Gronk Defines “A Solid Team”

November 18th, 2024

Are the Bucs a good team, a solid team?

Per the words of Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski, Bucs fans from Riverview to Reddington Beach are about to find out.

On Sunday, the Bucs play a Giants team that is truly woeful — 2-8 and they just benched their starting quarterback for their third-stringer. Again, that’s not their backup QB, it’s the No. 3 guy.

How bad are the Giants? They’ve been blown out twice at home this season and lost to the Panthers in England. The four-win Bengals also beat them by two scores in New Jersey.

OK. So the Giants stink. That means, per Gronk, if the Bucs are any good, they’ll hammer the Giants or at least be in total control of the game.

“This is how you know you’re one of the best teams in the NFL,” Gronk said on FOX yesterday. “It’s when you play a lower tier team, a team that’s not doing so well, one of the worst teams in the league, and you beat the breaks off of them. If you don’t let them stay in the game, that’s when you know when you know you’re a solid team.”

Gronk went on to say that Bill Belicheat always would lecture his Patriots to “don’t play down” to the standards of a poor football team.

The Bucs are coming off a bye week and have no excuses not to push around the Giants. New York also is coming off a bye week and will play before a hostile home crowd ready to boo them before halftime.

Joe sure hopes the Bucs finish Sunday meeting Gronk’s definition of “a solid team.” Some style points would be nice for a change. Those haven’t been around since the Bucs rolled the slimy Saints in New Orleans.

  2. MadMax Says:

One loss on this run and its finally over for todd….Coen becomes our new hc…..dont ask me how i see this but i see it

  3. FlBoy84 Says:

Won’t be surprised if DeVito gives the home team & crowd some juice and perplexes Bowles D in the process to keep the game close, if not score the upset.

  4. PSL Bob Says:

Any word on whether or not Evans is a possibility for the Giants game?

  5. View from 132 Says:

You could read what he said and apply to the Giants. They are probably being told not to play down to the Bucs. Losing streak. Missing key guys. Poor defense. The Giants are probably like their chances.

  6. BallHawk75 Says:

Never put a wounded animal in a corner. They will lash out with all their mite.

This has trap game written all over it. Or in our case with Bowels, any given Sunday.

If you can’t beat a guy riding the pine behind an really bad QB, you deserve to get run.

The bell toles for thee scarecrow.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

IF the Giants beat us. I am going to LMAO. And guess what? They just might. Remember our glorious record of making rookie QB’s look like all world when they play us.

  8. NJbucs23 Says:

I was gonna go up there from south jersey. But I seen 2 games already in Tampa (WSh, atl). I don’t need to be mad driving 2 hours back down the NJ turnpike.

    Go Bucs !

  9. David Says:

The Bucs are capable of beating any team: see Lions, Commanders, Eagles wins and coming down to the wire against KC and the 49ers.

They are also capable of losing to any team: see Broncos and ATL twice.

They need to be focused and at 100% every week.

  10. churrasco Says:

Joe loves to trash other teams and their quarterbacks and then they smoke us.

  11. heyjude Says:

Gronk is right on point. We do have a solid team. Coming off a bye week is good for us too.

  12. unbelievable Says:

LMAO the Bucs always play down to their competition.

Also, what is Todd Bowles’ career record after a bye week?

  13. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

Losing teams love to play spoiler. Bucs need to score fast and often.

  14. Proudbucsfan Says:

Our team has no discipline, Coaches fault. Even if we go on a win streak Todd Bowles should be fired. We need a coach that will demand consistency and stability from our fundamental’s on defense.

  15. Al Says:

Bucs have a long history of losing to backup QBs or first time timer starters…See Brock Purdy or Marcus Marios or even this year vs denver. Giants will win.

  16. garro Says:

The new QB syndrome is cranking up in the back of my head Joe. I am prepared for a massive disappointment this time though. Todd just can’t seem to do crap against unknown QBs. Makes you wonder if a college QB could put up All Pro numbers against us.

    Gronk aint wrong though.

    Go Bucs!

  17. Dave Pear Says:

Everyone knows that not only is Coich going to have the Bucs flatter than a 12 inch silicon wafer, he is going to make Danny Devito look like Dan Marino.

Expect a loss. Hammer the Giants on every bet.

  18. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

He’s not a rookie. There should be film on him.
    No excuses.

  19. BuckyBuc Says:

    Solid team, garbage head coach

  20. infomeplease Says:

This team is a solid team when playing at or near full strength 💪! Too many injuries to too many key players has cost them 2 or 3. wins! It also doesn’t help when your HC plays not to lose instead of to win! Anyone who saw the Bills/KC game knows what I’m talking about! That easily could have been the Bucs beating KC if only TB grew a pair!

  21. JD Still Says:

Can’t fault Gronk’s reasoning, a good team should beat a bad team handily, but , good is what good does, mediocre is what mediocre does. In the final analysis, You are what Your record says you are, contender or pretender , We will see in the coming weeks .
