A Stinker Off The Edge

December 31st, 2023

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and friends couldn’t take advantage.

So the slimy Saints played today without their Pro Bowl right tackle Ryan Ramcyzk.

Joe was excited to see what Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Anthony Nelson and friends might do filling in for Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett off the edge against a backup. And then the Saints’ backup got hurt early in the game.

In came veteran Cameron Erving, who was just signed off the practice squad to take Ramczyk’s roster spot. Joe suspects Erving will get a game ball from Saints coaches for his performance as a third-stringer.

Erving was playing with his hair on fire. Nelson and Tryon-Shoyinka? Not so much.

Buccaneers Radio Network game analyst Dave Moore, the retired Tampa Bay tight end, noted how much the Bucs missed Shaq. Moore was clear that while Shaq’s stats haven’t been good this season and overall he’s not the player he used to be, Shaq remains disruptive and today’s film will show how much he was missed. Shaq injured his groin last week.

It was a downer for Joe to see the Bucs not take advantage of the Saints’ in-game injuries. They had two additional injuries, as well, including Alvin Kamara.

Plan 9 From Outer Space had no fuel again. He is a horrible excuse for an NFL line man. Give him a skirt and let him do The Can Can Dance on the 50 yd line for Halftime entertainment. The Fans will love it. For some strange reason Bowls insists on playing him.

  2. HC Grover Says:

I saw one play where he touched a falling RB then started beating his chest and acting like he had done something.

  3. Saskbucs Says:

One rep from JTS was particularly disturbing. Can’t pinpoint when exactly but it looked like he could have tried to make the tackle on the RB after about 2-3 yard gain but didn’t want to take any contact and then he tripped. I don’t think anyone touched him, he wasn’t in on the tackle and he ended up on his chest. They need to trade this guy for extra coffee in the locker room, wake up the other players on a day like this.

  4. Saskbucs Says:

Get rid of Bowles, JTS and D.White… have another good draft. Team should be better next year.

  5. Jack Clark Says:

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka looks like the NFL started allowing transgenders to play

    And plays like one too

  6. Eric Says:

Joe know Cam was once a 1srt round draft pick right

  7. Buckeyebuckchuck Says:

YaYa and McCollum had good games. Winfield was a little off, but he can’t be Batman forever. Saw a lot of plays where Devin got basically ran over. Not their best outing. As Belicheat would say, “On to Carolina”.

  8. StormyInFl Says:

JTS is a bust, yet Bowles insists on trotting him out there.

The guy flat out sucks at football. Waste of a pick and waste of a roster spot.

If they can save even 25cents of cap room dumping him they should.

  9. ElioT Says:

    The whole defense is garbage.

Winfield is good but at what cost?

    Corners are horrible.

Defensive line is below average. Vita’s best days behind him.

    Edge rushers are just awful.

Lavonte is our best LB by far at 34.

    BAD DEFENSE!

    POSERS!!

  10. Saskbucs Says:

I don’t know about good game for Zyon… he settled in a little bit I guess but he missed a tackle for loss that extended the first NO drive and then gave up easy first down to Olave on same drive by giving him a 15 yard cushion. Part of that is coaching but absolutely ridiculous. Zyon has a better first drive and they don’t put up 7.

  11. BucsLife Says:

What about Antonio Winfield making another costly mistake ? Obviously when you don’t have a bunch of studs on defense his effort and play IMO gets over hyped, but he’s an above average safety and this DPOTY crap is what it is crap. He cost this team a chance at playing for another Super Bowl and allowed Hill to score. He needs to stop reading the clippings because his play isn’t worthy. The entire D shat the bed most of the game and to not get pressure or a sack just shows how bad this Devin White defense ( since he’s the captain LOL ) is … Average

  12. Jerseybuc Says:

What’s up with baker’s shoulder? Haven’t read anything about it

  13. Jerseybuc Says:

    Never mind. Just read something

  14. Citrus County Says:

Baker took a big hit on his left shoulder a few games back.

  15. Bucs96NYC Says:

I still don’t understand why we no longer press WRs. It’s like since BA left the aggressiveness has left kinda. The in your face defense has disappeared. We blitz w/ soft coverage & are shocked when it’s completed LOL.

High priced corners who can’t play press anymore SMH shame…

  16. ModHairKen Says:

Tryon is just not good. They should package him and Hainsey and D White and Stinnie and Dean and Davis and Neal and show them the door.

I blame Bowles and Canales for having them unprepared and unmotivated. I blame R. White and Palmer for failing to remember fundamental football. I blame Mayfield for not saying F this and making changes. I blame Hainsey for being a slovenly weak upright C. The pass rush was appalling.

Congratulations to letting everyone down. You all suck.

  17. Fred Says:

As soon as 9 and 23 get more PT we look like the team that lost 4 straight them boys aren’t good

  18. BucU Says:

This team sucks. Bowles is no defensive genius. He’s more of a defensive dunce.

  19. Since76 Says:

Tryon was jogging and uninterested in tackling every time I seen him today. I can only think it’s laziness. No other explanation for it.

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

Bud Licht needs to go with Bowles & Co.

  21. Jason m Says:

Get 9 23 and 45 off the damn field.

  22. Jason m Says:

    Palmer has zero ball security

  23. Jason m Says:

Our defense comes out flat every week and gives up points. Besides the jaguar game they are freaking god awful. Swiss cheese defense with a defensive mi ded head coach that has no impact on the offense and your defense led under you is 32 against the pass. Bowles gotta go.

  24. Craig Says:

    Preaching to the choir, Joe.

We know that he is worthless, and it has come up every week of this season.

The most obvious thing is that Hot Toddie doesn’t much care what we think. We just buy tickets and watch it on TV, therefore we have no say to him.

We saw it coming when he was drafted. He skipped his senior year of eligibility for COVID. That pretty well showed that his passion for the game is not strong in this one.

He hasn’t progressed either. I gave him some slack to get up to speed. He didn’t and the slack has turned into enough rope for…

  25. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Calling Joe the Strapon Shroyoinka a trans gender is insulting to transgender peoples. He should eat some Oreos with all their trans fats, maybe he’ll gain some wait

  26. Mike Johnson Says:

Bowles like the guy. When I saw he was starting, I was like, Come on Todd. Joe Tryon is done.

  27. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Oops don’t want the spell check police to ticket me, gain some weight

  28. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Who’s Antonio Winfield??? I know Antoine Winfield had one of his worst games as a Buc but he can’t do everything if the line can’t put ANY pressure within 3 seconds. It did suck seeing him suck in a way he never has

  29. Joe in Michigan Says:

There are a few guys on the defense who get playing time that shouldn’t be in the NFL…Today’s game reminded me of the playoff game vs. the Cowboys, Tight Ends were open most of the time (in the first half, anyway). I don’t believe Todd Bowles scheme works, if you make Derek Carr look like Joe Montana in his prime.

  30. Bigbucfan90 Says:

Need an edge rusher so bad it hurts. What have we been drafting the past couple years just a whole lotta rotational players. Please lord let us draft an edge rusher or get one in free agency. Do we know what the cap space is looking like for Tampa next season?

  31. Joe in Michigan Says:

Craig: I thought the same thing when Tryon sat out the season. I thought he’d be off the Bucs draft board, the early rounds, anyway. What happened to supposedly finding guys that love playing football?

  32. MadMax Says:

JTS aint done spit since the day he was drafted….Licht shouldve listened to me….I was saying Landon Dickerson the whole time….he went a few picks later…its in the archives….oh well

  33. Boltsfan17 Says:

Just another Licht 1st round bust. JTS is soft and doesn’t seem to like football all that much either. Roster is filled with USFL/XFL players. The stink of this roster starts with the GM.

  34. BuxfaninTX Says:

No one is giving “ Ring of Honor Licht” a pass today for JTS?
JTS… looks like an athlete, plays like a cheerleader

  35. JD12 Says:

The guy smells jock straps but we are ready to appoint the GM into the Ring of Honor. People need to stop drinking the GM Kool-Aid. Appointing Arians was a stupid move. That guy should be lucky that Brady graced his presents and saved his butt. Left Bowles in charge and we are into two seasons of mediocre football. Can Bowles, Canales and tell Arians he isn’t needed. Don’t love Licht but he’s probably the only thing worth saving in the luxury suites.

  36. teacherman777 Says:

    The haters have returned.

    You guys are sick.

The NFL is a tough league.

We lost to a decent football team.

    We had 4 turnovers.

    That’s why we lost.

    4 turnovers.

  37. tbc 1 Says:

White and Shrinking should both be benched-and next time we win the toss of a coin accept the kickoff. I agree whats with the corners giving up 10 yards before the play starts-is it illegal to bump them up to 5 yards if it is the saints did just that all game

  38. Confido75 Says:

JTS is soft like a few other players on this team. Draft blue collar dudes that have a nasty streak and stop with the, “they have talent and potential” garbage. JTS was weak mentally in college and that carried into the NFL. What a surprise! Half of the fan base could draft better than this clown show at OBP. These guys over complicate simple decisions that just require common sense.

  39. Sacker58 Says:

    @confido75
On point!,The Bucs are much better off without jts and D white on the field.
Give the start to guys who may not have the physical attributes but are twice as hungry.
Also,Dave Canales needs to call this offense WIDE OPEN. It’s the only way. Not enough steady run game . SCREENS ,AND QUICK HITTERS TO THE SLOT ,AND AN OCCASIONAL RUN.is the ticket.
If they don’t beat the panthers then I think bowles should go .Mediocrity socks.
This team has more talent than 75 pct of the teams in the NFL and they aren’t ready for a division winning game? Something gs very wrong.

  40. orlbucfan Says:

Hey fakers, do us actual fans a FAVOR, and get lost! You are as stupid as you write. Go harass a Pats site, yahoos.

  41. David Says:

JTS and D White MUST be gone.
SHAQ may very well be gone also because of salary. He is good, but not worth what they pay him.

Need a Center and a Guard (I assume Jensen is probably done).

    All about the trenches
