Bucs Are Drinking The Kool-Aid

April 3rd, 2024

Official visit.

Earlier this week Joe brought word from long-time NFL Network and CBS voice Charles Davis believed Alabama corner Kool-Aid McKinstry is a Todd Bowles kind of player.

And lo and behold, Davis was onto something. Per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Bucs indeed will be hosting McKinstry as one of the Bucs’ 30 official visits.

Look, the Bucs unloaded their best cornerback last month trading Carlton Davis to Detroit. And sorry, Joe isn’t sold on the Bucs’ depth at corner or on Zyon McCollum being able to fill Davis’ shoes. So it makes all the sense in the world the Bucs may draft a corner at No. 26.

So will that be a corner at No. 26? Will it be Kool-Aid? In the immortal words of famed philosopher Moe Howard, we shall see.

I don’t want to hijack but Joe the Bucs signed Edge rusher Randy Gregory!!

  2. Buc4evr Says:

Yeah, Randy Gregory, now we have a clone of JTS. Must have been cheap, like veteran minimum? Another 3rd string rotational player.

  3. Tbbucs3 Says:

Build the trenches…wouldn’t take a corner round 1…the pressure will be taken off the secondary if the Bucs can find a legit pass rusher.

Gregory is probably just a serviceable role player at this point in his career.

  4. elite bucs Says:

I dont wanna p!ss in anyones lemonade but Randy Gregory is pretty washed. Sadly, and i hope im wrong, he is just a recognizable name at this point. Wont break 4 sacks. probably 2 or less.

  5. Dave Pear Says:

He looks good on paper. If Jason likes him and he can decode the encrypted ancient Aramaic defensive schemes of Todd Bowels, then I’m fine with him.

  6. A Bucs Fan Says:

I’m not excited but hey they are addressing EDGE before the draft which can mean everything from their draft plans, potential trades, and if nothing else they’ve moved on from Cam Gil.

  7. Matt_PcAfee Says:

    Watch Randy beat out JTS

  8. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Recent Bucs 1st round picks from Bama….Mark Barron-bust, OJ Howard-bust. Not drinking the “Kool Aid”. As for Randy Gregory, I guess it can’t hurt.

  9. Bucs Guy Says:

Wasted pick of a backup CB in the first round. Need to go Edge or C in the first round. If the top 3 Edge and 2 Centers are off the board, the Bucs should trade back. If they can’t work a trade, pick a WR.

  10. Scott Says:

Not a huge fan of CB in the first round but if he’s a solid player why not. He doesn’t have elite speed from what I read

  11. JimBobBuc Says:

Maybe draft Kool Aid and trade Dean for a proven edge

  12. Destinjohnny Says:

Being a tide homer I can say he is solid.
He never hit the next level gear that he has.
I don’t know enough inside info on what his heart and desire to be great run the 40 in.

  13. Boss Says:

    wtf??

smokescreen. better be, if they go db round one I will lose my $hit!

  14. gofortheface30 Says:

Aint calling no man Kool Aid, his mom can f off for such silliness.

  15. Woodenman Says:

You have already lost it Boss!

  16. Conner50 Says:

Tj Tampa and not because of his last name would be better getting in the second. Dude isn’t afraid of contact and is all over the ball

  17. Rod Munch Says:

    See, Taco Charlton.

  18. Rod Munch Says:

The stupid name rule is in effect.

  19. Simeon4HOF Says:

They didn’t let Davis go to draft a CB in Rd1. Lots of visits

  20. Capt.Tim Says:

First, our luck with drafting Alabama players has been horrible.
McCants, Seferain -Jenkins, and that safety turned LBER who Ive thankfully forgotten.

Secondly- If we can find a CB who can maintain coverage, with no Pass rush; Lets draft Him!!
Otherwise, we have bigger needs in the draft.

  21. Chris Adams Says:

It’s pretty simple. You only draft QB, WR, CB, OT and Edge in the first round. We don”t need a QB or OT. Therefore we take the BPA who is either a WR, CB or Edge. With luck, whoever it is should contribute this year and beyond.

  22. MelvinJunior Says:

T.J. Tampa with our 2nd if he’s still available. The signing of Gregory allows them to go EDGE in the 3rd (such a weak draft for DE you’re not getting a ‘starting’ EDGE regardless), and either TE or another OL with the other 3rd. Then RB in the 4th & call-it a day. Yes, I said “another” OL since that’ll be their 1st Round selection… Might need to ‘trade-up’ a tad in ALL Rounds as an option in order to get (their guy) who they WANT. I’m all for it! Quality over Quantity. All day long.

  23. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t drink the kool-aid Bucs. All I want? IS A PASS RUSH THAT OPPONENTS FEAR

  24. Pickgrin Says:

    NO to Kool Aid.

    I ain’t drinking NONE of it….

Yes to Wiggins from Clemson at #26 if Turner, Verse, Latu, JPJ and Barton are all off the board.

  25. ncbucsfan Says:

I specifically remembering watching the 49ers vs. Lions and Gregory opening my eyes…..he can still move. I like this signing!!

  26. Joe Says:

Aint calling no man Kool Aid, his mom can f off for such silliness.

    ROTFLMAO!

  27. Dave Pear Says:

Kool Aid can’t be his real name. Naaah. No way.

    Can it?

  28. Obvious Says:

Personally I’m just not interested in another corner. Boring. Maybe, I’d be more enthused if we actually went after an actual edge rusher since we also just got rid of or BEST run defender in Shaq.

What ALL of this signals to me is that we shouldn’t expect to be in any serious contention for the Super Bowl. Just be realistic here. We have dumped and NOT replaced with a minimum of equal production. We have truly gotten weaker.

Jason Licht is making it clear via Non Action of ANY TRUE SUBSTANCE other than whitehead. That’s it folks everything else is looking more and much more clearly like we’ve down graded. We Have..

No rookie is going to make a super bowl run at it difference. And everybody knows it in their gut. Well, I suppose we might back into the playoffs again. Maybe even win it legitimately??? MAYBE…

This so far has me pretty discouraged. It’s a COME ON MAN moment from me to Jason Licht. I mean, we just spent a TON of money to make a run at something but we’re actually weaker… As Licht is running around telling everyone who will listen that we are stronger??? Depressing. After this signing.. We are NOT serious this year.
Having a hard time turning this frown upside down.

  29. Joe in Michigan Says:

Two interceptions in 3 years? The Bucs should want better than the average Carlton Davis/Jamel Dean 1 interception a season, especially if you’re talking a first round pick.

  30. Buccaneer Chris Says:

Kool-Aid ..omg idiocracy is becoming a reality every day

  31. MadMax Says:

I can get over the name if he can ball….i mean it couldve been worse. But not in the 1st rd please. And trust me, if he turns into a shut down CB1, yall will be saying “Im liking this KoolAid”…. lol, get your mind right.

I need to go watch some vids on him.

  32. MadMax Says:

Pretty decent….recovering from a Jones fracture and still ran a fast 40. He mirrors his guys well and seems to be good at guessing and jumping ahead of them in their next move, thats high IQ and great eyes. Im not gonna lie, I like him. Just not 1st pick. We need JPJ.

  33. MadMax Says:

His name is Ja’Quincey and his Grandmother gave him the nickname because he was always smiling as a baby.

  34. No Mercy Says:

If we don’t upgrade the pass rush we must upgrade the secondary. Can’t ignore both unless the Bucs wanna repeat of that Texans vs Bucs game all season

  35. Dave Pear Says:

Thank you MadMax. Now it can be fun instead of tragic.

  36. Jglazer Says:

I don’t think the Bugs are selling cool aid. I think you in the immediate bus media circle are sleeping with the kool aid. How many teams did the bugs beat last year with a winning record?
