His comment yesterday about the head coach search had me scratching my head.He said he would address the H.C search next week when it’s all over.??

  5. FlBoy84 Says:

The fact that many completely miss the fact that this team has probably underperformed

Good ending to the podcast, Ira…

Bowles inherited a 13-4 team that has been loaded with Pro-Bowl quality players at multiple positions on both sides of the ball since he took over. He promptly “led” them to Brady’s only losing season in his 23yr career at 8-9, then subsequent 9-8, 10-7 records. The fact that everyone rates winning the division as success, after multiple years of being legit SB contenders every season, says a LOT about the low standards many Bucs fans have developed over the years. Really don’t think winning the division is a low standard. Bowles didn’t inherit a 13-4 team loaded with stars. He inherited a team with an aging out quarterback and one that lost mutiple stars (Gronk, Suh, AB) and was kicked in the groin by losing its Pro Bowl center before opening day. –Joe

It’s also hilarious saying Bowles deserves respect, but then turn around and say if he lost to the Saints he’s probably fired. According to some, he’s done a great job & “he’s better than most” yet ranks around 20th in career win% & one game towards the end of this season would decide his future. Make it make sense lol.

Look at his complete 3 year tenure as Bucs HC objectively and ask yourself, other than Coen & Co’s massive improvement on O this season, where has this team shown legit improvement in overall performance during that time? Personally see continued underperformance across the board when considering the talent avaiable, and other than Smith & McCollum (3rd & 5th) there’s been no real improvement or development from any of the MULTIPLE 1st-3rd round draft picks on D. Most are either stagnant or shown only flashes. The difference between SB winning coaches/players like BB, BA, Gruden, Brady, Bowles, is that those guys demanded the absolute best out of their players/teammates on a daily basis. It seems obvious that’s never been a Bowles trait starting with his time in NY and it’s continued here. That’s pretty clear just watching the player performance over the last 3 seasons, & pretty certain it helped make Brady’s decision to retire even easier having to work in that environment, after his years under BB & BA. Looking back, recall most of the players saying they were going to carry-on the mindset Tom brought, but the results say otherwise because it wasn’t continually enforced by their HC once Tom left.

Hard to imagine, considering our talent level on both sides of the ball, that any other 1st year HC would fair much worse than Bowles has. There’s a reason he has less than a .450 career win% after 8 years and ranked 22nd going into this season. Disappointing so many are perfectly fine to overlook that fact & settle for mediocrity year after year, considering our laughingstock days are behind us. The Glazers and fans should expect more.

FlBoy84. Make a monumental mistake like replacing Bowles it won’t be long before those laughingstock days you’re talking about are right back on the doorstep. Me and my hound just listened to our favorite podcast and our chipper mood will not be spoiled by your nonsense. We were a play away from the NFC Championship game last year. We’re alive and confident playing a home playoff game this year. 2 new OCs each of last 2 years. The year before that dealing with an over the hill QB. Todd has done a tremendous job and if you think that’s mediocrity year after year you truly need your head examined FlBoy84.

  9. unbelievable Says:

Amen Ira! Time for the highest paid safety to show up!

    30 – 27 Bucs is my prediction.

Also in the first game against Washington, Bucky had 9 carries for 62 yards (though half those yards came from a single 31 yard scamper) so he wasn’t exactly a non-factor back then either.

@FlBoy84 – I have plenty of issues with Bowles, but his record as a HC with other teams is completely meaningless to us. Here’s the facts:
    – 0.529 win percentage in the regular season with the Bucs
    – 0.519 win percentage including the post season with the Bucs
    – Team record has improved each year with the Bucs
    – We’ve won the division / made playoffs each year he’s coached the Bucs

It is what it is. Get someone to help him with clock management is all I ask.

  10. FlBoy84 Says:

Disagree, but thankfully everyone is still entitled to their own opinion (for now) lol. We’ll see how things play out, but think in time it will become obvious to the Glazers that Todd, just like Tony, is not the guy to get this team another SB and will make the right call. Don’t think he’s gotten the most out of this group during any of the three years he’s been Bucs HC, obv some think otherwise. His record as a HC isn’t an accident, his D continues to decline similar to his time in NY, & his game/clock management hasn’t improved even in Year 8. No idea what others are seeing.

  11. unbelievable Says:

^ FTR I agree with you on all of Todd’s deficiencies. I’ve been screaming about them for years.

Just pointing out that his record as Bucs HC is good and has improved each year. I don’t think the Glazers are itching to risk that changing, especially after the lost decade of suckage.

  12. RASH Says:

Hey Kenton, we shoulda been back to Super Bowl year 2 with Tom Brady. But Bowles had his canned excuse of mis-communication while letting the only reviever Rams had get un covered with less than a minute to go to give up game. Todd Toilet Bowles has been a head coach 8 years and is under .500%. He is dumb, hard headed, stupid philosophy, abortion like time mgmt., guy is dumb
BUT doesnt call out players so is a players coach, like Raheem the Dream , Dumby Smith, give us a coach with a brain.

  13. Kenton Smith Says:

Yeah RASH the toughest thing to watch for me these last couple years since I have been a fan has been this seemingly soft pass defense. And the play you talk about against the Rams really made people mad and I get it. I was mad leaving Ford Field in Detroit last January after being tied in the 4th quarter and then we went into cover who and got thrashed. But there’s more to what makes this team so good than meets the eye. It’s a team game and Bowles knows alot more than I do. He was an NFL safety. He’s been a DC alot of NFL years. Let’s see how the playoffs go, he’s got the team looking good.

  14. heyjude Says:

Fun and coconuts podcast! I seem to remember Dunkin and Krispy Kreme both having toasted coconut donuts years ago.

Liam being offered a HC job is something he may not want to refuse, however I agree with the advice to be patient. Some owners want a miracle in a year and you can be let go just like that.

    Nice nuggets!

Baker is mobile. Watching him at times it’s amazing how he gets out of harms way. He has unbelievable grit! I would love to see them score high early and keep it going through to the end for the win.

  15. Jwg813 Says:

People on this site bash Bowles often include myself but everybody else has nothing but praise for this man. Including the players. Maybe there is something to that. I am a Bucs fan for life no matter how bad we are. Go BUCS
