January 25th, 2024

Joe got this wrong, quoted the NFL rule but missed a fine-print qualifier. Apologies.

could the 2 3s turn into one 2nd rounder?

  2. Lol Says:

    F#$K

  3. Lol Says:

    8-9 or 9-8 next year again….

  4. Austin Says:

    That’s a pretty nice haul

  5. Rob Says:

Now, with Canales gone it’s time to let Bowles go and hire an offensive coach like Ben Johnson.

  6. Pryda…sec147 Says:

Awesome love to see it and I have full confidence bowels will be able to get another great OC he proved so last year

  7. TomBucsFan Says:

WOW, we will be lost with Bowles.

  8. realistic-optimistic Says:

Let somebody else pay big cash for Baker and we can get another 3rd round comp pick. Let’s go!

  9. Idiots Says:

Then get the F out canales.
Don’t let the door hit ya and good luck with that wet noodle Bryce young hahahahaa he sucks

  10. StormyInFl Says:

Can we fire Bowles and get another pick?

  11. Saskbucs Says:

Don’t like losing Canales at all. Guy just has it, you could tell from his introductory press conference. I do love the draft picks though. So that’s a 3rd this year and a 3rd next. We aren’t waiting until 2025 draft to get the first one?

Makes it easier to package something and trade up on draft day for an edge rusher.

  12. Professional Pirate Says:

    For Clarity,

Don’t they need to be on the team for a minimum of two years to get those comp picks?

  13. usmc9498 Says:

    Go get Monken for HC

  14. Idiots Says:

Canales’ offense wasn’t special at all.
Shouldn’t be that hard to replace

  15. JFeldz Says:

(ii) The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if:
    a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and
    b. The minority employee is not the Head Coach or Primary Football Executive of the employer-club and is hired into the same position with the new club. There can be no break in employment between clubs.

  16. TomBucsFan Says:

perfect time to let bowles go and hire monken….

  17. DS Says:

Congrats to Canales he is good with developing QB’s, his play calling was suspect like why are we constantly giving Thompkins the ball and he is at best a 5th WR and never gets yac

  18. Jack Clark Says:

Two third round picks for a mediocre OC?! LOL, Jason Licht is not getting paid enough! 🤣

Dave Canales is a “white” Mexican-American btw

  19. Beeej Says:

Does that mean we have to use the picks on a blue-haired lesbo from Nigeria?

  20. Dewey Selmon Says:

we’ll get another pick when Devil White signs somewhere else?

  21. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Raheem Morris V2.0. Not a bad coach, but a bad situation with an owner that isn’t right in the head + a roster that isn’t that good. But Canales will be set financially for a long time. That is why John McKay took the Bucs job in the 70’s – it set him financially for life.

  22. Buc4evr Says:

Good, get a stud lineman. Either on the O or D.

  23. Healz Says:

If the Bucs let D. White and JTS walk this off-season will they get compensatory picks for both since one was the #5 pick and JTS a 1st rd pick #32?

  24. Bucfan Says:

are the Glazers stupid enough to give bowels another year? The only reason the Bucs made the playoffs is the nfc south is weak. The eagles were a mess and gave the game to the bucs.

  25. Rusty Shackleford Says:

Memo to the Glazers: Bury the hatchet and go get Jay Gruden. Not Jon. Jay. Great offensive mind and IMO, the better coach of the two. Players relate to him and his Arena background will bring the Bucs offense in to the 21st century. Hell, Jay even got something decent out of Kirk Cousins and that is saying a lot.

  27. Boomer Says:

Not a great loss. Hated his play calling.
    Doesn’t speak well for Canales.
He signed a contract that now he refuses to honor.
    No ‘honor’ in that.

And all JL gets is 2 3rd round picks?

So previous article suggested Dungy had a hand in this? Kinda tells you something too….

  29. Jwbuc94 Says:

I swear if this team just hires Thad Lewis without looking at other candidates outside the organization. I’ll pull my hair out. To many great coordinators and this job is a good job to have. The offensive pieces are essentially there.

  30. Chuck D Says:

Idiots makes a good point. I was looking forward to Canales growing as a play caller next season but let’s not pretend Bill Walsh left the building.

  31. D Cone Says:

What are the chances he brings in his Buddy Pete Carroll to help make the Defense even better and help him adjust to his new position?

Will we be hearing “He’s had 4 OC’s in the last 4 years” if Mayfield just so happens to show you the other side of the coin in 2024?

Improvements in AFC West and NFC South are going to make it tough on the Bucs in 2024. Wild Card could be a stretch.

    Congrates to Canales.

  32. HC Grover Says:

We got the best of this deal.

  33. Bucs1995 Says:

This is being disputed on twitter, apparently he would have had to been our OC for 2 seasons for us to qualify for comp picks

  34. Marine Buc Says:

Cool – hire Frank Reich and let’s use that 3rd round pick on a new RB or WR or TE and let’s roll!

  35. HC Grover Says:

    He wanted to escape Bowles.
