The Vikings And Baker Mayfield

March 3rd, 2024

At Joe’s core, Joe has no belief, expectation or thought that Baker Mayfield will play for a team other than the Buccaneers during the 2024 season.

If the Bucs don’t re-sign Mayfield — and they have about 50 more hours with which to use the franchise tag to secure him — then Team Glazer and general manager Jason Licht are frauds when it comes to winning this year.

Joe doesn’t believe that to be the case. In fact, Joe thinks Licht and Team Glazer are extraordinarily committed to winning now.

And winning starts with a quarterback … not a safety. They know it. Fans know it. The whole world knows it.  (No, Joe isn’t knocking pending free agent Antoine Winfield, Jr.)

Re-signing Mayfield is the no-brainer of no-brainers and Bucs fans should sleep well tonight because of it.

However, Joe can’t ignore a report from ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler today. Vikings fans are rumbling in a big way.

The report stated that if the Vikings don’t bring back aging franchise quarterback and four-time Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins, who is coming off a major injury, then look for Minnesota to jump in the pool for Mayfield.

That makes sense. The Vikings have a quality roster and a young all-World wide receiver. Plus, Minnesota saw Mayfield put on a hell of a performance on opening day, beating them the Vikings on their home turf.

(Keep in mind the Vikings signed quarterback Josh Freeman to be their starter days after he left the Bucs in 2013 … after Freeman lit up the Vikings during a midseason Thursday night game. Sometimes teams get smitten when they’re on the wrong end of a beating.)

Again, Joe thinks any talk of Mayfield moving on is bordering on joke status, but Fowler is a prominent name and Joe has no doubt the Vikings look favorably on Mayfield. What QB-needy team wouldn’t?

Baker buying snow tires in Minneapolis – not happening.

  2. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

“Hell of a performance “. Let’s not get carried away. Baker started that game VERY slow. Did not start playing well until right before the half. Played very well after that. But hoap? No.

  3. Ricki Says:

I hope they sign him but is not like they are missing out on prime Tom Brady.

  4. John Says:

could we swoop in on cousins instead of mayfield and would that be who evans was really talking about when he said he wants to play with an elite qb?

  5. Bucanero Says:

Sign Baker, tag Winfield, Let M1k3 go if he so wishes but hopefully he stays.

  6. Hawk Says:

If some team throws stupid money at Mayfield, the Bucs are too smart to raise the ante. I am sure they have already discussed (at nauseum) a plan ‘B’.

  7. Cobraboy Says:

@John: Cousins is coming off an Achilles. Do you want that risk?

  8. BillyBucco Says:

It would surely make more sense than Mayfield. I don’t think Mike was even looking in Mayfields direction when he said this. There are ALWAYS trade candidates too. Would the Chargers part with Herbert? How about Dak Prescott in Dallas? Im not saying either is a possibility, but you never know. There aren’t that many ELITE QBs in the entire NFL actually. But sometimes one just needs a change of scenery and it helps BOTH teams. See Rams and Detroit.

  9. Boss Says:

aint NO ONE else throwing a big money, long term deal at bake!

when a job hopper who has failed miseranly has one good year the only one who will fibe the best deal is the one that knows him the best. thats the bucs. I suspect they keep bake……but for these 30 and 40 mill numbers thery should let him walk…AND mike

  10. heyjude Says:

Now the Vikings. I was worrying about the Patriots or Falcons taking Baker. Now the Vikings are on my worry list. There is no way they will hold onto Cousins. He is a good guy but I don’t think he will be there.

  11. Ricki Says:

Sign AW asap, whats this no sense.

    Mike didn’t say squat

  13. Lt. Dan Says:

“then Team Glazer and general manager Jason Licht are frauds when it comes to winning this year.”

D@mn Joe…that statement is bringing it strong!

  14. T. McGee Says:

Frauds? There are other QBs, Joe.

  15. BigBoiBuc Says:

    Sign Baker
    Tag Winfield
Hopefully resign ME, but if he walks , draft WR
    Sign the Kicker

  16. Capt.Tim Says:

Amazing how dumb some of these guys are!
Mike isnt coming backhere, unless we sign Mayfield. He ade that perfectly clear.
    He wins with Mayfield.
For the best 7 years of his careers, Mike was making a losing effort.
Along with Lavonte David- they played great. And were losers.
Brady comes to town- winners for both years.
    Now Mayfield.

Evans isnt going to give that up. We sign Mayfield- or he leaves.
    Its easy.

  17. Towered Says:

There was no hope of winning with Mayfield.

    Modest sucess

There is no hope of winning without Mayfield.

    Nonsense

  18. Let em bake Says:

How does sportrac theorize Tua getting 220 mil extension, but baker only 120? The disrespect and cluelessness is shocking. In what world is brittle tua worth 100 more? I still believe bakers deal will will flirt with 200 mil..

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

NEwSFLASH!!! The following teams are interested in Mike Evans…

    Bucs, Saints, Falcons, Panthers
    Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Bills
    Giants, Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders
    Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos, Rauders
    Rams, Seahawks, 49fs, Cardinals
    Colts, Jags, Titans, Texans
    Steelers, Browns, Ravens, Bengals
    Packers, Lions, Vikings, Bears

And, perhaps you can throw in some CFL teams

Amazing how dumb some of these guys are!
Mike isnt coming backhere, unless we sign Mayfield. He nade that perfectly clear.

Cap you do not understand the power of the dark side. The haters are fully willing to lose ME for the sake of their burning hatred toward Baker (mostly at him proving them wrong last season) .

and then when that ends in disaster they will turn their hate to Bowles and blame him Trask didn’t win them the SB.

  21. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I love Evans as much as everybody else, but how much money do you want to tie up in a 30 year old receiver? This whole idea of 25M per year could certainly be better spent elsewhere.

  22. Bucsfan81 Says:

They way over hyping Baker. It would be a Bucs thing to do to tag Baker and let Winfield walk and watch Baker will suck it up in a year or two.

  23. Chief Tbird Says:

Let Mayfield walk and a 5 win season is the ceiling next year. We would lose Mike also, and possibly lose both of them to ATL. That would be a kick in the nuts.

Several teams are making it known they want Baker with long term deals for you doubters out there. They are doing that to let Baker know if the Bucs try and low ball him he has a big market waiting.

Pro bowl/playoff winning QB’s don’t grow on trees. You guys that trash Baker obviously think the grass is greener with a rookie. Well only about 1/10 rookies make it to the level Baker is at now. You could spend 20 years trying to get a “better” Baker and fail. You can see it all around the league.

Pay Baker. Pay Mike. Pay AWJ. The rising cap gives us space. The championship window is open if we sign them. It may be closed for decades if we don’t.

  24. Massed out Says:

Its understandable that Mike and bake want to get paid, but to put everything in that package, while neglecting everything else may not be so wise. It ain’t like we barely missed the Superbowl with them. We need help man. Does 9 wins make you feel comfortable? Especially when we don’t even have the same OC?

  25. ATLBUC Says:

How could Evans possibly consider Baker an elite quarterback? I’ve seen him countless times walking back to the bench frustrated because of a bad Baker Throw. Obviously he is not coming back unless Baker is gone!!

  26. Hearty Dikerson Says:

Management are now frauds if they don’t re-sign Baker? I get you have an opinion, but this whole agenda of pushing Baker is bordering on propaganda.

Maybe, just maybe, the front office doesn’t believe a journeyman QB that led a middling offense, averaged 230 yards a game, and barely eeked out a .500 win percentage is with $40M a year?

It’s just baffling how this perspective on Baker has transformed from “slightly below average QB with several glaring weaknesses” to a “must-sign, all hope is lost otherwise” type player.

  27. HC Grover Says:

I don’t care if they do or not.

LOLthese haters really do live in their own little world.

  29. Marine Buc Says:

I’m so tired of people suggesting that the Bucs use the franchise tag on Mayfield.

That is the dumbest thing the Bucs could do.

Use all the available cap space on one mediocre QB.

    Dumb.

  30. Marine Buc Says:

    @ ATL

“Obviously he is not coming back unless Baker is gone!!”

Well – Mike Evans’ agent just stated that he wants to play with an “elite” QB. So based off that statement – I agree with you.

    Elite QB > Baker Mayfield.

  31. Lt. Dan Says:

Ok Marine – we’ve gone back and forth a few times in a good natured way so… What’s the answer at QB considering all of the other needs the Bucs have. So Baker is currently on the roster. Lets say the Bucs let him walk…solution is?

  32. Buc1987 Says:

Chief Tbird Says: “Several teams are making it known they want Baker with long term deals for you doubters out there”

Where do you get this from?

Or are you making shyte up?

  33. Towered Says:

Can someone point out where Evans has publicly lashed himself to Mayfield and won’t return without him? It appears to be a straw man that a lot of claims are being built on.

  34. Buc1987 Says:

Chief Tbird Says: “Several teams are making it known they want Baker with long term deals for you doubters out there.”

    Nonsense!

  35. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Lt. Dan

    Option #1 –

Sign Baker to a reasonable 3 year deal with an optional 4th year. As long as the Bucs can bail after year two with minimal cap damage.

I have been saying the same thing for months now…

    3 years for @ $90M (maybe a few incentives added) with $45M guaranteed and a 4th year option at $40M (non-guaranteed).

    Option #2 –

Other than Baker I would consider Wilson or Cousins – as long as the price was right.

    Option #3 –

We find another QB off of the scrap heap like were we found Mayfield and hope for the best – Tannehill, Mac Jones, Flaco and sign them to a very cheap one year deal with incentives.

    Option #4 –

We draft a QB at pick #26 like Bo Nix, M. Penix or JJ McCarthy and let them compete with K. Trask for the starting job.

I would prefer “Option #1” but that doesn’t mean I think Mayfield is “elite” he obviously is not. However – he is probably the best we can do given the circumstances.

  36. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Well stated Marine Buc. If Baker and Evans want to put the team over a barrel, there are other options. Baker is not a 40M guy. Some dopey team may pay that, but I don’t want it to be the Bucs.
In terms of Option #4, you don’t want Nix in that mix! He is not the guy.

  37. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Bo Nix. You’re a comedian.

  38. Marine Buc Says:

Guys – I only mentioned Bo Nix because he will be one of the only QBs available at pick #26.

I don’t know if he will be a solid NFL QB or not. He gets an awful lot of hate for a guy that did nothing but win ball games (except Washington) at a major Div. I level.

  39. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Marine, Bo was a bum at Auburn. He ran a little pop gun offense at Oregon. Penix is 100 times the QB Nix is, but Penix is brittle as china.

  40. Dom Says:

    @Marine Buc

All reasonable and possible options. I’d add trading for Sam Howell in option 3. Would be a player on a cheap rookie deal

  41. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Alvin

I understand – Nix will only fit into that type of system but he runs it very well and there are a bunch of teams now running that same type of system.

I split time between Florida and Oregon and I can tell you with confidence most Oregon fans liked Bo Nix over Justin Herbert…

I agree on Penix – Buyer beware! Four seasons at Indiana – 2 knee surgeries and 2 shoulder surgeries. Not good. But the kid has amazing accuracy on his deep ball throws – he is the anti-Baker Mayfield. lol.

  42. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Dom

I don’t know much about Howell. He has had some ups and downs but I don’t watch very many Redskin games because they stink and I can’t stand them…

But you could add him to the mix as well as long as it would only take a late round pick. We need all of our draft picks this season.

  43. Rod Munch Says:

“If the Bucs don’t re-sign Mayfield — and they have about 50 more hours with which to use the franchise tag to secure him — then Team Glazer and general manager Jason Licht are frauds when it comes to winning this year.”

Maybe they’re looking for a QB that doesn’t choke under pressure.

  44. Daniel Hammond Says:

So tired of hearing about Baker Mayfield I can’t wait until he signed by another team that way I don’t have to hear about him anymore

  45. Bucsmarley Says:

Mayfield more important than Winfield 😂😂
Joe is such a fanboy it hurts sometimes. Anyone who would suggest mayfield is more important than Winfield is just plain wrong

  46. Mike S Says:

    *laughs in Kyle trask*

  47. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Alvin

I answered you but for some reason my comment was put in JBF jail.

Come Joe – your AI is a POS…

  48. Since76 Says:

Joe thought the same about Winston. He is even more wrong with Mayfield. I knew Winston was bad but at least he was entertaining every game. Mayfield leaves you wondering what the hell he’s doing in half his starts. Yeah let’s throw a 40 burger at Mr inconsistent.

  49. NCBuc Says:

Just a quick question. How many games can an ELITE QB have with a completion percentage of 60 or less and still be considered ELITE?

  50. Beeej Says:

I’m thinking if Baker signs for <$30 million/year, his biggest goal is to help the team/ME13

  51. Capt.Tim Says:

    Tony Marks.
It really is an insanity. Ive seen this here once before.
There was a bunch of insane posters, who believed a kid named Mike Glennon was Bob Griese! They lived and breathed Glennon.
And he was terrible! Better than Trask- He had a decent Arm, but he was bad. Totally immobile. Slug speed with no Pocket awareness. Any pressure and he panicked. Pretty sure Rod Munch was a Glennonite, along with others.
After listening to their nonsense for a year or two, Glennon left. He went to Chicago. I think he started a game or two before they exiled him to the bench.
I think he was selling insurance a year or two after we jettisoned him.

Trask has a year left on his rookie contract. He wont sign another. He will become the 27Th Qb drafted by the Bucs, who wont sign a second contract.

We are stuck with these lunatics until then. They are so annoying.they hijack every post.
Thank you,and a few others, for your post. Its like finally talking to the Doctor, after wading thru the inmates at an insane asylum!

  55. BakerBucs Says:

If baker chokes under pressure he did an outstanding job disguising that his past season when he choking leading the last 2 minutes against Texas or was that the defense I saw no choking just running for his life wonder why I’m sure u say cause he is 6’1″

  56. Critmark Says:

How about a variation on a theme when it comes to who ME will and will not play with. People say he will only stay if Baker stays and others say he will only stay if Baker is gone. Obviously both can’t be right.

I think he wants to be paid and wants a QB he trusts. Pretty obvious, I know. I think he trusts Baker, and would not walk if the Bucs resign him. The only way he gives the Bucs a hometown discount (read small discount) is if it’s Baker or a QB he absolutely trusts.

No disrespect to Trask but I think he is still too much of an unknown for ME to sign on with. If that is the Bucs ultimate decision, I think ME will be gone as quickly as he can pack his bags.

So who might ME trust if Baker goes elsewhere? Personally, I don’t think Fields or Wilson will do it for him. The former because he has never really been a top passer, and the latter because it has been several years since he has been one. Given where the Bucs are drafting, I think it unlikely that a rookie at 26th in the draft will inspire him. To me, the only guy out there that I think he would like that could come in from the outside and keep ME in Tampa would be Cousins, but that will cost the Bucs more than Baker.

Just my 2 cents, but with the new salary cap, my 2,000,000 cents.

  57. Rod Munch Says:

“And winning starts with a quarterback … not a safety. They know it. Fans know it. The whole world knows it. (No, Joe isn’t knocking pending free agent Antoine Winfield, Jr.)”

Let’s see… one is a future HOF player. The other is, in his best year ever, a middling QB who can be easily replaced by Gardner Minshew.

    Minshew QBR, 59.6
Baker, in a career year, 54.3

Remember, QBR doesn’t let you artificially inflate your stats by dumping off the ball to your RB for 2 yards on 3rd and 8. Minshew also had the better winning percentage.

    ===========

Two games left in season, Bucs must win one to get into the playoffs – and Baker chokes, literally plays his two worst games of the year in a must win situation. Then, in the playoffs, game on the line, a chance to become a legend – in front of the biggest audience that has ever seen him play – the situation everyone who has ever played QB prays for — and promptly throws an INT two plays later. That is what I call a choke artist.

  59. Buc king Says:

I think we can win just as much with or with out Mayfield.

Evans on the other hand if we lose him..that shows we gave up on winning and our legacy players

  60. Buc king Says:

I completely agree with Ron’s assessment.. I would not pay baker hes a by product of pre bady offense and amazing wide receiver room.
    I didn’t see magic in his ability…
His ability to climb the pockets and run I like but you can get that out ofvany xollehe kid coming into the pros.
Draft a kid and play trask..if Trask stinks it up..play the rookie..
17 games to find your next qb..
I also like kirk cousins and russel wilson

  61. NCBuc Says:

I disagree with you Rod…. On his worst games that is. Funny as it is, our win streak after that that horrible run mid season was against Carolina and Atlanta. The games where he threw for 48.3% in both games. But we are supposed to believe he carried our team. Just a bit confused on how this ELITE QB carried our team when more times the team bailed him out. But he’s ELITE, right?

  62. D Cone Says:

Winning 20-17 against the Vikings was far from a drumming. 21 of 34 passing for 173 yards was not impressive. Defense forced two fumbles and one interception and was the reason for the win.

Then again Joes tends to stretch things like the ‘One Time Out’. You would think the Bucs had a 1st and goal at the 1 and didn’t use the time out and the clock ran out as much as that crazy talk was thrown out there.

Your take on Qbs ( and most things NFL) is mud around here kid.

You advocated for Glennon and Jaemis as well (cue the laugh track)

Total nitwit on Qbs. Your second name should be David.

  64. Twan Says:

People saying get Fields or Cousins neither 1 of them would Win a playoff game in Tampa let alone get Tampa 2 the Playoffs bcuz if Baker leave Mike Leaves n ITS A REASON THEY TRADING N GAVE UP ON FIELDS A TOP PICK ITS NOT BY ACCIDENT…..
IF BAKER LEAVES TAMPA WILL BE SET BACK N BECOME A LOSING TEAM FOR ABOUT 4 TO 5 YEARS BCUZ IF BAKER N MIKE LEAVE THEN ITS OVER WITH THEY MIGHT AS WELL TRADE ALL THEIR BEST PLAYERS N EARN ALOT OF HIGH DRAFT CAPITAL TO REBUILD……YOU DONT LOOSE A FRANCHUSE QB WEN U HAVE 1 BCUZ THEIR HARD 2 FIND LOOK AT THE RECENT TOP COLLEGE QBS SINCE 2019 ONLY 2 1ST RD QBs HAVE REALLY PANNED OUT BROCK PURDY N C.J STROUD the others were not Franchise Changers since 2019 all these 1st Rd Qbs were BASICALLY BUSTS DANIEL JONES,ZACH WILSON,DREW LOCK,KENNY PICKET,KYLE TRASK,MAC JONES,TREY LANCE, N JUSTIN FIELDS he is talented i just think Chicago isn’t good at Developing QBs look at the Bears history of QBs really ONLY HAD JAY CUTLER n a 1 or 2 old school guys……

Us Bucs fans have to START STANDING 100% BEHIND OUR QB BAKER N start being MORE SUPPORTIVE this man came in after Tom Brady the GREATEST QB EVER n took us to the playoffs n made us Winners again Brady had this SAME ROSTER in 2022 in could’nt win with them or create a chemistry with Mike I Havent seen Mike play this Good with Any other QB but Baker had his career year in stats at age 30 that says alot thats WHY MIKE LET GM KNOW BAKER ELITE N THEY need 2 re-sign him bcuz he not playing with NO College drafted QB….. I think this QB draft class is overrated just like the Zach Wilson year i dont think Caleb Williams will be a winning Franchise Qb neither Bo Nix only way NIX have success is that he has to be in a certain Perfect system bcuz he failed in the PRO Offense Auburn ran n he had weapons on that team he had 2 go 2 a Spread offense 2 b successful so a team would have to build a college offense around him i think he WILL GO 2 WASHINGTON THATS Y THEY HIRED KLIFF KINGSBURRY TO fit Bo Nix oregon spread offense N I DONT SEE THAT WORKING IN WASHINGTON THATS NOT THEIR ROOTS OR TRADITION THEY ARE MORE OF A WEST COAST WITH GOOD RUNNING BACK N TOUGH DEFENSE TEAM…. BUT the ONLY 2 I SEE that might have a lil success is Drake Maye, M.Pennix eventually but NOBODY WILL PLAY like C.J Stroud or Richardson…..BAKER IS 4SURE A FRANCHISE N TOP 10 QB THE MEDIA WILL ALWAYS NOT GIVE HIM HIS CREDIT BUT TRUE BAKER FANS WHO WATCHED HIS CAREER PLAY HAS SEEN HIS TALENT SINCE HIS ROOKIE YEAR….. BAKER IS THE ONLY 1 OUT THAT QB DRAFT CLASS WHO COULD’VE TURNED AROUND THE TERRIBLE BROWNS TEAM WHO WON 3 GAMES IN THE 4 PREVIOUS SEASONS B4 BAKER ARRIVED n he took the city by Storm n CHANGED that entire Franchise over night n Fans still love him 2day giving them their 1st playoff win in 20years…..

BAKER N MAHOMES are the ONLY 2 QBs who have not LOST in a 1st Round series in the Playoffs or on wildcard week…..
BAKER IS 2-2 IN THE PLAYOFFS WITH 10 TDs n 3 Ints n
KIRK COUSINS IS 1-4 N THE PLAYOFFS 5 TDs 2 Ints and have THREE 1 N DONE LOSSES IN THE 1ST RD OR WILD CARD WEEK…… KIRK is very good in the Regular season like DAK but cannot win when it counts in Big games in the Playoffs n he HAS RECEIVED ALMOST 200$ MILLION in his career N HAS TOOK THE VIKINGS 1 TIME N HAS BEEN TO THE PLAYOFFS 1 TIMES OUT HIS WHOLE CAREER n got BLEW OUT BY THE 49ERS….. Yall uneducated football fans need 2 stop listening to the Media put out THE FALSE NARRATIVE ON BSLER THE MAN IS A WINNER N IS 1 OF THE BEST QB LEADERS OF A TEAM IN THE NFL…. 1ST THEY SAID HE COULD ONLY WIN IN A BOOTLEG OFFENSE N NEED A RUNNING GAME WHEN HE WAS WINNING IN CLEVELAND n he didn’t even have a true #1 WR there its was Jarvis Landry who is a PURE SLOT WR with no speed, Richard Higgins who we havent heard nothing else 4rm since he lost Baker,DPJ who Baker had looking like a 4sure #2 Starting WR n Baker left n he got traded, n Breshad Perriman who was considered a 1st round BUST n BAKER had rejuvenated his career n got him another chance with another team… SO BAKER MADE THE PLAYOFFS N HAD WINNING SEASONS IN THE TOUGHEST DIVISION N NFL WITH HIS RECEIVERS BEING JARVIS LANDRY,RACHARD HIGGINS,DPJ,PERRIMAN very few QBs could Win n let alone MAKE THE PLAYOFFS with that receiving core come on lets be Honest here……. So BAKER came to Tampa IN HIS 1ST YEAR WITH A NEW OFFENSE AN OFFENSIVE COOR. who Never called a PLAYS ANYWHERE HS, COLLEGE, OR NFL n had NO Running game in still put the team on his back n gor the 1st tyme had a TRUE #1 WR n True #2 WR n went out n threw for 4,000 yds n 28 TDs n 10 Ints the SAME NUMBERS JARED GOFF HAD n the media was praising him for bouncing back n playing Elite while doing it BUT HAD A NEGATIVE NARRATIVE ON BAKER come on folks Stop Letting The Media Control Your Mind n Thoughts When You Saw His Play With Your Own Eyes n he had SO MANY GAMES WERE HE MADE ELITE BIG TIME THROWS THAT ONLY A FEW QBs CAN MAKE OR EVEN TRY even Troy Aikman n Kurt Warner said that about Baker numerous times BAKER ARM TALENT IS INSANE….LETS NOT 4GET ALL THE DROPS MIKE N OTTON HAD OVER THE SEASON HIS SHOULD’VE HAD 4,500 YDS N 34 TDs if not for drops…… Then he had a Offensive Coor. who looked LOST n called some horrible plays n HAD ALOT OF BAD BEGINNING OF THE GAME GAME PLANS THATS Y THEY ALWAYS STARTED SLOW but once Baker started just reading the defense n seeing what ghey where trying to do he was getting into his own zone around the mid to late 2nd Quarter……. Canales held the offense back alot n had a terrible running scheme always running inside zone when White is a speed guy who can get on the edge fast Canales should’ve been running mostly outside zone behind Wirfs your Best O Lineman n running more pin n pull where he was pull Wirfs using his athleticsm in space Plus using more RPOs n more playaction bootlegs to hit Mike n Palmer over the top on deep routes then having a counter when teams stop that n bootleg 1 way but throw the RB,WR, or TE scredn to the opposite side away 4rm where the defense is flowing…. IT SHOWED HOW INEXPERIENCED HE WAS HE DIDNT HAVE GODWIN PLAYING HIS BEST POSITION IN THE SLOT HE PLAYED MORE OUTSIDE wen the numbers shows us that he averages Way more yds in the slot an is good at getting open on option routes against LBs or safeties……… But If you go WATCH LIAM COHEN OFFENSE AT KENTUCKY HE KNOWS HOW TO USE HIS STAR PLAYERS N CONSTANTLY GET THEM THE BALL IN DIFFERENT WAYS…. HE ALREADY SAID GODWIN IS PLAYING MOSTLY SLOT N HE PLAN ON USING PALMER SPEED TO TAKE MORE DEEP SHOTS something Canales didn’t do…… BAKER WAS THE REASON CANALES GOT THAT HEAD COACHING JOB IN CAROLINA BUT WATCH how different n Worse his offense look Since HE DONT HAVE A FRANCHISE QB I WOULDN’T BE SUPRISE IF CAROLINA WINS 5 GAMES THIS YEAR BECAUSE BAKER COVERED UP ALOT OF HIS BAD PLAY CALLING BUT YOUNG WANT B ABLE 2 DO THAT……..

    John Says:
“could we swoop in on cousins instead of mayfield and would that be who evans was really talking about when he said he wants to play with an elite qb?

Cousins was 26-29-1, no playoff victories and 89 QB Rating his first 6 seasons, all with one team. He parlayed that into the highest paid guaranteed contract at that time. Fast forward six years later and Cousins has two playoff appearances with a single playoff win for Minnesota. Baker did all that his first six years with 42-46 record (I am giving him credit for his first game Browns over Jets and first game Rams over Raider victories which he played 3 quarters). With two playoff victories including a first in almost 30 years for a 1-31 Browns just before he got there.

Both have been extraordinarily durable though Cousins is 35 coming off a season ending Achilles tear. I am not seeing why you think Tampa should go for the older QB who has half the number of playoff victories in twice the number of seasons. Who is 7 years older and coming off an Achilles tear. And will ask for $5-10M per year more and does not have a future beyond 2 years. I guess you enjoy lots of stats for the next couple of years but not a lot of playoff victories. Baker is trending to what Cousins eventually became 6 years after his money contract but with a little more playoff success the first 6 years.

BAKER WAS THE REASON CANALES GOT THAT HEAD COACHING JOB IN CAROLINA BUT WATCH how different n Worse his offense look Since HE DONT HAVE A FRANCHISE QB I WOULDN’T BE SUPRISE IF CAROLINA WINS 5 GAMES THIS YEAR BECAUSE BAKER COVERED UP ALOT OF HIS BAD PLAY CALLING BUT YOUNG WANT B ABLE 2 DO THAT……..

Canales was the reason why Mayfield is not competing with Mason Rudolph for a Back Up job in 2024.

5 wins @ Carolina this Season? Wish my 401K improved 150% in one year.

Don’t forget the receivers, TE and RBs. Can you name WR, TE or RB on Carolina’s roster. DJ Moore and Christian McCaffrey play for other teams now. The Panthers don’t have a pick until the second round in 2024. And they gave up their 2025 2nd rounder. They do have $35M in cap space. Bucs has $37M in cap space. Lets see which WRs want to get overly paid to play for a rookie HC (who will last 2 years) and a very short and skinny inaccurate QB.

Tony Marks – Hey dope, why do you just flat out lie and make stuff up. I’ve never said anything good about Mike Glennon, I hated that giraffe looking dullard.

Oh wait, when I’ve compared Baker to Glennon, you’re such a clueless moron, you thought it was a compliment.
