NFL super insider Peter King.
NBC Sports super insider Peter King loudly and proudly said the Bucs would suck this season.
He even got annoyed that fans were annoyed by his take.
Joe is confident King’s take was rooted in Baker Mayfield hate, little respect for Todd Bowles and perhaps even less for the roster built by general manager Jason Licht.
So King thought the Bucs would end up with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Instead, they’re picking 26th and looked liked a real playoff team.
At least King owned up to his miscalculation in a big way this morning, per his Football Morning In America column.
It may be a typo, but King seems to think his assessment of the Bucs was the biggest mistake of his career.
You too, Tampa Bay. Great run for the men of Todd Bowles. My call on the Bucs as the league’s 31st team back in the spring, by the way, is in the top one of worst predictions of my career. Mea, mea, mea culpa
Joe is glad King owned up.
Joe suspects King will try to make up for this slight by slobbering up to Licht this offseason and at 2024 training camp. In response, Joe would love to see Licht hand King Devin White’s key card to One Buc Palace –along with a few other useless trinkets — and tell King to jump in the Bay with one of King’s beloved overpriced coffees.

Great timing Joe, I just commented on this in another thread. How about experts who picked the Bucs to go 9-8 and win the division? Who was right on this? Did any ‘expert’ pick the Bucs over the Eagles in the playoff game? Which local experts were right too?

Fugem, King is no sharper than the drunk at tge end of the bar. He picks and goes with the teams in big markets. I’m fine with him and all the others like him overlooking the Bucs.

King like so many “fake football experts” is a buffoon. Not sure why anyone pays attention to these guys. Do your own research and thinking. Never rely on clowns like King.

One of the Joes, Stroud, someone from Pewter Report and a few other local podcasts ad media picked in the 8 or 9 win category but most national media clowns picked the Bucs to have a top 5 or 10 draft pick.

Devin getting seriuos piece of humble pie, watching from the sideline in the biggest game of the season. I know he played some, but everyone saw him watching from the sideline. He is a journalist – a pretty good one.
I know this may shock people – but journalists suck at predictions.
In fact pretty much everyone sucks at predictions.
Until I see someone post their draftkings winnings I assume everyone is just talking out of their butt.
Good for him for admitting it – which is more than 99% of human beings ever do.

Happy and surprised by Bucs year.
I do not know if there was ever a year where our offensive had as few as injuries as this year since I have been watching.
For everyone just suggesting that Canales – Baker combo will be successful again next year. We will see if they actually have to deal with some more adversity than they had this year on offense.

This actually earns respect from me. Better late than never!
I do not watch or read most of the guys who are famous ‘sports analysts”.
Many of them impress me as much as “influencers” on social media which is to say not at all. But I do not recall any of them like Cowherd, Rome, Steven A or others ever admitting a mistake. Feel free to correct me since again I confess I’m aware of these guys but do not view them regularly.
