Party For The Bucs?

Another boat parade?

Joe wonders if Bucs fans will join in like the last time.

Earlier this week at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis while addressing the hundreds of #NFLMedia on hand, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht was asked about how deep the free agent pool will be.

Mostly, teams have not yet tagged many players so the pool could change before the free agency dinner bell rings March 13 (after two days of legal tampering).

Licht believed this year there would be many quality free agents for teams to choose from but Licht added he is not focused on that. He feels if he is able to sign the Bucs’ free agents, he will be quite happy.

In fact, Licht said if he is able to bring back all the Bucs’ free agents he wants, the City of Tampa needs to host a water-themed party for Licht and the Bucs.

”Well, yeah, there always are [quality free agents each winter],” Licht said. “But like I said before, like we’re focused on signing ours right now.

“I mean, if we can re-sign Mike [Evans] and Baker [Mayfield] and Lavonte [David], Chase [McLaughlin], Antoine [Winfield Jr.] and Tristan [Wirfs], I mean, we should be throwing another boat parade. So, that’s a pretty good class there.”

Joe’s always up for a good alcohol-fueled boat day, how about you?

Yes, Joe knows that Wirfs is not a free agent. But he is entering the final year of his rookie contract. If the Bucs can get Wirfs to sign a new contract, that could free up a bunch of cash for the current unsigned free agents.

So yeah, if Licht can pull that off and re-sign those free agents, that would be like landing six Pro Bowlers, including several potential Hall of Famers.

Hell yeah, there should be a parade if Licht pulls that off!

Hell yea! Let’s do it. I’ll bet you a case of Big Storm we see an alligator too!

  3. The Truth be Told Says:

We are all going to be stunned in a couple of days when we see all the good things that have happened. They will be bringing back all of them! There is a very good vibe with this team-players want to play and stay here. Go BUCS!

  4. Boss Says:

Translation….. we ain’t getting them all back.

Out of that list the easiest to replace in mike

  5. ModHairKen Says:

    And a C or G, please.

  6. Smashsquatch Says:

Jason looks like Fred Flintstone in that pic!

  7. Ugotrobbed Says:

Bud Lite!! Really!! Where’s the Big Storm JL!?
    NFL=WOKE

  8. Since76 Says:

The easiest to replace if not signed is Mayfield. And he will be the most expensive. Any decent QB will play better here just like Mayfield did. Really worried if Mayfield is signed he will play as bad as he did the last four games last season. 3 bad games to one good one. When everything’s on the line that’s not good folks.

@ Ugotrobbed: In the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka, “Lighten up Fancis”

  10. Beejezus-belt Says:

It would be in the Bucs best interest to sign Wirfs now, before he becomes an all pro left tackle. That price tag will go through the roof.

  11. Upstate NY BUC Says:

We need to get Jerome Whitehead back in the fold!!! think he is a free agent…. He already knows the defense, would be fabulous addition, come on Jason come March 13 make it happen!! Go Bucs.

  12. JimBobBuc Says:

Yes, getting a deal with Wirfs is VERY important. For me, Wirfs/Winfield are #1 priority, they are younger and could be productive for many years. I hope we can get these contracts done soon, and maybe, just maybe, we can bring in other FA’s?

I wonder about our expensive and often unavailable CB’s. Could we trade or restructure them?

  13. BA’s Red Pen Says:

The salary cap is not real. The Buccs bring back everyone they want to. That being said, No more 13, no more season tickets purchased from this paying customer.

  14. Bucben61 Says:

“Baker will be the easiest piece to replace’

Really….with who….please don’t start with the Trask argument or one of the over the hill rookie qbs

  15. Capt.Tim Says:

    No.
He was “Happy” Bradys last year.
We lost Cappa, Marpet, and Eventually Jensen.
He was happy.the line SUCKED! And we wasted the last opportunity for Brady to win us a SuperBowl!
Last year, We fielded a team with a horrible Offensive line. We couldnt run the ball.
If he had Addressed the Center position, and the other guard we mighta been playing another week or two.

Dont get me wrong, I think Jason Licht is one of the top 4 GMs in Pro Football!
    Love the Guy!
But Im not gonna be”Happy” until we address the gaping holes in our lineup!
We had all of our free agents last year- and couldnt overcome a horrible Oline.

So yeah, sign our Free Agents. Get a quality Guard a Center in here.
    Find a Pass rusher!
And THEN Ill be happily drunk at that parade again! Cheering myself horse!

Thank you so much for the laugh. I needed it today. I feel bad saying this, but after looking at the picture again, yes he does.

  17. GP Says:

We need a REASON for an alcohol fueled boat parade?!?!
Having the team there is just a major bonus!

  18. Pete Says:

Jared Verse probably won’t be around when the Bucs pick, so draft his teammate Braden Fiske. Long before the combine, I had him as a top tier D lineman. Saw him play live a couple times this past season. He’s very talented. After, of course, we resign our free agents.

  19. sasquatch Says:

They’re gonna do it, unless M1K3 is dead set on testing the market.

  20. Dave Pear Says:

When Licht makes Slowles hire a defensive coordinator who understands how to teach assignments and correct mistakes, it will be time to throw down.

  21. Bucsministerfuller Says:

    Parades are for SB winners.

Call it a drunkfest not a parade.
