Head Cheerleader Devin White

December 5th, 2023

Sunday was the first Bucs game linebacker Devin White has missed since COVID knocked him out of the 2020 season temporarily.

That had Joe very curious about how White would react, given his Winter 2023 trade request and that White’s injured foot and other banged up body parts have been wearing on him.

What Joe saw on the sidelines was White being a head cheerleader for his Buccaneers. He wasn’t ducking for cover in the rain and he wasn’t hiding on the bench. White spent a lot of time next to Todd Bowles, as well as alongside Lavonte David, who also was in street clothes.

When Antoine Winfield sealed the Bucs victory against Carolina with an interception, it was right who jumped right into the fray to congratulate Winfield. See game photo above.

Joe’s not sure the Bucs missed White on Sunday, but they do miss what a healthy White can bring to the team. Per Bowles’ comments yesterday, it seems White won’t be ready for Sunday against Atlanta.

It’s probably too early to tell, but it’s probably safe to say White is significantly injured to be off the field.

Thank you for your Super Bowl season contributions! Wish you could stay healthy and disciplined here because you’ve the tools to be great. Hope you mature and figure it out wherever you go next season.

    Misplaced Cheerleader Devin White?

  3. Watch More All-22 Before Commenting Says:

This seems like a role better suited to his present skill set.

  4. Paratrooper Buc Says:

White burned a few bridges with the fans by demanding a big pay day then a trade while not producing to the level to justify the payday. Fans are one thing, I’m guessing his teammates accept his desire to want money as it is a business. At least he is cheering on the sidelines. Some players don’t show up or just stay on their phones. I always respected the starters who were injured but were on the sidelines with a headset, helping out and cheering.

We learned this weekend from Russell, that you don’t need a $20 million dollar or heck even $11 million dollar MLB.

Thanks for everything in 2020 Devin, I will always salute you for the int return against saints in the divisional round. That forearm, we all felt it and loved it.

“White ranks No. 81 out of 82 graded linebackers by PFF with a 39.2 overall grade and a 31.3 run defense grade”

I find it hard to believe there was a linebacker worse than Devin White this year, but even if there was, that guy was probably TRYING, UNLIKE DEVIN WHITE.

  8. Beeej Says:

He’s being blocked out of plays by 180 pound wide receivers, his work ethic reminds me of ROJO

  9. Daniel Says:

He wasn’t a very good player before the injuries. Just sit him down the rest of the season. Defense looked better without him.

  10. Dave Pear Says:

Finally found a position he can play without blowing assignments and using poor technique.

  11. HC Grover Says:

Give him some Pom Poms!!! He can dance.

  12. Pryda…sec147 Says:

White is fantastic and he will be back next year bet

  13. Joseph C Simmons Says:

I’m pretty sure White has been injured since like week three. He was a terror earlier in the year, then one week he showed up on the injury report and he’s been invisible ever since.

  14. Tony Says:

Another reason I would’ve leaned more towards Josh Allen over him that year & obviously Josh Allen is looking better. Maybe the Bucs can jump on him next year as a FA before Jacksonville resigns him but I doubt it. We’d rather stink.

  15. Show Me the TDs Says:

White finally found a position in which he can excel.

  16. Voice of Truth Says:

I don’t like him as a player and he was a major reach at 5 but he has clearly been on one leg since week 3 – even though, I would not pay him anywhere near the top of market

Maybe we will get lucky and Todd will immediately get a DC job after getting run in 6 weeks and want DWhite to build around – 🙏🤞

  17. bucs107 Says:

Playing on one leg all year since Philly game

  18. Conner50 Says:

His best year was the Super Bowl year and I’m grateful for that style of play he put on. However he’s been way to inconsistent since and blows to many assignments to be resigned for what he expects. Dennis,Russell and Britt along with David next year isn’t bad

He balled out in the Superb Owl year through the playoffs but was lost in coverage and his tackling was trash through the regular season. He still tackles like he is trying to mount a horse. I was not on board with him being drafted by the Bucs in the first round (though I admit he has talent) because of his bush league tackling technique and you never take a LB in rounds 1-3. They are a dime a dozen. Look at Rich Homie (thanks to Lynch) Kwon. 5th rounder who beasted for the Bucs, got the 49ers for $15 mil a year after his rookie contract was up here but where is he now? White’s tackling, getting his ankles broken by jukes or taking proper angles has not improved at all. Enthusiasm is cheap and easy to come by- any of us could have been on that sideline to hype up the Bucs in street clothes. He may be the leader of this defense but this defense crumbles on the regular in crunch time. Let him and Bowles go to Carolina together or nowhere special. I shed no tears. Eff you White and the horse you rode in on…

  20. Hopein1hand… Says:

Dennis the Menace and J.J. platooning with LVD to keep his old legs fresh is all I want to see next year at MLB. The Bucs can let him go without burning a draft pick.

  21. Eckwood Says:

Agent wants him totally rested for one big effort at years end !!

  22. Lakeland Steve Says:

Wonder who White will be playing for next year?
