“I Had Nothing To Do With Anything”

September 23rd, 2024

Who is running the show?

Want to know any specifics about why the Bucs offense did what it did (or didn’t do) yesterday. Well, Bucs coach Todd Bowles has a suggestion for you:

Ask Liam Coen.

Bowles seemed to shrug off a question today about why Bucky Irving didn’t have as many carries as Rachaad “Two Yards” White. Bowles, in so many words, said he wasn’t calling the shots on offense.

“I had nothing to do with anything,” Bowles responded to the Bucky Irving question. “We were behind. We threw it a little bit more.

“Rachaad is probably a little bit better of a pass protector at this point. But Bucky has definetly earned more reps.”

So this is interesting to Joe. Does Bowles not have a say in the offense on gamedays? Coen didn’t seem to imply that after Week 1.

Coen two weeks ago said of his offense, “Until Todd [Bowles] tells me to take the foot off the gas, we’re going to try to go.” Coen said. Coen also raved about Bowles’ in-game feedback.

So is Bowles not having say-so in what running back Coen uses and when? This is very strange to Joe.

is this not the opposite of accountability? these teams are laughing at us because we cant run the ball or get to the QB. We were singing their praises last week but eventually this would come crashing down. i am so scared of a total collapse if we lose sunday to the eagles. the next three game stretch is so paramount to how this season will go. we need our defenders back very very fast. this is a nightmare.

joe – here is a homework assignment (if looking for one). WHat is the bucs record when they give up an opening drive touchdown to start the game and down 7-0 in the bowles era. I would actually think we have never won. Games immediately that spring to mind: 2022 packers, 2022 chiefs, 2023 saints, 2024 broncos. all horrific games in an of themselves. i dont understand how a team can just totally play so bad. it is a bucs life and i am so sick and tired of this. the players always act all shocked too. like how? hearing all those bronco fans wow that was embarassing. i am so pissed off right now.

It seems this team if they give up an opening drive touchdown, they wilter. And i think in all those games i mentioned, i am pretty sure the offense goes three and out and were actually down 14-0. AND all of those games were at home. i am absolutely disgusted.

Like things would’ve turned out different if Bowles was involved in the offense.
    Please.

Todd…stay the f//k out of the offense.

Todd Bowles is wearing two hats already. It’s hard enough to be the HC/OC at the same time. It would be nearly impossible to get involved with the offense too. What people don’t realize is that Liam Coen is a first time play caller at the NFL level. He called plays at Kentucky, but when he was OC with the Rams, Sean McVay called the plays. In other words Liam Coen is learning on the job.

    He’s a rookie

  6. Ol' Boy Says:

Well, as long as Todd doesn’t know and Liam thinks he does, we should be just fine.

The two deep safety defense invites quick slants over the middle. Not sure why the Coen didn’t consistently go with these and force the safeties up. In the 4th Q Bucs finally threw under the zone for easy 5 -7 yards completions. With a depleted O line and the safeties laying deep it was pointless to try to throw the ball down deep. Should just take what defense allows. Hope this was a lesson learned.

    **HC/DC* at the same time

That was a very typical Kentucky-start’ from last season! An absolute mirror image. And, it all started with the run up the gut, then only downhill from there… It just set the tone & I knew it and saw it, IMMEDIATELY. Slow. No pace. No tempo. NO rhythm. No purpose. It’s pathetic. And, it is exactly HOW Kentucky was dead LAST in the entire NATION last season in ‘number of plays ran’ per game. Dead. Last. EVEN, during the 4th Quarter yesterday (trailing big-time), they continued to run the play-clock all the way down before finally snapping the damm BALL. And, in doing so, allowing the Broncos pass rushers the chance to just pin their ears back and anticipate the SNAP. We never stood a chance. Ever. I felt-like I was living in the Twilight Zone. Was afraid of that.

I’m going to stick my neck out with this one. With all the questionable and blatantly incorrect referee calls and all the “parity” and all the unexpected losses AND all the MONEY and all the focus on betting and odds and fantasy football and all the legal gambling could something unsavory be going on ? Is it at all possible the hardworking, loyal fans are having their pockets picked by a highly organized group of pickpockets ? Are many of the fans unaware and falling for the deception ?

A weird nugget is home field advantage and using the heat to our advantage we definitely looked like the sluggish team yesterday I think the rest days are effecting our vets as far as conditioning the broncos was definitely unfazed all game yesterday by the elements. Logan hall still is Logan hall caught him lacking on very high percentage angles to make stops he just lacks juice and instincts

C’mon @Joe he meant to say it had nothing to do with anything. Stop reaching. Listen to the question.

I knew that would get moderated. Let’s see if it makes it thru.

Joe heard the question. And more importantly Joe heard Todd Bowles’ answer.
