“They Speak Out A Lot About That”

March 25th, 2024

Mike Evans speaks up.

A couple of Bucs put their pain and angst to good use.

Lavonte David knows the agony of eight losing seasons on his NFL résumé. Mike Evans has logged six. Life has been good lately, but the elder statesmen Bucs are determined to let their teammates know they better appreciate what they have now and the difficulties that come with losing.

Rachaad White said David and Evans play that card often with young teammates. “They speak out a lot about that,” he said.

Joe wonders if that’s a newer thing for Evans and David. As in maybe that kind of chatter didn’t fly during the Tom Brady years? Or perhaps it perked up when the Bucs went from 3-1 to 4-7 last season?

Regardless, it’s an important message for rookies and young players to hear. And it’s a good memory for fans. As Joe patrols the NFL Owners Meeting today in Orlando, Joe sees representatives and media from clubs enduring what Bucs fans and officials had to stomach for far too long. #TheLostDecade

Three consecutive NFC South titles isn’t the ultimate goal, but it sure beats the alternative.

joe – that is why you have to continue to innovate. i understand the notion of dont fix until broken but the NFL teams, players, schemes evolve each year. banking on returning to the same place or because youve seen players do it before means jack squat. look at the NY giants last year. they were a darling to return to the post season after winning a playoff game the year before. trust the process.

bowles and licht very well know you need an edge rusher so trust the team knows what it is doing. they know more than both of us combined ever will. you cannot deny that.

How could it have happened during they brady years?

All they did was suck before that!

I HOPE they can sniff #2 in the nfc south this year. Fingers crossed.

@boss – So who is this team you think is going to be better than our Bucs this year ? The AINTS ? Or are you riding the media hype about the Falcons ? Last time I checked, the Bucs went into Minnesota, a far superior team than the Falcons this year, and spanked Kirk and their high powered offense to start the season last year. I think your an AINTS fan that is obviously obsessed with our Bucs taking over the south the last 4 years. The wasted Drew Brees glory years have been over for some time now. All those years being regular season champs just to get booted in the first round of the playoffs is a hard thing to swallow for you I’m sure, but swallow it you must. You will now be the bottom feeders of the NFC South, if not the NFL . Go Bucs

Leave Boss alone…he can’t help it. They used to call them retarded….now we just call them “slow”…

But do it in the light of day
    Bucs games work ok

Boss is not wrong. The Bucs have made the playoffs due to a downtrodden division in which they play. They don’t sniff the playoffs in any other division in the NFL. The Bucs are a good, average team. This season in front of the Bucs looks like a rough road with a more difficult schedule outside of the weak division in which they play. We shall see if they are up to the challenge.

  15. Capt Ahab Says:

Levonte David is no loser, he has a Super Bowl ring.

Knowing what we know now what it takes to the win the Super Bowl, realistically we might never get back there for years, if ever. Think about how everything lined up for Tampa, from Arian’s coming out of retirement in 2019, Bowles getting fired by the Jets so that he was available to be his Def coordinator. We land Brady, he recruits 2-future hall of famers in Gronk and AB, he also lands up former first round pick Fournette as well. Our def was a mix of future hall of famers that were aging vets way past their prime, but still had 1-2 years of solid football left in them. We were still within our window of solid draft picks from 2018 and 2019, then in 2020 we get Wirfs and Winfield, plus the benefits of COVID. Just a perfect storm of circumstances.

I know it sounds gloomy, but I’m good settling with NFC South titles, making the playoffs vs the mentality it’s Super Bowl bust. If that is you as fan, you’re going to be miserable all the damn time. I remember #TheLostDecade, and it sucks not making the playoffs, and lobbying for bad records in some prayer that your early round pick ends up being “the savor”… Once we’re in playoffs, anything can happen, we saw it this season, a path to the Super Bowl, yet I’m sorry, but even if we beat the Lions, we were not beating the 49ers at home, or ever, because the reality is we’re just not built well enough to beat the best.

With everyone wanting to get paid, GMs have to crush the draft every season, and then the ticker starts, because if they’re any good, it will be tough to keep them all. Ask Joe Burrow how tight that win-now window is. He had Mixon, he’s gone. He had one of the best WR cores in the NFL, and right now he’s down to Chase. It’s tough keeping Super Bowl caliber rosters together.
