Historic Day, Historic Season For Mike Evans

December 3rd, 2023

Joe wonders how much more money Mike Evans made today.

Outrunning a defensive back and diving into the end zone after 55 yards after the catch shows general managers everywhere that you still have big-time game speed — in December on a wet field. That’s what Evans did today with his big third-quarter score (video below).

Head coach Todd Bowles said after the game that Evans is getting faster with age.

Evans, 30, finished with 7 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. Entering the game, he needed 150 yards to bust the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the 10th consecutive season. Mission accomplished. Only legendary Jerry Rice has more, and Evans can tie him next year.

That touchdown was Evans’ 10th of the season. At this rate, Evans will challenge his career-best season in 2018 (86 catches and 1,524 yards, 8 touchdowns).

“I’ve said it a bunch. Mike’s a dog,” Tristan Wirfs told the Buccaneers Radio Network in the happy Bucs locker room. He added that Evans “busts his butt” all week and balls out on Sundays.

What a day by Evans. He said after the game that it was a dream play for any receiver because of the chance for all that YAC and a dive at the pylon.

I hope on Monday they finally announce his extension.

  2. Bee Says:

Mike had 162 yds and Baker had 202…smh. Without Mike the Bucs are the Panthers lol

  3. Miller5252 Says:

Joe, how much did you make off your bet on the Evans bet today? Between it and the win it’s a pretty good day!

  4. realistic-optimistic Says:

I’ll be honest. Canales has been hit-or-miss with his playcalling. But, I’ve never seen Mike get more YAC than he has this year. That’s on Canales.

  5. Jack Clark Says:

80% of Baker Mayfield’s lousy 202 passing yards today came from Mike Evans (162) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mike Evans the GOAT!

  6. Canabuc Says:

The whole game seem to be last year’s left which plan which was run the ball up the cut with white and then throw it to Evans.

Thankfully we played a significantly inferior team but wasn’t until late in the game where I saw some innovative play calling such as the touchdown to Godwin.

If they don’t get more creative will be lucky to sniff seven wins

  7. A Bucs Fan Says:

This man needs to retire a buc! 5 years 135 million with 80 guaranteed over the first three years. I think he will be like Jerry Rice in that he plays into his mid-30’s at a high level. Pay him now. Please and thank you!

  8. Dlavid Says:

He ain’t worth more than 20 million a year if that ! He has had a lot of dropped balls this year … he is the only real weapon we have so naturally ….. to all you Chris Godwin and his two TD’s , save it !

  9. All_da_way Says:

Congrats to one of the all time greats. Mike Evans you have earned it and then some!

  10. Lol Says:

    Please extend this man already.

    SMFH. WHY DID THEY WAIT!?!?

  11. Please Says:

And the throw was behind him

  12. Duane in Sanford Says:

He looks better than he has been in a while, and I still feel like we need to get him the ball more. That TD will be on his highlight reel for the HOF.

  13. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

One of the best receivers who have ever played. Start measuring him for that gold jacket.

Seen this a bit from Traskies and ita such another dumb take from them. Everyone was aware of the numbers with Mike coming in and during this game SO obviously the QB would especially endeavor to feed Mike the ball in this game.

There are herbs and Nutrients you can take to increase your IQ. It won’t do miracles but it will help a bit.

  15. 1#bucsfan Says:

THIS GAME IS FOR THE HATERS ON THIS SITE WHO CALL HIM WASHED UP AND PAST HIS PRIME. OH TRADE HIM HES NOT WORTH THE MONEY. 😂😂😂 y’all have no clue what talent looks like. Congrats ME13. I really hope you retire a buc.

  16. BucsFan81 Says:

There are a lot of players on this team getting contracts that are not living up to them. Shaq, Devin White, Jamel Dean to name a few. Evans bust his tail every year and produces. The guy plays hurt and always shows up. He is a superstar and his contract should have already been extended. He needs to retire a Buc.

  17. orlbucfan Says:

Not sure how the HOF works, but he better be recognized in the first round of voting.

  18. ModHairKen Says:

Licht, you F’d up. Now own it and pay the man.

  19. Jgar Says:

If there was ever a doubt number 13 is a first ballot Hall of Famer. How about we find a way to trade Davis and Dean and give Mike his extension. He needs to retire a Buccaneer. If we can find someone dumb enough to take our two overpaid corners I’m all in favor . They’re both injury prone and I’m sorry, I don’t see it (talent).

  20. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Tonya Marks how do you operate with 2 phallus on your mind, Fakerboi’s and Trask’s??? Everything is always Trask fans this Trask fans that just because they say derogatory things about a qb who doesn’t play any better than someone who’s never started? Funny thing some aren’t Trask fans or UF fans just we know and have seen what Fakerboi has to offer and all its going to do is hurt the Bucs in the future. It’s better to see what our 2nd round draft pick can do especially since Fakerboi didn’t beat him in the off season. You and the Bakettes can’t see properly because your faces are pushed so far up his private place you taste his food before he does.

    ^^^^^^^

Hmm? No. That’s on a contract year.

  22. Dave Pear Says:

    Trask? ROTFLMAO

  23. ir8oldman Says:

Look y’all. The Bucs could NOT “Pay the Man” because of the Cap situation, a lot of dead money gonna drop off come the new fiscal year, and then (if Buc management does not forget) He will get a nice 3 year contract. Any longer than 3 he’ll need a walker with wheels. (He’ll still get open).

At one point in the 3rd quarter, Evans had 75 receiving yards, yet the entire Bucs offense only had 71 yards total…

LMAO, the run game is so, so, so bad.
