I would love to see Licht trade back for multiple, early, 2nd and 3rd rounders. 5-6 picks in the first 100 could really set this team up nice. IOL; JPJ, Frazier, Beebe, Mahogany, Mason McCormick. DL; T’Vondre, Maason Smith, K. Boyd, B. Fiske. Any combo of these guys would solidify both sides of the line. Also, being able to rush and cover, I think edge/OLB Jalyx Hunt would be a perfect fit for this team as a late 3rd or 4th rounder.

If you really look, there is actually a ton of talent in this draft. 3rd 4th 5th rounds are going to be gold mines for teams that really studied up on these guys.

I don’t know anything about the cornerbacks. It’s pretty wild that not a single DB has been taken.
Also, I am all about Powers Johnson from Oregon at center but why is the center from Duke rated higher? The last time he played center was four years ago. He’s been tackle.
Either way they need to upgrade the interior line since there’s not an edge worth taking and really good center will make the guards better as well

I watched the JPJ at center for Oregon several times. He is a monster in the run and pass. He is powerful and can move. He can pull. He calls the line and Oregon was one of the best lines in college football last year.
Looks like a pro bowler to me and Hainsey can go fight for guard spot.
If not him, I could see Turner CB from Alabama. Other than that, just have to trust in LICHT.

Mel Kiper just said that center success rate for 1st round picks is the highest of any position in the NFL.
11 of last 12 centers selected in the 1st round have gone on to get 2nd contracts with their teams.

He played left tackle last year. He played guard sometimes over the last couple years.
He hasn’t played center since he was a freshman.
He’s a smart dude at Duke and everyone says he’s going to be a center. I prefer Johnson out of Oregon but LICHT and the gang know a lot more than I do so I am just glad they got a center, that immediately improve the guards.

I don’t bother mentioning certain players because I know they won’t be available when it’s our turn to pick. That’s why I originally focused on JPJ, but after hearing the latest draft news, I stopped considering him too. You know me, man—I only talk about top prospects if we’re actually drafting in that range. We got a steal!!

I love the pick. I thought it woul be JPJ, but Barton is the #1 ranked center in the draft. Cannot believe he fell to us.
Now…it would be ironic if Licht traded back into the first and took JPJ.
Barton is more experienced at left tackle.

Licht doesn’t spend first rounders on guards. He spends middle round picks on them.

Given the best edge guys were gone and Barton is smart and versatile, Bucs should be fine. It’s not splashy or sexy but a good Center can lead an OLine and a smart one can help the qb in assignments. Our biggest issue on offense was Oline and white not seeing the holes. Hope the changes move us forward.

JPJ has injury issues from what I’ve heard and read.
Maybe that’s why the pick was Barton?

Another blown 1st rounder. Yup, I said it. I said it about JTS, and I said it about Hall, and I was right about both of them. I also didn’t like that TE picked in the 1st a couple of years ago. I loved the VV pick, and look how that turned out. JPJ should have been the pick, or trade back and target Frazier and a LG. That being said, I truly hope I’m dead wrong this time, and he has a stellar career with the Bucs.
