Commandos-Bucs Preview

May 17th, 2024

Stats outfit has Week 1 preview.

The NFL schedule was just released but that doesn’t mean we can’t preview Week 1 with the Commandos coming to town to face the Bucs!

You think this is crazy? Well, it’s certainly unique. And the man behind it is none other than the former shot-caller of the Dixie Chicks, Thomas Dimitroff.

No longer working for an NFL team, Bill Belicheat’s former gopher in Cleveland is now the CEO of the stats outfit Sumer Sports. And Dimitroff’s gang wasted little time in getting previews up of all the Week 1 games.

In the preview, Sumer Sports has the Bucs with an advantage in damn near every category. Of the 16 team categories, eight for offense and eight for defense, in only three of them do the Commandos have an edge over the Bucs.

The Bucs and Commandos do share an unfortunate stat. Just like statheads so desire to slap a number on everything, Sumer Sports has a watchability score for each game.

The Commandos at Bucs game is ranked as the fourth-lowest score in watchability for all Week 1 games. Even with the prospect of Washington rookie No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels starting.

    Who are the commandos?

  2. Rod Munch Says:

The game should be more watchable due to the bad weather we’re almost certainly going to have, being a Sept 8th, 4p game. If we can get some lightning to hit the stadium, maybe like 5 inches in rain, we could have a modern version of the 1979 Monsoon Game! That would be some entertaining viewing, could single handedly bring back the blooper films.

Speaking of which, are there any prop bets on a game being weather delayed? I’d like to put down $100 on it if there’s some halfway decent odds.

Are you seriously talking about weather 4.5 months from now affecting a game?
    Wow its late there evidently.
If the Washington tram comes out commando style that would be much more entertaining. And Gross.
    Only way they win though.

    i’m all for a monsoon game…

    bring on the monsoon…

i’m keeping an eye on the weather starting right now 🙂

  5. adam from ny Says:

remember in a monsoon game we all go commando…sometimes less is more

Very safe bet four months, five months, 24 months out that a game played in Tampa on Sept. 8 with a 4:25 p.m. kickoff, there will be rain. Better than 50/50 shot. And the daily late-afternoon summer rains/storms more often than not are downpours.

Joe did you mean the Comanche’s, So the Pirates will take a tomahawk to them in game one. Some freak over the name Redskins. Well when they got plastered in Tampa in SB 18, I started calling them the deadskins lol. Fun game to watch that day, remember well.

The stick carrying Baker boys will get a win in Week 1 against the “comanche deadskins” 🤣

  8. Joe Says:

Joe did you mean the Comanche’s

    Comanches!!! LOL!

To be fair, the Comanches were a tribe not to be effed with. Maybe the most badass group of native Americans that roamed the west. Just read up on what they did to the prisoners they took.

  9. Bojim Says:

    I’ll watch.

  10. SlyPirate Says:

    Get in the Choppa!

    Let off some steam Bennett.

I like you Sally. That’s why I’ll kill you last.

You said you’d kill me last … I lied.

    I smelled them down wind.

I eat green berets for breakfast.

Wanna see me kick some ass.

I could go on and on … LOVE COMMANDO! Greatest movie!

    Wow, this is fun.
    I’m calling a hurricane warning.
Anyone care to guess the name of the storm?

YOU are in such luck – the C this year is for CHRIS – as in CHRIS MEYERS, your favorite announcer!

Although the way the NHC gives everything that swirls up for more than 5 minutes a name, by Sept 8th we’ll probably already by at T, which remarkably for you is TONY, as in your favorite actor, Tony Danza!

Man, that’s amazing, what a time to be alive.

I was surprised with the Commanders game and we don’t know yet how QB Daniels will play. His coach is saying he is looking impressive. But that could be gas-lighting, and yet it could be true. I think the Snyder background still shades the team. The name change isn’t that great either. Reminds me of the Handmaid’s Tale every time I hear it. Maybe they should try another name change? Just saying. In the end, the Bucs should win that game. It is our first game, home, and at 4:25 p.m. Perfect!

I wasn’t even thinking about the weather in September, until now. Thank you for the reminders. I will never forget Hurricane Irma. Started to drive to MD to see family stationed there, got to NC, and then turned around hearing it didn’t hit as bad in the Tampa area. It did hit pretty hard with damage. No power for over a week. Some areas were out of electricity for a month. Hoping Joe is right and it’s only some rain September 8th.

  15. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Their watchability score is really odd because I have the game at number 1 on my list. Guess they’re not really good at stats after all.

  16. BucU Says:

If there was ever a game designed for a 1pm start it’s this game.

  17. Beeej Says:

Riggins HATES the new name, refuses to have anything to do with the team.

A reporter asked him if his old 1983 team could beat the current team.

He said “yeah, but it would be close”

    Reporter asked, “why close”?

Riggins responds “well we’re all in our 70’s now”

  18. Joe Says:

    LOL Riggins.

  19. D-Rok Says:

    ^^ Good stuff, Beeej. LOL!!!

  20. heyjude Says:

Agree with not liking the name. Riggins – “Well we’re all in our 70’s now.” Too funny. Thank you for the laugh, Beeej!

  21. Pickgrin Says:

Not Commandos – or Comanche’s – or Deadskins

    Get it right.

The football team from DC is forevermore to be known as….

    The Foreskins

  22. CocoaBchBuc Says:

    Washington Foreskins

  23. CocoaBchBuc Says:

Good job Pickgrin..I was typing it as you posted..

  24. Dave Pear Says:

I guess now they should be the Washington Circumcisions.

  25. View from 132 Says:

There is no way the marketing people that led the Redskins renamed didn’t prank the NFL by making the Washington DC team the “Commies”
