“A Professional Organization”

November 26th, 2024

An outsider, a true Falcons doubter, chimes in.

So fans have plenty to count on when it comes to the 2024 Bucs.

And perhaps the biggest thing, which gets magnified this time of year when some teams are quitting, is that the Bucs come to play and the club is not among the clown shows of NFL franchises.

That’s not something to celebrate with shots of bourbon and close friends, but it’s at least worth acknowledging.

The Bucs have quality organizational leadership. Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht is in the upper tier of GMs, and Todd Bowles may not be a great tactician or game manager, but players respect him and the Bucs are not battling a bunch of internal turmoil.

“Tampa’s a professional organization” is what former defensive end Chris Long called the Bucs on his popular Green Light podcast this week.

It’s a reason he thinks the Bucs very likely will win the NFC South.

Long, the two-time Super Bowl winner, says the Falcons (6-5) “are not a serious outfit right now, in my opinion. Because of the way the team was built.”

Long added that he has no confidence the Falcons beat bad teams because of how they’re playing.

Of course, being “professional” doesn’t win games. But the Bucs (5-6) have more than enough talent, combined with their professionalism, to go beat the five remaining teams on their schedule with very bad records.

There are no viable excuses for the Bucs to stumble going forward.

The good teams, the good organizations, play their best ball late in a season.

Let’s hope we play our best game, one at a time.

    On to Carolina.

  2. Cobraboy Says:

Well, that “unprofessional” Falcon team is 2-0 against the “professional” Bucs team.

  3. Gipper Says:

Not sure about defensive talent on Bucs. There will be 5 new defensive starters next year.

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Cobra – both games were stolen!

  5. Tye Says:

All that is really missing from the Bucs is a good winner as HC with a respectable football I.Q….

  6. BigPoppaBuc Says:

    The cream(scicle) will rise.

  7. ReturnGrudenToRing Says:

The Bucs have raised losing in a trap game to an art form mostly due to the misnamed “defensive guru” head coach. They are due for another loss. Hope I am wrong.

As a fan that followed Mayfield from the Clowns, this take is 💯

The fans here, however, are first team stupid

Hilarious post JK, appreciate the perspective.

This next game is going to say a lot about how the rest of the season will go.

  11. Baking with Coen Says:

In 2002 the Saints swept us and you know what happened that season.

We won the NFC South. History tells us anything is possible.

  12. Baking with Coen Says:

In 2020 the media was laughing at the Bucs prior to the regular season. How did that worked out?!?! I just saying. History tends to repeat itself.

Let’s Tuck, Buck, White and BAKE!!!!

  13. Herbiebuc Says:

They also swept us in 2020

  14. orlbucfan Says:

Baloney. Bucs fans raised the coin back in the mid 1970s to buy the franchise. The NFL ownership screwed them over by bringing up a white collar criminal from So. FL named Hugh Culverhouse. NFL cut the franchise price in half, and the rest is a sorry curse except for 1979. I am very proud to be a loyal Bucs fan, but I call BS when I read it.

  15. SenileSenior Says:

I am in the one-game-at-a-time camp also. On a given day any NFL team can beat any other team.

Today’s Buccaneer franchise is in good shape. We are striving for consistency so that we can sustain relevance now and in the coming years.

    Go Bucs!

  16. Bucs4Ever Says:

Yeah cuz they’ve done a great job with Man U

one game at a time. Carolina is a trap game.

    JK
Don’t judge all Bucs fans based on those who post on JBF.
I think I recall Joe saying once that less than ten percent of those who visit this site actually post anything. And a fair number of them are nothing more than trolls.

  21. Bucs Guy Says:

If the Bucs don’t make the playoffs, Bowles is gone and Coen will be the new HC. I heard this rumor from Dirk Koeter, the Bucs former OC promoted to HC because the Bucs were afraid they would lose him to another team.

  22. heyjude Says:

Absolutely trust the Glazer family. When most of us became Bucs fans; Culverhouse was the owner…

The Bucs almost won those two Falcon games this season. The refs blatantly favored them. Some dirty plays. And there should have been a camera on Kyle Pitts going into the end zone. No TD, but they were given it. And I am trying to forget about coin tosses.

  23. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

    JK,

I second what gp says. Of course there is nothing wrong with level headed criticism of anyone associated with our favorite team, and even emotional outbursts are a given. Fan is short for fanatic.

But being a “famous in their own mind” troll is what some people strive for, and should be ignored. They are the same people who consider it a successful day if the cashier at Publix misses a BOGO.

    A Bucs Fan Says:

@Cobra – both games were stolen!

No game is stolen when your D gives up 500 yards through the air.

  25. shaftmaster Says:

I’m just glad the Blazers are much better owners than Culverhouse was. I do see a positive difference in team culture and I think it’ll continue, which hopefully translates to wins and playoff appearances. Once in the playoffs, any team can get hot and make a run. Let’s hope it’s the Bucs.

  26. Bucs4Ever Says:

    Win or get fired.

Simple as that. Outside of the Brady years…Licht has a losing record.

Time to start looking at Jason as well. He has a lot more screw ups than EVans, Wirfs, etc

The d line and LB corp is one of the worst in the league. Way too many busts. Anyone that has been a GM for THAT long at any team is going to have some hits.

    Too many misses.

  27. Bucs4Ever Says:

Correction – Licht has a LOSING RECORD OVERALL even with Brady.

WHat does that tell you? A lot of losing. Licht owns it all. One Brady lottery SB.

How long does that get you in this league before you are flushed?

  28. Dave Pear Says:

The organization is professional. The precision with which the defense executes is a direct result of the coaching they are getting.lets go, Bucs.

  29. Sacker58 Says:

Since Malcolm Glazer purchased the Bucs it has always been a professionally run franchise.
Since his passing his sons have been up to the task to keep it that way.
I am so glad they are here and wish them and our beloved Bucs a ton of success.
