Bucs Avoid International Game In Madrid

May 13th, 2025

Joe is exhaling.

There was a chance for a Bucs road game this season in Madrid, Spain, against the Dolphins. But that evaporated when the NFL announced today it would be the Commanders that got stuck with the long trip for the November 16 matchup.

Thank the football gods!

The Bucs went 3-5 after playing Germany in 2022, and Todd Bowles apparently left his mind in Munich. Anyone remember what happened in Cleveland two weeks after that big Germany win against Seattle?

In 2011, the Bucs imploded after a trip to England and lost every game the rest of the season. In 2019, Jameis Winston lost his mind in England back in 2019 and threw five interceptions. Was it the Shepherd’s pie?

The official schedule release is Wednesday at 8 p.m.

The only schedule leak to date is the Bucs facing the Rams in Los Angeles on Thanksgiving night.

Have they avoided week 1 against the Chargers in Brazil?

  2. Aqualung Says:

Coach can have the Bucs flat for home or road games. An equal opportunity flattener.

    Go Bucs

Suppose Mayfield can sign. Well I’ve never been to Spain but I’ve been to Oklahoma.

I love that pic of Mikey.

Glad the Commanders have to go near the end of the season. That might spell their postseason if they’re in contention.

Billy, the Bucs don’t play the Chargers this year.

Has it cleared customs yet? Wait, never mind.

Obviously not after watching the playoff game vs the Skins.

Carry on sir. You at least get it about Bowles being the main issue.

Spain is a great place to visit but they can get Paella in the off-season. Short weeks on the west coast is enough.

I’m glad the rumors were correct:

As for the Madrid game – I’ve seen rumors that Miami’s opponent will either be the Bengals or the Commandos.

  16. Fred McNeil Says:

Jmark buc, I’m pretty sure the Thanksgiving game is on Prime Video like all the other Thursday Night games. I think that’s about the only way to watch it. I guess the schedule comes out in a little over an hour.

  17. FortMyersDave Says:

This is a year when the Bucs only have 8 home games. It is basically a fact that the Bucs are never the road team for international games so count on an international game next year with the Bucs as the home team.

  18. Scotty Mack Says:

If the schedulers are truly kind, they will have the Bucs as the week 12 matchup for the Falcons. The Falcons are playing in Germany in week 11 (a horrible time of year to send a team abroad) and will lose a lot of prep time the following (week 12) as well as having to deal with jet lag.
