows football and offensive linemen!
