Calijah Kancey Wants Double-Digit Sacks

Beastly second-year defensive tackle Calijah Kancey has big dreams and Joe’s not about to bet against the guy.
It’s brutally difficult for an inside pass rusher to hit the 10-sack mark in a season, but it’s certainly been done by the greats of the game.
Heck, six-time Pro Bowl Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy cranked out a 9 1/2-sack season in 2013, so why not Kancey?
McCoy got there with an incredibly miserable edge rush complementing him in 2013. Hopefully, Kancey will have better around him this year, in addition to an extra game in the regular season.
Speaking yesterday, Kancey did not shy away from sharing his 2024 goals with the local Tampa Bay media. He said he wants to win a Super Bowl this year, notch “double-digit sacks,” play for the No. 1 defense and “continue to wreak havoc.”
Kancey had four sacks last season in his NFL debut year. Vita Vea’s career high is 6 1/2 in 2022. Hall of Fame Bucs DT Warren Sapp had three double-digit sacks season before notching a fourth with the Raiders.
Again, it’s a brutal ask for an inside rusher to get 10 sacks, but Joe loves Kancey’s attitude.
It’s probably just a fantasy, but Kancey certainly seems to have the fiery hunger to get there. And that level of desire is usually the difference between a 10 sacks season and something significantly less.

I think he gets 12. Might sound crazy but he looked unblockable against Detroit 2. Most teams have to double Vea so that leaves CK 1-1.

Lotsa talk when he came out about Kancey being the 2nd coming of Aaron Donald – because of the similarities in position, size, speed and both went to Pitt.
Donald hit double digit sacks 6 times in his 10 year career – including 20.5 in 2018…… and averaged 11.5 sacks per year for his career.
So if there’s any truth to that comparison – then why not?

Dave Pear, I hope you are right. I watched the game tape on Kancey against the Eagles in the playoff game and he totally dominated the Eagles offensive line. He was an absolute beast. Notice how Kancey is always talking about improving his game and how he is doing it and compare it to Devin White who only wanted to talk about how much money he wanted to make. Winfield speaks the same way as Kancey as do a number of other Buc players. White was a cancer on this team towards the end and it was a good thing the Bucs cut it out.

You know I was very nervous when they drafted this guy. Even the first half of the season I really wasn’t impressed. The second half he’s really showing signs of elite talent. I think he can get DD sacks. He’s definitely getting better about his disruptive activities. He’s very thorough and athletic. If he was 6-3 to 6-6 nobody could touch this guy.

He has several pass rush moves in a single rush and he beats the IOL off the snap with quickness. Bigger non mobile guys have zero chance. He is definitely getting 10+ this year. Only an injury can stop him.

Said it the night we drafted him and Nothing has changed.
DEFINITELY get this guys jersey! It’s not only a Great investment, it’s a Wise investment.. We will brag about him for Many years to come. Perhaps forever….
