Potential Mike Evans Explosion Coming

January 7th, 2024

Stinking Panthers killer.

As Joe is wont to do, Joe has read all sorts of stories in the hours leading up to a Bucs game.

One theme among these various pieces seemed consistent: Expect future Hall of Fame Bucs receiver Mike Evans to have a big day.

Maybe it is because Evans rarely has a bad day. Maybe because some folks think the Stinking Panthers have their heads in Jamaica right now and not on a football field. But Eric Moody of BSPN put out this little nugget as to why he thinks Evans will have a big day: Evans averages eight targets a game.

So Joe did a little bit of research. Evans had a season-high 12 targets in the Bucs’ win over the Stinking Panthers. He went crazy that day with 162 yards receiving including a 75-yard touchdown catch.

Only against San Francisco has Evans had as many targets this season, but his production (43 yards) wasn’t close to the damage he did to the Stinking Panthers.

Evans has been on a nasty streak against Carolina. In the second-last regular season game of 2022, Evans nearly punked the Stinking Panthers single-handedly. He had 207 yards on 10 catches and three touchdowns on 12 targets in that Bucs home win that also clinched an NFC South crown.

So yeah, if recent history is any barometer, Joe can see why folks are looking at Evans having another crazy game against Carolina.

Hopefully he has that same game 10 catches 207 yards and 3 tds that would only be 2nd to a Bucs win! Don’t care who the qb is Mike can ball with anyone who can get him the dang ball!

  2. David Says:

Hope so because that first game was very close for most the game

Hope so too. Weather sounds doable. NC may be all over Mike though. Bucs need to make a point today and have a big point win lead.

I would surprise the panthers by starting with a no huddle. Then do that 3 more times through 3 q at random times. Once you have a 4 TD lead bring in Trask in the 4th and run out the clock.

Evans has shredded CAR for the last few games. I’ll be upset if Licht lets him get away. Pay the man!

There stands Bowles, stoic as can be
If not for his blunder the Bucs would have three

The only coach to take the ball from Brady,
Not very nice, since he lost his lady

BA set the stage, that senile old man
Invisible he is, in Geogia getting a tan

Tomorrow’s the big one who’ll win no one knows, it didn’t have to be this way but last week Bucs froze

Along came Baker, many teams passed him by,
He loses tomorrow you may see him cry

For Bowles it don’t matter he’ll just make the call,
Like poor Ole leftnut, Canales will take the fall

Come Blowzo, come Bowels, come toilet bowl,
No matter what he’s called he never sheds tears,
Good or bad tomorrow, he’s here four more years!

I’ll take a big game from ME but would also like to see CG and RW both get their yards to go over 1k yards for the season.

  8. Mark hardt Says:

Yea ME, CG, And RW all.get TD from BM.

  9. Beeej Says:

I was thinking Baker would get comeback player of the year, looks like it will be Flacco now. Dude was just gonna retire because nobody wanted him even as a backup, until the Browns called. Those dudes could make the Super bowl

I live here in North Carolina and the conversation on TV and radio is not allowing the Buc’s to make the playoffs is a priority. The Stinking Panthers hate the Saints( like we do). They play the Buc’s a little harder in Charlotte. We have to have the mind set of scoring as much as we can ever time we have the football. Not only to win, but to win decisively so we can take that momentum and plant it right in the back side of the Eagles. There is some wishing here since we tend to have a hard time winning at RayJay, let’s GO BUC’S.

NE Fan, I bet it took all of your intelligence to write that. It was a little entertaining. GO BUCS!

    David,

    Just a beautiful poem.
Too bad we’re playing today and not tomorrow…..
