Baker Mayfield Will Start

January 5th, 2024

Green light.

Todd Bowles made it official today. Injured Bucs starting quarterback Baker Mayfield has been given the green light on his sore ribs. Mayfield will start Sunday at Carolina.

Bowles said all players will be ready for the game against the Stinking Panthers. That includes cornerback Carlton Davis.

Of course, it’s a do-or-die game for the Bucs. Win and they host a playoff game next week. Lose and they clean out their lockers.

Tie? Well, maybe they play next week.

Good news. It looks like the defense will be full strength on Sunday as well.

It seems foolish to be worried about beating a team with only 2 victories but for some reason I am…

I just don’t TRUST this team anymore.

I especially don’t have much faith in this coaching staff after watching this team take a giant poop on the field last week.

Hey Canalas – I hope you keep trying to run it up the gut at least 15 times in Carolina – that would be awesome bro.

    Good grief.

  2. theghost Says:

they need to blow them out 38-7

  3. Conner50 Says:

Playoffs or no playoffs get rid of Bowles

  4. JA Says:

    That’s a load off.
For a few days it appeared like we’d have a 6’5” QB under center instead of a guy who gives opposing d-lineman sore hands from blocking his passes.
Makes sense though. Baker and Bowles are joined at the hip, and if they lose on Sunday to a two-win team they both might be out of a job come Monday.

Id rather have our 6ft qb start JA than a backup who’s never played and can’t hit a wide azz open receiver in the corner of the endzone on a simple fade.

If the bucs do not go deep early and often it is game over. and the bucs playing 10 yards off the ball. How many years have we been bitching about that.

seriously yall, I would take a 8 year old madden boss over todd bowles ANYDAY!

  12. Lt. Dan Says:

Carlton Davis is starting? Uh – oh…

  13. Lt. Dan Says:

  14. Richard Dickson Says:

Top 10 in yards and passer rating and Top 5 in TDs but we should still start Trask….

  15. David Says:

I warned everyone that Baker is exaggerating his injury. He is the trash drama queen as he has been in the past 6 years. He might not have played if we played against a wining team. He knows the Panthers are the worst team in NFL and he doesn’t want any part of Trask glory and publicity in replacing him.

TRASH BAKER BE CARFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. YOU PLAYED LIKE A GARBAGE YOU ARE FIRST TIME WE PLAYED PANTHERS. YOU BARELY BEAT THEM WITH LAST MINUTE FG WHILE THROWING AS TRASH YOU ARE AT 48% 1TD, 1INT WITH LOWEST LEAGUE QB RATING OF 26.

YOUR DADDY, TOILET BOWL WOULDN’T EVEN BE ABLE TO SAVE YOU IF YOU LOSE THIS GAME CAUSE HE BE GONE BEFORE YOU REACH THE LOCKER ROOM.

  18. David Says:

Hey trash Baker Panthers pass defense is third in nfl. I wouldn’t try to pass with your faked injured ribs.

We will know how much you really are injured with your first passes.
You are either faking an injury or you are as lunatic as you were playing with injured shoulder in Cleveland. Either way you don’t give damn about team if you are really playing with injured ribs.

I seriously think you are faking it this time around. There is no way you can play in just a few days with such an injury.

  19. BucsBeast Says:

Hate to be the that guy but….

David, go suck on a Lemon. Ol’ Bake won a road playoff for the Browns at Pittsburgh in 2020. Last time CLE won a playoff game before that was 94. Last time on the road was 69. The Bucs are gonna whoop some Panther butt, playoff win over the Friggin Iggles. This team isn’t perfect but they got a lot of heart, and ain’t going down easy.

  21. Bucfan Says:

Too bad. Looks like the Bucs may win & they will bring back bowels next year because he lead the team into the playoffs. One & done!

Just a few QB’s that have a better completion rate in the RedZone.

Desmond Ridder, Joshua Dobbs, Tommy DeVito, and Zach Wilson.

Almost think Mayfield couldn’t get it in unless one of you Baker Bois held it for Him. If the baby is named Cheyenne it may be true.

    ————-

On Sunday the Bucs were -6, now they’re -4.5 – so ‘smart’ money has been put on the Panthers.

However, I think that is more about the line than people flat out picking the Panthers.

If the Bucs blow this … it’s housecleaning time, but I have faith that the Bucs can beat the worst team in football with a home playoff game on the line. As to cover? Well, I would just avoid this game.

  32. Since76 Says:

He played after the injury last week. Not well but he played. Why would he not play this week????? If I played that bad I would want to try to play better the next week too. Could be the last game of the season because he choked again last week.

  33. Capt.Tim Says:

    If Baker is good- playoffs!
If Baker cant go, we are in trouble. But at least the Team was smart enough to get John Woolford some snaps

I think we win Sunday, but that miserable lil POS Tyrann Mathieu probably ruined our shot at advancing.
But he did us a favor, by exposing what cowards we have playing Oline for us.
No wonder they cant run block. Probably worried about their nails.

  34. David Says:

    Let’s examine what the journey trash qb, Baker has done different this season than his trash history besides the inflated late rgarbage time TD’s and passing yards;

    1. .500 a slight improvement over his 40w-46L record in nfc crap division. That is why he wanted come to Tampa besides his reunion with his daddy, Toilet Bowl
    2. 1W-6L against the wining teams.
    3. Losing to other trash qb’s, Desimon R., Bruce Y., Derek C. while losing to good qb’s, Jarred F., CJ Stroud, Jalen H. and Bruck P.,
    4. Playing with injuries or injuries related issues generated by the drama queen, Baker.
    5. 63% completions a slight improvement over his career 61.7% due to dink and dunk plays to minimize turnovers to satisfy the toilet bowl requests.
    6. 50% redzone efficency ranked 18th. in NFL. worst than Geno S., Jusin F., Sam H., Joshua D., Russell W.
    7. The slight improvement 28td, 10 int’s(2.8 rartio ) vs 134 td, 74 int. (1.82 ratio).
    8. 39 career fumbles in five previous years (7.8 per year) vs 8 fumbles this year. Baker led the nfl in turnovers the past three years.

These stats and records still represent a journyman with a slight improvement as his up and down perfromance in the past six years.

  35. Defense Rules Says:

theghost … ‘they need to blow them out 38-7’.

First time we played them this season we barely squeaked out a 21-18 win. Fairly even game actually in that we both sucked that day. Young was 15-of-31 for 178 yds passing with 1 INT, while Mayfield was 14-of-29 for 202 yds & 1 INT. We ran for 128 yds; they ran for 133 yds. Yes we won, but it surely wasn’t anything to write home about.

And BTW, Panthers got the ball back in that game, behind by 3 pts, with 3:31 to go. What probably saved us was some bad play-calling on their part in that last series. Panthers had 3rd-and-1 for a 1st down, but chose to pass twice (after they’d had good success running the ball). The 1st pass was incomplete; the 2nd pass (deep) was intercepted by Winfield at the Tampa 43, allowing us to run out the clock with 3 kneeldowns. We’ve seen 3 losses this year already where our defense couldn’t stop that last drive.

  36. David Says:

    Bucs fans,
Ask yourself, can we win a super bowl with those Baker’s stats and losing records of a journeyman qb and a HC ?

  37. SlyPirate Says:

    LET’S SAY YOUR BAKER’S AGENT

    I’d recommend he sits.

If Baker plays and the Bucs win, we will secure an offer.

If the Baker plays and the Bucs lose, Baker loses money. He may not even get an offer from the Bucs.

If Baker doesn’t play and the Bucs win, it doesn’t matter because it’s Carolina. Anyone can beat them. Baker will have led the Bucs to the playoffs.

If Baker doesn’t play and the Bucs lose, Baker looks GREAT. He’ll get a better contract offer.

  38. Tony marks Says:

    Capt.Tim Says:

    ————

I think Baker will be fine for the playoffs ifs he dosn’t get hit Sunday. I think theres a good possibility he doesn’t too. I see canales going heavy on the run game. Might even see some roll outs which Baker loves but seldom gets.

  40. Defense Rules Says:

David … ‘Baker led the nfl in turnovers the past three years.’

Today’s politicians seem to believe that if you say something loud enough and often enough, then enough people will believe you to make it true. My guess is that you’re a politician.

    o 2022: Mayfield had 10 turnovers (8 INT & 2 FL). Josh Allen had 19 turnovers (14 INT & 5 FL).
    o 2021: Mayfield had 16 turnovers (13 INT & 3 FL). Josh Allen had 18 turnovers (15 INT & 3 FL).
    o 2020: Mayfield had 12 turnovers (8 INT & 4 FL). Josh Allen had 16 turnovers (10 INT & 6 FL).

So for the past 3 seasons, Josh Allen has a total of 53 turnovers while Baker Mayfield has a total of 38 turnovers. And Allen had more turnovers each season than Mayfield did.

You can try saying it a little louder or more often, but that won’t change the facts.

And I recommend the Bucs tell him to hit the road, if his entire gimmick is that he has ‘moxie’ and is a tough guy, then with 2 games left in the season with everything on the line he has his worst game of the year, then wants to ‘play it safe’ and sits out the finale.

If that happened, his new nickname would be Gutless.

  42. Conner50 Says:

  45. UKBuccaneer Says:

Are we still pretending that height is a factor in batted passes?

Russell Wilson suffers very few batted passes. Trevor Lawrence has tons. Drew Brees had very few batted passes. Can Newton had a lot.

Let’s examine what the journey trash qb, Baker has done different this season than his trash history besides the inflated late rgarbage time TD’s and passing yards

    OK.

Let’s examine what Kyle Trask has done in the NFL.

    1. For his career he’s thrown 10 passes and only completed 3 of them.
    2. For his career he’s only thrown for 23 yards.
    3. His career QB Rating is 39.6
    4. The longest pass of his career is 9 yards.
    5. His yards gained per pass attempt is 2.3 yards.

Yet you want Baker Mayfield, who is in the top ten in several QB categories, who is tied for 4th in TD passes, to be benched for that kind of production. You’re living in a clown world. 🤡

No you Traskies are clowns. its actually 10 and how many times this year have we heard if Trask came in he would light things up instantly ? Every other game

    FACTS:

Trask has been in the the league three years and the consensus of his coaches is that he hasn’t even been good enough to be a second stringer all thos eyears.

    FACTS:

despite all th clap trap hype from the cult of Kyle 31 teams passed on him twice in the draft. He’ s nothing but a late second rounder and you all have him down as the saviour of the franchise and a frachise great QB.

    FACTS:

HE got the chance to blowout the journeyman you claim Baker to be – AND HE FAILED. You all claim baker sucks badly but yet no one even the Joes has ever said KYle was head and shoudlers over Baker.

IF baker sucks so badly and he can’t out class him then KYLE SUCKS

Instead of dealing with simple straightforward facts you traskies come up with the stupid, drop dead moronic, ditzy calim there was a conspiracy and the coaching staff decided to risk their jobs and chose the inferior QB.

You all are dumb and dumber.

so have a stroke. I wil contineu to put out the facs of what KYle has done in

  55. Bucfan1988 Says:

To all you goners that are still putting down fans that wanna see Trask play….

The 30% completion for 23 yards

ONCE AGAIN, this was last game of 2021-2022 season against Falcons when Trask was playing with a few 2nd & a lot of 3rd stringers on offense!!!!!

What’s Kyle’s career stats with the 1st string offense???

Answer – Including THIS YEAR, he is 0-1 with a dropped pass by Godwin in the end zone that Godwin should have caught…
He had not played a single down with the full 1st string offense til this year…

Stop with the 30% completion crap for 23 yards because you all know that’s BS and misrepresented…..

If Trask sucks with the starters, then I’d be totally game on pushing negativity towards him.

We all just wanna see what we have in him.
How is that too much to ask???

  56. Buckeyebuckchuck Says:

Jack, that is funny stuff right there. I’ve thought the same a ton of times. People arguing “will Baker be back” or “is he worth it”. Licht said at beginning of season, we’ve seen him play at a high level. Obviously referring to 2020 and this season is similar or maybe a hair better. With that in mind, there are some core players in a contract year like Winfield and Evans that need retained.

  57. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Go Midge!

  58. UKBuccaneer Says:

If the front office had any faith in Trask, we’d not have brought Baker in to begin with. Personally I think the front office are a better judge of QB play than me or anyone else on JBF, so I trust their decision.

It’s highly likely that Trask isn’t the guy.

  59. David Says:

Baker fans, the word stupid will reflect your images when you end up following Baker with your trash vehicles to XFL destinations. Uh, wait has your car past the State Inspections/Safe to drive ?

We are discussing your trash qb stats and inferior accomplishments in his six garbage years. If you comparing your trash stats qb to Trask you are a dumb because he has zero record in NFL. If you are comparing your trash qb to the GOAT then you are the dumbest fans of any sports on this planet. Feel bad for your wives that have to improvise your trash comments.

  60. D-Rome Says:

We all just wanna see what we have in him.
How is that too much to ask???

It’s too much to ask because the team is on the verge of winning the division and hosting a home playoff game, which is good for the Bucs organization and the fans. The only teams that are benching their QBs in week 18 are the ones that clinched the division.

We don’t need to see what we have in Kyle Trask. The Bucs coaches and suits already know. Baker Mayfield has contract incentives if the Bucs make the playoffs. I’m sure a few other players do as well. None of them want to miss out on the playoffs.

  61. Marine Buc Says:

I wouldn’t judge any QB on less than 200 NFL snaps…

To be fair you need to evaluate a large enough sample in order to give a fair judgement.

    200 snaps would be @ 3 games.

    * I am not a Trask “fanboy” nor am I a Gator fan. Just trying to be fair.

  62. BucaneroJim Says:

Licht was referring to Baker playing at a high level in 2020? Then please, quit comparing Baker in 2023 to Brady in 2022. Compare Baker to Brady in 2020. The cult of Baker is annoying.

  63. Oneilbuc Says:

If we lose this game with Baker Mayfield at quarterback I don’t want to hear no excuses for Baker Mayfield if he plays bad . I don’t want to hear he was injured like every one said about his last year in Cleveland which he was but no excuses for Baker Mayfield in this game. He should have never played when Jamies played with a broken finger on his throwing hand and with a need injury none of y’all gave him a pass . So no excuses for Baker Mayfield and I’m bringing up Jamies to remind y’all how bias y’all were against Jamies. So no excuses for Baker Mayfield.

  64. Tb bolts Says:

Its quite obvious Trask voiced his displeasure with getting screwed out of the starting role. He waited two years behind brady then bowels brought in his journeyman who “gave him the best chance to win” (as the bucs currently sit at .500 in the tank division) the lack of reps.. even GARBAGE TIME reps tells us that bowels is on a power trip and is making Trask pay for speaking up. Now we have a banged up mayfield who wants to play no matter what because any success Trask has will be bad for him and his journeyman career (as well as his father toad bowles) Trask just has to keep waiting it out. If not next year then the year after when he leaves this org thats completely screwed him. Plenty of teams will be chomping at the bit to see what he can do in this QB hungry league. And while Trask is finally getting his time, Joe will be on here posting excuses for his journeyman QB that he adores so much. Sign mayfield if your heart desires year after year of subpar football.

The time will come Joe the only question is will you ever admit you were wrong?

Thats pie in the sky and completely out of touch with NFL reality . every Qb cannot be guaranteed three starts. The place to make your case for starting is universal in the NFL – barring injury its in practice.

YOu can probably count on one hand the amount of head coaches that can burn three games testing out a Qb who hasn’t shown it in practice. This is what many of you argue for that is silly – You insinuate that the evaluation of the QB by the coaching staff in practice doesn’t matter as a “fair judgment”

    Thats just utterly false .

Now honestly woud I poiint out trask’s 30% record if it were not for the grand claims made by Bake haters in the Name of Trask? Probably not. But since Trask is suppsoed to be this wonder kid that can step in and move the ball down the field in an instant then YES – his longest in the NFL of 9 yards speaks agaisnt that claim

So it wil continue to deserve to be brought up.

  66. Gipper Says:

I never stated this and when Baker was given the starting job I was fine with it.

“But since Trask is suppsoed to be this wonder kid that can step in and move the ball down the field in an instant”

I believe the term you are looking for is “WUNDERKIND” not “wonder kid”. LOL.

But I understand what you mean.

Regardless – I won’t pass judgement on a QB that has not played more than 200 snaps in the NFL.

  68. Tb bolts Says:

Tony marks until your father mayfield wins a playoff game for Tampa you should cease fire on here. His last performance in a playoff clinching game against the teams biggest rival was absolute poverty. Mayfield isn’t clutch and his day is never going to come. You traveling mayfield jock washers are delusional and its getting old seeing your twenty comments a day defending a QB thats done nothing but bounce around the league like the village bicycle.

If we lose this game with Baker Mayfield at quarterback I don’t want to hear no excuses for Baker Mayfield if he plays bad

Then dont read because we dont give a rip about your directions as to what we can evaluate. We know with Grade A 100% certainty had trask started this game and stunk it up we wouldn’t stop hearing about excuses from the cult of Trask. So you won’t be dictating to anyone on Sunday or beyond as to what kind of observationd they can make.

I have no idea of the health of baker. I was for starting trask. I also have no idea neither do you of whose driving the bus in terms of the preferred starter. Does Bowles prefer a 75% baker to Kyle – wouldnt be surprised .

That possibly being the case , I won’t hesitate if Baker looks banged up to say so . Don’t like it ? too bad. Lastt I checked only Joes can tell people what they can and cannot say.

  76. Beeej Says:

Gonna try this ONE MORE time.

In Brady’s first season here (when we won the Superbowl) Saints wiped the floor with us twice. Between the 2 games, Brady had 2 TD’s, 5 picks (including a pick 6), with 450 yards passing TOTAL.

In the NEXT season (when we only lost 4 games) the Saints did it aGAIN. Brady improved a little bit, throwing 375 yards, 4 TD’s and 2 picks in the FIRST one, but getting shut out 9-0 in the second one, 0 TD’s and a pick, barely passing 200 yards.

Are we to conclude from this Brady is a trash QB, or perhaps it’s a team game, thus a team LOSS?

    ”Let’s just agree to disagree.”

    ————————-

To me thats always beena dumb saying. I have no requirement to agree with you on anything, I stated palin fact . Every QB tht comes into the league CANNOT get three starts

    ——————
“You insinuate that the evaluation of the QB by the coaching staff in practice doesn’t matter as a “fair judgment”

    I never stated this”
    ———————–

I never said you stated it. I said you insinuated it – different word – by claiming to takes three starts to evaluate a QB that neccesarily suggests the evaluation of the coaching staff in practice is inadequate.

    ———
I believe the term you are looking for is “WUNDERKIND” not “wonder kid”. LOL.

    ———-

Too stupid. I meant exacly what I wrote wonder KID. A wunderkind is someone that achieves greatness at a very young age. Kyle is a pretty standard age at 25 for a QB but he still is a kid to me. He is NOT a wunderkind. Look up words before you try to correct others.

    ——-
Regardless – I won’t pass judgement on a QB that has not played more than 200 snaps in the NFL.

as for you laughing…….. Nice try

You been crying all season and are just now extra salty because Trask isn’t even starting now in the last game. A whole season of whining for trask to no avail. We all know you are crying and weeping on the inside. You are not even in line for an Oscar because its such a poor acting job.

It doesn’t matter who starts at QB. No one can play as bad against the Panthers as our offense did last week. It was over in the 3rd. Thats not excepted here. There is no excuse for the offensive play.

  85. NE Fan Says:

DR, nice stat comparison Baker vs Allen. What you FAILED to include was how many games they played and how many attempts. I won’t embarrass you by asking you to post TD’s. Seriously????

  86. #99 the big fella Says:

You little girl’s always have to blame baker for everything. Did baker call all the running plays up the middle? Did he fumble twice? Yes he had a couple interceptions but that’s not what caused us to lose the game. If trask started the beginning of the season you guys would be crying why isn’t baker starting? You ladies always have to have something to complain about..careful what you wish for trask bois.. and David you can return Kyle tracks jock strap to him .. you don’t need to sleep with it anymore.

    —-

Why are you so dim? In data analysis you cannot exclude data but have to include all of it. In this case its not a small sample size because it INCLUDES practice data. In Kyle’s case THREE YEARS OF IT

thats why you miss not just the plot but the whole landscape – Your insistence that its game time data that determines the evaluation – when everyone with the slightest knowledge of the NFL knows coaches determine viability of starter material by PRACTICE.

Kyes 30% completion record is ON TOP OF the fact that an NFl coaching staff has determined he is NOT starter material and at times wasnt even second string material.

Enroll again in data analysis class. You muat have been sleeping through half of it.

  90. realistic-optimistic Says:

Since when are coaching staffs infallible? They range in quality just as player skill does. There are plenty of examples of players that were either undeveloped or unused by their original team then went on to have success with another organization. It’s very common. Stating that a player is a known quantity without real field time is just absurd. Every coaching staff that ever existed has made mistakes.

  91. shak Says:

  92. Trask Cult Leader Says:

I love the BM rallying cry of “Lets Bake”…

    * Get really high off of pot
    * Have Baker Mayfield play a game at QB

    Both mean the same thing

  93. Marine Buc Says:

    @ realistic

    Well said.

Not to mention – It’s true Trask has been a back-up for 3 seasons.

BUT – let’s not forget 2 of those seasons the Bucs had the GOAT as their starting QB…

  94. Rod Munch Says:

What’s with the Baker Bois talking about Trask? Who is even bringing him up?

If Baker is supposed to be this top tier franchise QB that you want here for the next decade, how come I have yet to see any of the Baker Bois just come out and say don’t worry about the stupid Panthers, Baker is going to come out and crush them.

Instead its comment after comment about Trask, when no one is even mentioning him.

Have some confidence in your man. It’s just embarrassing.

  95. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Y’all crack me up…..

You really think Trask got quality coaching buried as 3rd string / 4th string with Ryan Griffin his first 2 years???

Bucs playing for superbowl with the GOAT and Gabbert wasn’t going anywhere as 2nd string due to his experience and knowledge of Arians/Leftwich system during those first 2 years….

All he got was basics and it takes time when you aren’t getting reps to absorb the NFL game…..

This offseason, he gets substantial coaching and tons of reps competing w Mayfield, then all of the sudden, he takes a massive leap !!! Geez, go figure 🤦🏻‍♂️…

This is his first year of getting quality coaching & attention….

Trask now is completely different than what we saw last year.
    Thats obvious.

He’s gonna get his shot eventually, where it’s a Tampa or somewhere else….
We have him next year, so it should be interesting.

  96. Drew Says:

Baker was drafted by the 1-32 Cleveland Browns.. the stats and his win lose record needs to be put in some context here Cmon.. The Bucs have a chance to win the Division and Baker has played well with a really bad run game and an Avg defense. The guy won a Heisman Trophy and broke the rookie touchdown passing record. Let’s give him his flowers and show some respect to the fact he’s held it down with the whole world saying he’s done!

  97. Defense Rules Says:

NE Fan … ‘What you FAILED to include was how many games they played and how many attempts. I won’t embarrass you by asking you to post TD’s. Seriously????’

Did you miss the part where David wrote … ‘Baker led the nfl in turnovers the past three years.’ And that’s what the response was directed to … TURNOVERS. It was a clearly false statement that had nothing to do with how many TDs each threw during those 3 years, nor even with how many games each played (for the record, Mayfield played in 42 while Allen played in 49).

I’m glad that you liked the comparison though. That’s obviously why I wrote it.

  98. D Cone Says:

    Bucfan1988 Says:

Answer – Including THIS YEAR, he is 0-1 with a dropped pass by Godwin in the end zone that Godwin should have caught

Yet some are quick to point out if it wasn’t for drops Mayfield would have 3 more TD’s.

All I can judge Trask on is Preseason where he was 60% completion in two games and 70% in one. All games he was around 11 yards a completion. Got baited by one of Pittsburgh’s best DB’s for a pick.

Mayfield’s bragging rights came for being 8 of 9 and 7 and change in yards per pass.

Trask will get his opportunity soon enough.

  99. Used to be Browns fan Says:

These coaches had better start playing to win instead of playing not to lose. Baker has been a bright spot this year and should be resting this week. He is old school and will tell the coaches that he is fine when he is not. If not for bad play calling, this team would be 11-5 at this point.

  100. David Says:

Baker fans shut the hell up. Trash Baker will not come out of the game on his own on Sunday just like he did back in Cleveland. Thge healthy Baker laid turds last week let alone the injured one. If he is really injured. I doubt it. He just making the injury as excuse in case he plays as bad as he did last week and Bucs lose. Toile Bowl will fail to pull him even if he start throwing to other team.

Baker asked to be traded in Cleveland, NC and LA as soon as he was benched. He would rather be a scrub or unemployed than being a back up. He is a trash as his fans. We only have three more weeks of him and TB to bear.
You would see none of his trash fans on this website then.

  101. David Says:

LOL. Every time anyone post any dirt on Baker, his pathetic trash fans attack his back up. If Trask is garbage then why are yo so feared of him ?

You trash bake fans, do you have any nfl official meaningful stats to back up your comments ?
I have six years of garbage on and off the field that he is nothing but a trash.

  102. Tony marks Says:

. It’s very common. Stating that a player is a known quantity without real field time is just absurd. Every coaching staff that ever existed has made mistakes.

    ———-

NOw THAT logic is absurd. Just because a system is not 100% foolproof does not mean it shoud be abandoned. NOTHING In life is foolproof or error free..

Want to play every QB three games regardless of what happens in practice? Guess what? That too is not foolproof. Consider the greaat love of your life Baker Mayfield. Don’t you all say he is inconsistent? can he ever look good for three games ? Yep . However according to you guys he sucks. So three isn’t enough is it?

So whats next? 6 games? Show me a team thats going to jettison 6 games every time theres a new later round QB and the fanbase that is not going to call for the head of the HC for a losing season? Get real. You are talkin gibberish.

That knd of investment is only indicated for top draft picks because they have been evaluated by multipe scouts, pundits and gms. YOu will all bring up Brock Purdy and so will I – as an example of how rare it is compared to all the Qbs that have come through the NFL

and heres the kicker you don’t kow squat that Purdy wasn’t showing more in practice so the claim the practice evaluation system is violated by Purdy is unproven. IF a player is getting better it almsot always shows in practice for the simple reason that practice is easier.

This dufus thinkng is why some of you have this great Hate of Bowles and how he has held back your beloved trask – Because you don’t understand the NFL. 90% of the HCs would do the same thiing. Its about WINNING . You don’t go into games for experimentation. You go withthe guys that show in practice they understand and can execute your game plan.

and that desire to win to stay employed is pecisely why the syst em works.Rather than the Trask cults drop dead stupid conspiracy theory. a coaching staff will never pick thr worse QB and risk their jobs. Thats all total nonsense.

  105. Jack Clark Says:

The Baker Mayfield fanboys are right. On paper Baker Mayfield is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when comparing him to the quarterbacks on the best offenses in the NFL. For example, currently the Dolphins have the #1 offense in the NFL with 59 total touchdowns and the 49ers have the #2 offense with 58 total touchdowns.

    1. Tua Tagovailoa has 4,451 passing yards, 28 touchdown passes, 12 interceptions, 67 rushing yards, zero rushing touchdowns, and 13 fumbles

    2. Brock Purdy has 4,280 passing yards, 31 touchdown passes, 11 interceptions, 144 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, and 6 fumbles

    3. Baker Mayfield has 3,907 passing yards, 28 touchdown passes, 10 interceptions, 156 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, and 8 fumbles

Statistically, Baker Mayfield is on par with the best quarterbacks in the NFL and deserves a $40 million dollar a year contract.

In Baker AMAZING CRESCENDO performance… where he won against Pittsburg in the playoffs… the browns defense had 4 interceptions… the running backs ran for over 100 yds… baker had 3 td on less than 300 yards throwing. That was bakers all time… great… timeless victory performance.

Yeah he was absolutely carried. And the following game where baker..wait for it….. ALMOST beat kansas city.. he had around 200 yds 1 td 1 pick. Does that stat line look familiar? Baker gets carried by his teammates. When they can’t pick up his slack its a laughable performance as weve seen all season minus two games out of 16. He is a mediocre journeyman with a big personality and a jaw line drawn on so well its just beautiful. Almost looks real.

This army of traveling Baker obsessed fan girls on here are defending a bad QB with nothing at all to back it up. All of the disrespect to people who want to see if our 6’5 draft pick can ball will age so bad. Baker isn’t going to improve lol… but Trask is untapped potential. We all know how this is going to play out.

And yet anytime bakey sucks (which is often) its nothing but excuses galore. When baker sucked it was todds fault… now when todd plays baker through injury todd is the bakery clubs hero. Theres no rhyme or reason to these baker fan girls and their arguments. Its just happy feet and shooting in the dark… just like their idol baker

  114. Usfbuc Says:

I hope Baker is actually in a condition to play and not making the same mistake he made with the Browns.

People should stop putting faith in the coaching staff and administrative staff and their ability to evaluate players. This is the same staff who has started JTS (and others) and given him a significant number of snaps when all the world can see they aren’t any good. Same staff who couldn’t fix our run game. They forget they have timeouts. Play too slow when they need to move faster. Play too fast when they need to run out the clock. Try to run the ball from our one yard line when we can’t run the ball. There’s also the weird mismanagement of Devin White and the other strange comments and media interactions.

Yes, BM does have above average numbers of batted passes, but that’s a result of his gunslinger style of play – not his stature.

    ——

UKB The thing thats really dumb about people going on about batted passes is they are a big nothing burger. No one in the league has a big problem with them

for example The difference betwen trevor lawrence and baker last time I checked boils down to one more batted pass PER FOUR GAMES

so if you throw 35 times a game Baker is going to give you one more batted pass evrey 140 attrmpts – which is basically meaningless. Only time its a big deal is when it results in an int – but Baker’s ints are low

    So much ado about nothing

Dear Connoff in the NFl they have a position called the GM . It has nothing to do with Game management. In the NFL the GM utimatlely decides who to draft . NOT THE COACHING STAFF . Now the GM will listen to some of what the HC thinks (thats Head COacH) but the call is made by the GM.

Now we have this other group called the COACHING STAFF. they take the draftees and work with them to see if they are ready to play

If I find you a Baker Mayfield pacifier, I’ll be sure to send it you 😉!

    Good morning Tony!!

    Awwwwe you’re so cute.

I heard you called & pleaded with Hasbro to make you a life-size Baker Mayfield doll to cuddle with at night, but they turned you down.

THey never even condsidered it because their Kyle Trask version was selling so well in central Flrodia already……. among single males that can’t get a date.

Bucs better have Trask ready. If the rib injury is worse than we know, Baker could go down with one hit. Panthers know that too.

Very simple- Eagles 27 Bucs 10. The coaching staff can look for new jobs. Time for a new staff..
