Injury Red Flags

December 7th, 2023

Hurt feelings are blowing through the winds around One Buc Palace while tangible injuries are piling up.

New names appeared on the Bucs’ official injury report.

Yes, linebacker Lavonte David (groin) and SirVocea Dennis (illness) are back to full strength. But yesterday’s report included new players and injuries.

Rookie right guard Cody Mauch has a foot issue and was limited in practice. Tristan Wirfs is listed with a back problem to go along with his bad ankle. He was “limited,” too.

Perhaps most distressing was manbeast defensive tackle Vita Vea showing up with a toe injury. He was held out of practice. With the Falcons running the ball 33 times a game, Vea is a critical component to Sunday’s game in Atlanta.

Center Robert Hainsey was limited in what appears to be injuries to each knee. It could be typo, “knee/knee,” on the report. Regardless, he was limited in practice with at least one knee issue.

As Joe mentioned yesterday, Devin White remains sidelined with a bad foot.

When you loose confidence in the coaching, injuries pop up.
It’s sign the players are tuning Bowles out.

  2. Dlavid Says:

Man oh man !! The boys are packing it up already !!! Bowles time is short …. A lot of changes coming after the season ends . Hopefully we lose Sunday ( looking more and more a reality ) and the necessary overhaul begins . Fire the cannons !

  3. bucs107 Says:

Coaching causes injuries these clowns lol

  4. Bosch Says:

Too many guys that suffered no apparent injury are suddenly coming up injured during the week. Something is not right.

  5. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Listening to Bowles, my head hurts. Put me in the injury list too.

  6. Lt. Dan Says:

Devin White sidelined is not a bad thing. Just tank already and lets move onto the draft.

  7. WillieG Says:

At least we aren’t seeing two or three hamstring injuries every week like we have for the past few years. Were there changes to the training staff? Or did the training staff learn something new?

  8. SB~LV Says:

OBP way of moving up in the draft while still trying to act like they GAF

  9. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

Anyone notice how Todd Bowles tries to talk with his teeth clenched??? Always sounds weird!!

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Offense is still relatively healthy… we need to take a big early lead & wont have to worry about their running attack.

  11. Curse of Gruden Says:

I was hoping Bowles would be on the injury report and unable to coach.

  12. Allbuccedup Says:

    Ditto Curse of Gruden!

  13. HC Grover Says:

My Magic 8 ball says outlook good for 3 game losing streak. Atlanta Green Bay and Jax. 5- 10 Right on Bowles batting average. Split with Panters and Stainks and he hit the pre season predictions of the Vegas pickers. 6-11. One tie would nail it at 6.5. If he wins at Atlanta then the Stainks game would be the key. Panters are so pathetic I think he wins that one.

  14. Jeff Says:

This is the end. And if the Bucs do something idiotic and go after Justin Fields we’ll have 10-15 years of losing seasons. JBF will be finished, too. Nobody will care anymore.

  15. A Bucs Fan Says:

Vita was out of practice again today. I don’t think he’ll play and if he does he’ll be as effective as he was against the eagles.

On another note Chris Godwin had a “planned rest day” and didn’t practice today either. Hmmm.

  16. TonySoprano Says:

Is there any part of Vea’s body that has not shown up on the injury report that this season? The dude seriously needs to lose weight. He looks unhealthy.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

TBBF … ‘Offense is still relatively healthy’.

Mauch (foot), Wirfs (back & ankle), Hainsey (knee) have issues just from who Joe listed. Then add Godwin (neck?) & Mayfield (ankle?) to the hurting list, plus heaven knows who else given our luck.

I guess compared to our defense the offense is relatively healthy though. On yesterday’s injury list I counted 8 defenders hurting, including just about all of our ILBs. Given our injury state, you know Atlanta is gonna run – run – run to eat the clock, and very likely succeed in doing it.

  18. bagelman Says:

    Deja vu

  19. Crazyhorse54 Says:

Yep, when a team is winning injuries and pain are real but palatable. When a team knows they suck, injuries and pain are overwhelming. It’s just that simple. When family gets involved with comments it’s bad…real bad. Seriously, after Sunday’s loss the Glazers need to intervene. It’s falling apart.

  20. Buddha Says:

7 guys out for Atlanta…did not practice. Both starting cornerbacks.

  21. 1#bucsfan Says:

Next man up. Having LVD an SVD back will help with the run game. If vea is out that’s a big blow. Stopping the run has bin about average to our standards gunna need the big guy to plug up the holes

  22. teacherman777 Says:

I think the anti-Bowles people are insane. And probably a little racist.

He is a top 10 defensive coach in the NFL.

    The whole NFL respects him.

Our defense is literally 100x better than Koetter or Lovie Smith or Raheem Morris’s defense. (I liked Schiano’s defense a little bit)

But Bowles is easily the best coach we have had in over 10 years.

    What’s wrong with you guys??

  23. stpetebucfan Says:

    teacherman

The team has left at least two and probably three wins on the field that they turned into losses. Much of that is due to the defense.

I used to respect Todd as a DC but this year his side of the ball has been a bust.
Yeah the offense didn’t help but it wasn’t expected to as much as the D.

Perhaps D.R. is on to something in that Bowles should have delegated more.

I was a guy who grew up loving Don Coryeall and those great S.D. teams with Fouts driving the boat. BA was music to my ears. I LOVE offense.

  24. StormyInFl Says:

“But Bowles is easily the best coach we have had in over 10 years.”

Is this for real or are you trolling?

Bruce Arians is 10x the coach that Bowles is.

Bowles is horrible. He stunk in NY and now more of the same issues here (especially game and clock management).

Any more years with Bowles in charge are a waste of time.

  25. Rod Munch Says:

Tristan Wirfs has clearly been very injured since that 49ers game when he came out – they really need to sit him out if he’s not healthy, the last thing this team needs is for something to happen to him.

  26. TF Says:

teacherman 777 that is perhaps the most ignorant, reckless, narrow minded moronic accusation. Clearly you are 12 years old. Wait “Teacherman” enough said. Continue on with your constipated thoughts, ideas and baseless accusations instead of ignoring the fact that Todd Bowles is HISTORICALLY inept as a “head coach” no matter if he is black white or purple. You are only stating his obvious “defensive coordinator” stats that NOONE here has ever disputed. He is an amazing D Coordinator. Head coach he is grossly ineffective at leading a FULL team.

  27. Bucco Bruce14 Says:

@ And probably a little racist.

Here we go….. Color has nothing to do with his IQ of coaching. If anything the NFL is giving these losers over best man for the Job because of color. To shut up people like you, that play the race card for an easy path in.

  28. SufferingSince76 Says:

Teacherman, you take that race card and shove it where the sun don’t shine! That’s below the belt bullspit. Wanting Bowles gone has nothing to do with the melanin in his body. He is a bad head coach and his record proves it.

You can’t handle that and automatically go to the race card. Shame on you. Or are you projecting?

  29. infomeplease Says:

At this time of the season, everyone is banged up! Some more than others of course. At any given time, most of the starters could be listed on the report.

  30. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Everyone knew that a 17 game foremat would result in a lot more player injuries. I put this on ownership greed and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

  31. Larrd Says:

Let the big man rest up!

    Big game in December!

    Can’t wait!

  32. SlyPirate Says:

Fortunately, the final nail hits the coffin on Sunday. We can end this, “We’re only one game behind,” charade.

  33. Chris Says:

All you “fans” excited for a possible loss need to turn in all your Bucs gear. You’re not fans. Go get yourself a Falcons jersey if you’re rooting for them this weekend

  34. WyomingJoe Says:

EVERYONE on the injury list (with possibly one exception) will be playing Sunday. PLUS the conspiracy BS seeping up through cracks in the “Cult of Kyle”crew is beyond laughable. Professionals not playing hard because their feelings are hurt is ludicrous. You guys are such losers!

    Keep winning Baker.

  35. Not Says:

Injuries no problem , let’s get back to our number 5 pick. F the 10th pick.

  36. Fred Says:

Include me. I have a big pain in the butt with the coaching.

  37. Crunchbuc76 Says:

Joe you have to let it go. This season is already long lost. Bowels has seen to that. This train wreck of a coaching staff has to be jettisoned as it was never the right choice in the first place. The dude was handed the keys to a Ferrari and turned into an old, red hoopty overnight.

  38. garro Says:

Vea is a toough dude but he has been hurting all year. Get Gholston some more snaps this week, he can still stuff the run. White is addition by subtraction. Hope Hainsey is one knee and that he and Mauch can be full go. Start Russell, he earned it last week.

    Go Bucs!
