Rachaad White: Fans Need To Lay Off The Offensive Line

April 6th, 2024

Rachaad White says he has heard fans calling out Robert Hainsey, Cody Mauch and Luke Goedeke.

He wants those fans to chill.

That was a message from White during his recent visit to WDAE radio.

“A lot of [fans] don’t look into [situations],” White said. “A lot of guys don’t look into what I say with our team, they want to bash Robert Hainsey or they just want to bash the O-line, bash my guys. But it’s like, ‘Bro, like he played guard and tackle his whole life and my guy [Ryan] Jensen goes down and you say [to Hainsey], ‘Oh, go to center at the highest level.’ [But] he never played center in his life. You know what I’m saying? Give it time. Just give it time. Give these guys time. “

White went on to note Cody Mauch, last year’s right guard, was in a similar situation to that of Hainsey. Mauch played tackle at a small-school college program and the Bucs made him a right guard.

“Give him time,” White said, referring to how fans should be patient with Mauch.

White added that Luke Goedeke is a great example of why fans should have more patience, and fans should be able to see what happened when Goedeke moved to right tackle successfully after playing left guard as a rookie.

The Bucs should bring in competition at running and interior line this year, White said. He thinks it’s important but inserting fresh talent shouldn’t change how fans should be/could be more patient with young players.

White suggested that fans need to realize that Tristan Wirfs and Mike Evans are once-in-a-generation players and others shouldn’t be compared to their incredible abilities and production.

Sounds like an apology to the OL to me.

  2. MadMax Says:

Mr White, Powers is also generational talent at C. He will be the largest Center ever drafted…and he’s only 21…digest that. Hainsey wont go anywhere, he’ll be your LG/bu C.

I admire him taking up for his guys but we need a solid infusion of talent on the O line if we want to keep Baker from getting clobbered and to open a few running lanes for the RB.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We understand, Rachaad…you want to stand up for your line….but either they suck or you do.

  4. Olboy Says:

Soz what is he talking here? Give hainsey another three years of giving his QB a few lap dances per game and then he’ll be strong enough to overcome the push of the DL? Mauch was a rookie so yeah he gets a pass. Goedeke stepped up his game this year. LG is gonna be determined

How many more years do we see rachad as a three down back??

  5. Olboy Says:

I don’t know. If my mom told me I didn’t look like nothin, I wouldn’t be trying to or asking others to lay off anything.

  6. Simeon4HOF Says:

White needs to focus on improving his running … And lay off all the interviews and talk sho ws. Run game being terrible is both òn him and Oline. Hainsey is at best an avg center ceiling wise .. he should have a chance to be an above avg G, and backup C if need be. Dude talked so much all last off-season and then we rank nearly dead last in league in rushing .. again. All the Bucs need to do is draft a top C and RB2 big back to compliment White to fix the running game. Personally sick of White’s talk and those who have a 70 Jersey and insist on leaving Hainsey at C. He is no Center. Draft a friggin top C, RB2, and a WR 3 or 4.

We don’t need to draft a frigging qb or te. What is it with some people. A Bucs fan wants our Offense to hum … C, RB2, WR away. White says be patient .. ummm Hainsey been starting at C for 2 years, he’s almost to his 2nd contract already. It’s just so clear what the Bucs need to do to fill our holes. C, RB2, WR on Offense .. Edge on Defense. All this tall bout draft a QB, TE, CB. iDL, ILB .. Draft a G low that’ll maybe be good in 3 years .. Draft a CB right away when we have 3 that can start .. 4get the few holes that de.and filling and jump on Bowers nuts. I mean this is so simple. Anyway, I’m just tired of all the talk from White. Go rush for 1000 yards and 10 TD then go on interview tour. Dude can catch and looks good running at times. He should be in Mike Evans backyard or sumthin working out w him. 4get all this talk. The Bucs go into the season with Hainsey at C, no RB2, and no additional WR .. It’s going to be the exact same thing as last 2 years on Offense and no Super Bowl Birth.

Go do some squats and leg presses and grueling workouts .. cut the yap #1

  7. Pickgrin Says:

Hainsey has started 37 NFL games at Center.

How much longer should we wait to NOT see him bulldozed backwards on 20% of all snaps?

  8. Simeon4HOF Says:

Fans are patient with Mauch. He needed the weight room. White basically blaming Fans for not understanding. Nah bruh y’all the ones underperformed on the field, not us. Give it time he says lolol

  9. MadMax Says:

    Im still where I am….

    1st-Trade up for Powers
    2nd-Edge Braswell
    3rd-LB Trotter jr
    4th-RB Estime

but if we trade back and that Dejean is still there and we get another guy at C, im about that too.

  10. MadMax Says:

    Simeon spitting, lol…..agreed.

  11. Simeon4HOF Says:

    @ MadMax lol ikr

I like White as a person and player . Just beyond tired of the excuses from White and making excuses for Hainsey. Just like Goedeke is T and not a G, Hainsey is a G and not a C. Bucs moved Goedeke to his natural position and he’s good. Bit Bucs moved Hainsey out of position.
I think we all love Hainsey he’s a great guy and a valuable piece of our team. I’d love to see hainsey excel as our LG for years to come. And White is not Marshall Faulk who could run and catch, so he need a lil help. Thought it was hillarious he virtually said competition would be welcome but nah we good rn just chill. He oughtta want a stellar Core than anyone to bust o
open the other teams IDL off top on plays to give him more wiggle room inside. I get sticking up for your teammate, but not hallucinating that it’s going to be OK as is

I’d love Bowers if we could still somehow draft a top C in Rd 2 and have another Edge, RB2, and quality WR. But if we trade multiple picks to move up, we will still have holes. And I think Britt is going to be really good and SirVocea Dennis may be LVD’s heir. Just don’t see why we should focus on drafting for future before filling the most pressing holes to complete our team and get us back to Championship level. Strongly feel drafting a ILB and CB would be better for next year.

  12. Simeon4HOF Says:

*He oughtta want a stellar C more than anyone

  13. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Allen or Estime plz

  14. Simeon4HOF Says:

    @MadMax

Mb thought you said Bowers not Powers

I agree and really like your mock draft. Trotter is going to be good, but think WR would be better in Rd 3 versus later in draft. If there is a WR in Rd 4 that JL thinks can contribute right away then that mock draft is near ideal

  15. Beeej Says:

To be fair, Jason Kelce sucked his first few years

  16. Capt Ahab Says:

White will not throw his offensive line under the bus publicly, however behind the scenes, he’s damn sure wanting more holes to run through.

  17. Dave Pear Says:

Hand it to White for being a great teammate. But reading what he said, he knows they suck(ed) too. And BTW, Rachaad, you need some big time help with your vision, you are borderline suck as a runner also. How much time do you want?

  18. Capt.Tim Says:

    Oh, Im sorry Mr.White.
I thought mey be poor Line play caused our 32 ranked Rushing offense.
I mean, I watch the line very closely. Our interior O-Line is the worst Ive ever seen on an NFL team.

But perhaps your right. Meybe I should look to other issues.
That would land the issue right at your feet, Mr White
Meybe “That Joe” is right. Meybe Hainsey/Stennie/Mauch were blowing open holes, that I couldnt see. Mr. White just Chose not to run thru them.

Then I guess we roll with the line, and replace our RB.

Somebody is to blame for that horrific last place rushing attack.
Mr. White, are you SURE you want us to lay off the OLine?

Careful what you wish for! Lol

  19. Stanglassman Says:

He’s just standing up for his guys. Nothing to see here. I can’t wait for the draft.

  20. No Mercy Says:

We can give Robert Hainsey all the time in the world. Just like we did with Donovan smith. But guess what. When you can get a guy like Tristan Wirfs instead it makes a world of difference

  21. MadMax Says:

    Wirfs, Hainsey, Powers, Mauch, Goedekey….

….thats a pretty formidable O line, a little weak on the right side so the TE’s go there, but yeah its workable…..run left side RB!

  22. MadMax Says:

Find a good blocking TE after cuts Mr. Licht

  23. Mika_Sati Says:

Comment section is a bunch of weeping boomers. These kids are barely 25, they made a roster on potential, same as White with way over 1K in scrimmage, the vast majority from outside zone, checks, and swing passes. Canales was an excellent motivator but just because he has a HC job and Leftwich is unemployed doesn’t mean he was a better playcaller. An O-Line is only as good as an OC uses them. Just because it isn’t 1994 doesn’t mean a Line can’t gel over time.

  24. Mika_Sati Says:

Sorry that was for @simeon4hof. You’re a winy sh!t fan. Walk on if you think you could do better, or apply for front office positions if you think you could draft better. Otherwise f$&k off and talk about something real in the off season like whether or not Gholston is eventually getting resigned.

  25. go dawgs Says:

Breaking News….. Rachaad White will be doing a podcast with ex Nfl player and Bucs Kicker, Donald Igwebuike. Rachaad stated that his goal was to expand his already massive, and I mean massive!!, podcast presence…

I am already drooling to hear the first episode to hear all of the nuggets and football knowledge he has to dish out as well as cooking and travel ideas per the media release.

  26. Bucs Guy Says:

Love your picks MadMax. Just not sure Braswell will be there in the 2nd or Estime in the 4th. If the Bucs were drafting mid’round maybe, but not late.

If the Bucs were to trade back to the early 2nd, I believe I would want to swap 3rd and 4th rd picks as part of the deal. That could help the Bucs get who they want.

  27. 76 bucsfan46 Says:

Sorry Rashad but our interior OLine was pathetic. It affects not only our run game but also Baker who if you haven’t noticed isn’t the tallest guy and gets slot of balls batted down and had to run for his life because the interior line collapsed. Stay in your lane and hit the hole hard this season, even your RB coach says you run soft.

  28. BelleGladeBuc Says:

Hainsey is a bad center as he’s the 32nd rated center by PFF, with an F grade by PFF and he’s tied for 8th in giving up the most sacks and tied for second in getting the most penalties in 2023.

Hainsey was even worse in the playoffs a bad, as he’s the lowest rated center by PFF of all playoff centers, with an even lower F grade than the regular season by PFF and he’s tied for 1st in giving up the most sacks in the 2023 playoffs.

Please tell me Rachaad why you think think that a two year starter who makes millions to perform his job in Hainsey who lets a MLB blitz free up the A-Gap and pressure and hit Baker and force him into a bad throw in less than 2 seconds that resulted in a game ending interception on our final offensive play in our playoff game deserves more time?

Move Hainsey to guard where he excelled at Norte Dame as starter and team captain.

The Bucs have been missing a pulling guard since Marpet retired and Hainsey excelled at pulling in Norte Dame’s power run scheme.

Draft JPJ or Frazier or Van Pran at Center and move Hainsey to his natural position as a guard.

Those two moves will cause the Bucs offense to become much more explosive as they will now have a line that can mash people in the run game which makes your passing game more explosive.

If defensive lineman know that they have to stay gap sound against the run, then they aren’t pinning their ears back and rushing to meet at the quarterback.

    It’s football 101.

  29. lambchop Says:

    @MadMax,

Trading up for a C? We’re not loaded across the board to trade up and give away draft stock for a C of all positions. Weird take.

  30. CleanHouse Says:

When you and your O-line do better than last place in the entire league you can tell us all to lay off. in truth, if this continues, you should all be laid off.

Sick of the snake oil sales nonsense that last place is somehow good.

we really learned so much as a franchise from TB12- what a joke.

  31. Darin Says:

Play better talk less. Cmon white watch so Ronald Jones tape and run better

  32. BucsFan Says:

Mr. White better pray Bucs do not resign ROJO and White becomes a 3rd down only back.

  33. CallTheSaltTruck Says:

I’m fine with giving Mauch time. He was a rookie. I do want to see some improvement in year two. I want a center specifically to move Hainsey back to being a guard, where he played better, and is more of his natural position, much like Goedeke was moved back to RT.

We understand, Rachaad…you want to stand up for your line….but either they suck or you do.

Post of the day! Could not have been said better!!

  35. SenileSenior Says:

Traditionally it takes three years to develop an offensive lineman. Has this changed and no longer is the case on average?

  36. SenileSenior Says:

So now I am a weeping boomer. I am very happy with the direction our team is taking.

    Go Bucs!!

  37. Buc1987 Says:

Mika_Sati…Joe writes the articles and we reply.

    Don’t blame the commenters.

  38. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Mika Sati Winy

Ya gotta problem ya social media warrior? Ya mad bruh? Dude the type that tongue wrestles on screen but a b××××× in real life.

What’s wrong .. ya unhappy, ya small, ya need a date???
That was uncalled for. I’m not going to even go in further on you rn … and I’m gonna go bcuz I’m a lil scared bcuz your name is so masculine. Go f×××× yourself

  39. mfgsignal Says:

These comments though… Like it’s a bad thing to be a good teammate.

  40. Simeon4HOF Says:

Sorry Joe.. weirdo caught me off guard. Will keep it positive

  41. HC Grover Says:

We need a better RB than him.

  42. Shane Callahan Says:

Cool teammate who certainly could’ve made them look better as run blockers, but they are going to get Baker killed.

  43. Buccos Says:

I would take Powers in the 1st round. If we move Hainsey to guard and Mauch gets stronger alongside Powers in the middle we will have a very young and formidable offensive line for years to come. Then draft a running back and and edge and a LB and we are good to go

  44. ThatAintRight! Says:

    Lay off the Oline?
How about you run for 1,100 yards or more then you can talk to your fan’s guy!
If they are so great why don’t you have 1100+ rush yards yet?

Why does the QB still get sacked and why do they get all these penalties? Tristian wirfs wasn’t that bad as a rookie. Plus like you guys acting like people can’t tell when an Olineman gets picked on. 🤦‍♂️ there is legit a system we all use to judge Olineman by their play. Sorry not sorry. Their play sucks oh well time to move on it is what it is.
