Haason Reddick Says “Maybe Double-Digit Sacks” Is His Goal

June 11th, 2025

Bucs big-money edge rusher Haason Reddick talked to media today after minicamp practice and said he’s all about grinding daily and game by game without personal goals.

And then he slammed on the brakes.

Reddick said fans and media sometimes misunderstand things; they don’t realize wanting individual greatness as an edge rusher can be a positive.

“Making sure that your own goals align with the same goals with the team. As long as that happens, I think everything should be good,” Reddick said.

“I don’t really have any individual goals, Reddick continued, before acknowledging that “maybe double-digit sacks” is what he wants but he doesn’t have a crazy number total in mind.

Man, double-digit sacks off the edge. It’s been a while since Tampa has seen that.

Of course, the talk is meaningless but it’s certainly fun. Joe remembers when Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett was entering the 2021 season. He was telling media he wanted the single-season sacks record and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

Shaq finished that season with 10 sacks, an interception and 22 QB hits.

If the Bucs can get that from Reddick this season, Joe is confident another division title will be in the Team Glazer bank.

$14mil…Double digits should be the target.

  2. Beeej Says:

Would have saved us so much money had we given Shaq the big contract after his first season

  3. Truth be Told Says:

This guy is the most important player on the team this year besides Baker of course.

September couldn’t come any faster. I cannot wait to see our matchup against ATL. Real nasty taste in my mouth just thinking about our rushers slamming into the “prodigy” of the Dirty Birds..

    I live for it!

  5. JimBobBuc Says:

If the Bucs can get QB hits with 4 or 5, the secondary will eat too. Sacks and picks will follow. (Maybe even a coverage sack???)

  6. JA Says:

    Per Google A.I.:
“Despite meeting playing time incentives with the Jets in 2024, Reddick was the only edge rusher in the NFL without a full sack with a minimum of 175 pass rushes, highlighting his limited impact.”
There’s nowhere to go but up from last year. Time for Reddick to get his s—— together.
If, if, if, if he can become reinvigorated, there’s no reason he cannot become an impact player for the Bucs. We need that to happen!

First objective of the 2025 season – BEAT ATLANTA! Then start stacking the Ws. Another division crown will follow. Everyone’s been saying it. If the D can just improve to a middle-of-the-pack performance, our offense can get us to the SB.

  8. PSL Bob Says:

You know, it’s a little disconcerting. Everyone is so confident we are going to kick arse this year, not making the playoffs would be a huge downer. I still have some residual doubt lingering from the lost decade!

MOST important!! Baker can throw for 75 TD’s but it won’t mean a hill of beans if the D doesn’t hold. We experienced that last year. #3 offense but couldn’t get a rookie QB off the field in the playoffs. 2nd most important is Dennis closing that black hole in the middle of our passing defense.

    It’s not big money!

  11. Fan of the South Says:

1984 Bears had the most team sacks with 72, gave up 15.5 a game, and still finished 10-6.

1989 Vikings were 2nd with 71, gave up 17.2 points a game and also finished
    10-6.

Best scoring defense Ravens and 5th Bucs all time did not even make the list of the top 25 team sack leaders.

Way too much focus on sacks. Timely sacks are great but I don’t see much value on having two double digit sack guys on the edges if they are so focused on rushing the QB and are not doing what they are supposed to do. Protect the Edge.

Then again teams can stock up on Cheap Corners to get beat up / injured cleaning up the mess.

  12. Saskbucs Says:

Reddick is far from the most important player from us as far as I am concerned.

The DBs stay healthy, Diaby, Braswell, Nelson and Walker should be enough to continue stacking wins with our offense.

Guys I think are more important that Reddick…
    Baker
    Wirfs
    David
    Vea
    Winfield
    Goedeke
    Barton
    Evans

We don’t wanna see Charlie Heck in the lineup for too long I don’t think. If Hainsey was still around I wouldn’t worry about Barton but I think he’s gonna be great for us in the middle this season.

  13. Truth be Told Says:

there is nothing to worry about this year as far as the Offense is concerned. It’s the Pass Defense that is key this year. He is the Key to the Pass Rush this year No? Yes. Point made. Go Bucs!!

  14. TBChucky Says:

Can’t blame him for not wanting to be a Jet… Hopefully he’s glad to be a Buc!

  15. garro Says:

    Talks well…

    Go Bucs!
