Danny Dimes Benched For Giants; Bucs “Expected” To Face Tommy DeVito

November 18th, 2024

Likely new Giants QB.

The Bucs’ next opponent coming Sunday is the Giants. And the Bucs, it appears, will be facing a backup quarterback.

The Giants have benched former first-round pick Danny Dimes. He was having a woeful season. Per Daniel Jones’ contract, if he happens to get hurt this season and/or can’t pass a March physical, the team would be on the hook for $23 million guaranteed.

So with Danny Dimes benched, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, rather than playing dummy Drew Lock, the Giants are going with former Illinois legend and favorite Son of New Jersey Tommy DeVito.

So now the Bucs must prepare to play a sub most famous for having an agent who thinks he’s living in the early 1960s and a family known for tailgating while preparing chicken cutlets.

  1. Bobby M. Says:

He’ll have a career day….Bowles struggles against QBs with little film and he brings a different style of QB play to the offense which means whatever the Giants were putting on tape with Jones is now somewhat worthless. We’ll play vanilla zone defense forcing the QB to beat us via dunk and dunk. Bowles chokes in this one and it may be the final nail.

  2. Pewter Power Says:

The comments will tell you just how much faith anyone has in Bowles. We’ll win but it win inspire any kind of confidence

  3. Armybucsfan Says:

We can only hope Bobby. As much as I love my Bucs we need Bowles out of here. He is killing this team and wasting away valuable years of talented players. He has dbs playing 10 yards off their receivers when the opposing team only needs 3 yards for a first down. (it makes me fukin sick to my stomach watching that kinda of defense). Our team can’t continue to hope for wins if the defense lets the opposing teams score at will, especially when two of our best receivers are hurt for the season – and yes I’m adding Evan’s to that list cus he will play hurt but he won’t be as productive as we are used to.

  4. Hodad Says:

    He’s a nice Italian boy from N.Y.!

  5. Bucsfan Says:

Bucs will defeat Giants beginning our run to the playoffs.

  6. pewter941 Says:

    Fogettaboutit!!

  7. View from 132 Says:

I’ll have chicken cutlets on Sunday. Bucs should win, but I wouldn’t bet this game. Every chance that Bowles return to Jersey is a disaster.

  8. firethecannons Says:

Todd Bowles has a way of making the the backup famous

  9. jugheadfla Says:

this smells likes a play down to the garbage type of Bowels loss with an excuse of we have to coach better or communication issues…just saying

  10. RagingBrisket Says:

Throw Danny from the Train, starring Tommy DeVito

  11. Mark Says:

Probably missing Zyon and Dean, so very thin in the secondary.

Would not be surprised if they hold Evans out for another week to avoid the killer turf at MetLife. With Wirfs out, likely an ugly, low scoring affair. Hopefully the Bucs can keep mistakes to a minimum and grind out the W.

  12. Statistically Insignificant Reader Says:

DeVito will have a career day. Compliments of Todd Bowles.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tommy DeVito looks like he could be Stallone’s grandson in that picture, lol.

Good news. At this point, I’ll take wins however we can get them. Anything to buy healing time for the players.

  14. JimBobBuc Says:

I’d rather face Jones. Bowles defense will play soft and let DeVito beat them.

This game might be the Bill Belichick Bowl as Bill could end up coaching one of these teams next year.

  15. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Take the Over on the amount of times the camera goes to his clown shoe agent in the stands acting like a buffoon.

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Divito had 43 TDs and 16 Ints in college. 133 QR. 10 rushing TDs, but not many rushing yards (253). Had a losing record in college (15-16).

He was undrafted, signed last year with the giants.

NFL Experience…214 plays in 9 games for 1296 yards combined. An average of about 6 yards per play. During that period, he was sacked 37 (for a loss of 196 yards) times…so he doesn’t have great pocket awareness. Two fumbles.

This kid is going to be a spot on the grass.

  17. PassingThru Says:

Even Danny DeVito would have been an upgrade at QB.

  18. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

At this point I’m rooting for higher draft positioning and a head coach named Liam Coen.

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m marking this one down as a win.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    HomerSimpsonRocks Says:
“…and a head coach named Liam Coen.”

That would be a huge mistake.

  21. heyjude Says:

This mixes stuff up, that is for sure. Devito is loved and will get a lot of hype this week.

Thinking cutlets, feast of the seven fishes, pasta, Italian cookies, and so many other wonderful family memories when seeing Tommy.

However, with that being said, the Bucs can win this game. We will have Mike back too. Go Bucs!

  22. Al Says:

Giants win! The Bucs always do bad against new QBs.

  23. SenileSenior Says:

DeVito has the Italian look but does not look like Stallone to me.

Go Bucs! Shock the fans and wipe the Giants, say 31-6! Its a Buc life.

  24. Pops Malone Says:

Bowles will find a way to lose. We never play well up there and DeVito will pick his defense apart. And when its over, he will talk about communication issues again….so when the season ends, we can then communicate two words to him that will not be an issue for him to understand…”You’re fired”.
    Please prove me wrong Coach….

  25. Kgh4life Says:

    Just blitz him, problem solved.

  26. David Kilmer Says:

I think he has started for the Giants before and had a few good games. I don’t know at this point this defense is so bad and if we have 2 rookies at corner Sunday, alonng with Britt in the middle , I can see the Giants winning this one. I am a big Bucs fan an eternal optimist,However, admitting losing to the Giants and a back up qb, may end all this playoff talk with this team and lead to a higher draft position. Please remember this defense is nearly at the bottom of the league in almost every catagory. I don’t believe the next 6 games things are suddenly going to change that much for this defense. Sorry this defense is just plain bad in to many areas.

  27. unbelievable Says:

Lmao here we go, another Backup Bowles Blunder

  28. Beeej Says:

    Mark it Donny!

  29. Cobraboy Says:

    Great.

He is another rook QB who gets to establish his NFL cred against a lame Buc D.

We have seen this movie before…

  30. Pewter Power Says:

Backup corners + no pass rush + Todd Bowles as head coach uh Bucs fans be on upset alert when a quarterback is comfortable in the pocket against his defense

  32. GenocideD Says:

We’re gonna get smoked. We always lose to QBs we should be eating alive. Sad but true. 🙁

  33. Bojim Says:

Sunday us a must win or their will be north heart left. Backup QB. We’re doomed. Doomed I say.

  34. Mike Johnson Says:

Well, you all know our history with backup QBs. We make them look like all world. And we have done it repeatedly. IF we lose against the Giants I am going to LMAO. And Todd Bowles should be fired immediately after the game. Don’t even allow him to give a press conference. Let the Glazers give it.

  35. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Joe what happened to my post?????

  36. Gofortheface30 Says:

26-33 405 yards 4 TD’s for DeVito. A Todd Bowles special coming right up

  37. ElioT Says:

    Uh oh.

I agree- career day incoming for Tommy boy.

    Seen this before

  38. Lord Cornelius Says:

Please no. I can’t take this anymore lol. Just no. Stop having these rando’s throw all over us please

  39. WM Says:

Here’s to the Bucs giving up another 300 yards passing. Bucs historically suck against back up QB’s But I’m sure TOILET BOWELS has a plan just hope they can communicate it to each other 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

  40. StormyInFl Says:

Fedex Air Player of The week – Tommy DeVito.

Coach Toilet makes backups and assorted schlubs look like all pros on the regular.

  41. Let ‘em bake Says:

Bowles begins his coach of the year march here. 6-1 the rest of the way in. “ coach bowles, with a decimated defense and half strength offense, has somehow coddled together another nfc south division crown, edging out the hapless falcons who limp in at 9-8. Against a brutal schedule, Bowles shepherded this team to a 10-7 mark. Liam corns offense provided just enough, as mayfield ends a Career regular season, with 38 tds”.

  42. gotbbucs Says:

Should make the loss feel a little worse.

  43. Bosch Says:

    42 – 38 Giants.

  44. DBS Says:

The only way this is good is if the Giants are Tanking. Nobody in the world has to ask about Bowles making backup QB’S on other teams look like.

  45. TampaBucfanClarke Says:

He’s going to look like a top 5 QB vs this crap ass defense.

  46. Another J Says:

Uh oh, Another backup quarterback is going against the famous Todd Bowles Cover Who? Defense!
We excel at making backup quarterbacks look like Pro Bowlers.

  47. BPBucsfan Says:

350 yards passing, probably 2 TD’s to Malik Neighbors

  48. Vanessa Anne Says:

    Tommy Cutlets, huh?

    Hmnn…

I’m hopeful, but given our recent experiences with rookie and backup QBs, I’m not going to bet the farm, lol.

    Go BUCS!! Win this one!

  49. Dave Pear Says:

    Headline in the Post:

“Danny Devito throws for 400 yards and 4 TDs against the Bucs”

“Big Blue fans happily shocked at how wide open Giants’ receivers were all night.”

  50. Dave Pear Says:

Well at least the Bucs didn’t waste a week practicing. The way coich has them playing, no need for practice. It would be like practicing the “trip whiff and fall.” Coich’s guys know how to do that instinctively. Maybe he’ll let them have this week off, too.

  51. Warrenfb12 Says:

Great there goes our chance of winning. Table is set for the devito to roast the bucs defense and do the stupid pinched fingers thing. Will be the top story on espn.

  52. EEK Says:

hopefully this is the start of the tank for #1 for the Giants

if our pass rush shows up, DeVito is going to have a long day — just got to start with 1 win

we know Baker is going to show up with offense and score some points

  53. LongSeason Says:

    We are facing Danny DeVito?

  54. Xristos Says:

It will not surprise me to see him throw for 300 yds and 3 TDs, carving our soft zones with his receivers running wide open with the Bucs defenders 10 yds off.
I will be surprised if our Defense is aggressive and make him uncomfortable causing mistakes.
I just cant watch the opponents receivers being wide open all over the field again. Honeslty i m tired. We dont contest anything. We are being too soft on coverage and we get hands on like only a couple of passes. Its insane. I mean a few times we see the DBs being 10yds off even when we call a blitz which defeats the purpose of the blitz. Too passive, too soft.
    Go Bucs

  55. DBS Says:

Won’t matter if they Blitz. Qb will just scramble and slide away. Ball will be out of his hands and in a wide open receivers hands.

  56. churrasco Says:

In only his second season, however unlike the quarterback-development-dysfunctional Bucs, the Giants have given him a good amount of live NFL game action, enough to put up a decent stat line. He’ll be ready.

  57. Rod Munch Says:

Joe, that’s one of your better headlines. Great job.

  58. Aaron Says:

We’ve been in this movie before
