Mike Evans, Todd Bowles Talk Bucs’ Surge

December 24th, 2023

Admit it, you’re pissed that you didn’t ask Santa for Buccaneers gear when you sent that letter off to the North Pole four weeks ago.

Perhaps you asked for a brown bag. Maybe you can use that to bury your Todd Bowles voodoo doll in.

The Buccaneers are on a roll, winners of four in a row and the team appears to be improving steadily.

What’s going on? Mike Evans had a simple explanation on the Buccaneers Radio Network following today’s hammering of the Jaguars. “Just keep playing good ball at the right time. That’s all I can say,” Evans said about the team’s surge.

He went on to praise the Bucs for how they “keep coming to work.”

Rookie edge rusher YaYa Diaby hailed excellent practices as a reason for the Bucs’ improvement.

Todd Bowles went right to the heart of the matter. “Our playmakers are making plays. That’s what you want in December,” Bowles said.

The head coach said younger players are fueling the winning streak, noting many “got the hiccups out of the way” earlier in the season and are playing good ball now.

Most important, Joe believes, was Bowles’ assessment of his team’s attitude. “Everybody wants it bad.”

With our offense maturing and game plans changing and adapting that would mean that other teams would not have a good read on us. No longer can we be viewed as predictable.

  2. Citrus County Says:

Todd Bowles showed some real passion on the sideline as he gave #30 Dee Delaney a good verbal thrashing about something. A smiling and tongue lashing Bowles is very good to see.

We’re in the playoffs Baker haters…go suck it! Seriously we’re on a run to compete with the best of them…..sneaking in baby, and at the right time….im loving it!

Heh Joe Merry christmas–both of you are such good fans, you never seem to call for a total rebuild like some of us (me) when the going gets tough. Anyway I still hope they get a quarterback in the draft but Baker looks good and is worth signing for longer. Maybe keeping Todd Bowles would be ok for another year. Todays game was one of the best to watch as a fan in a long time. Last year was awful. So seeing our team play complementary ball was a real pleasure!

    I want it bad, too.

coach is starting to look real safe, in an ice cool seat right about now…

if not for that midseason looooong azz slump, we’d have a heck of a record…

I particularly loved his comment as reported at halftime “We need to keep our foot on the gas”.

That’s what we’ve been waiting to hear. Not play to “keep it close” or “play not to lose” but step on our opponent’s throats when we have them down.

  8. Hammerhead Says:

    Not over yet.
Keep doubling on Evans and worrying about Godwin.
Palmer getting targeted early made a point.

  9. Crickett Baker Says:

I had no worries at all that we would beat the Jags. I have some about the Saints, though. They want to beat us really badly I am sure.

    Go Bucs!!!!!

First and foremost, I would like to say “Congratulations ” to the Tampa Bay BUCS
You all need another great season like this, with Mike Evans still with the team. If you get rid of him and the others there will be no Tampa Bay Bucs we can say that does good. The whole is just so awesome that they make my day to be able to watch. So just think about not getting rid of the group because of a salary cap. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year, may this coming New Year be so incredibly awesome. Brenda
