Vita Vea Has A Groin (Still); Signifcant Bucs Injuries Reported

October 24th, 2023

Troublesome injury.

Joe cannot help but think of the immortal words of former Bucs commander Greg Schiano.

(Hey, Schiano has Rutgers eligible to go bowling already. And it’s still October!)

Joe cannot remember the player’s name, but he was on an injury report. When Schiano was asked about the nature of the player’s injury, Schiano responded, “He has a groin.”

Well, Vita Vea still has a groin, just like yesterday. Last week Vea woke up one day with a bum foot. The injury, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said, did not come from anything in practice or a game. Vea just woke up one morning with a sore foot.

Joe hopes Vea just didn’t wake up yesterday morning with a groin. That might be painful if not embarrassing.

Vea has not practiced this week because of this mysterious groin.

Also not practicing today is left guard Matt Feiler who has a knee issue. Joe heard whispers today and it doesn’t sound great for Thursday for Feiler.

Baker Mayfield (knee) and Chris Godwin (neck) were limited today in practice. Mayfield said that his knee issue is more a pain tolerance thing.

    Everyone has a groin.

How good is the Bills’ defense? I have not watched them play this year and have not looked at the stats yet.

Remind me of Mayfield’s knee injury; was that on a run or sack?

  4. K_bassuka Says:

Maybefield out there setting up his excuses for his poor play of late.

  5. Baking with Canales Says:

Baker needs to rest. Put in Wolford.

Jack Burton Mercer – The Bills, as a whole, have been quite streaky. But the Bills defense goes between good and elite, depending on the week. They’ve been hurt by turnovers on the offense, and really that’s the only chance the Bucs have on Thursday, is to get like 4 turnovers and at least two defensive scores. If you can get 14 from the defense, and the normal 6-13 points from the offense, the Bucs might be able to stick around in the game.

  7. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Thanks.

14 from the defense is a tall order. What is this, 2002?

Well I have this game pegged as a 31-3 style Bucs blowout loss – so personally I think they’d need a miracle from the defense to have a chance.

To be clear, I don’t see that happening. But if the defense can get you 4 turnovers and 2 TDs, like the 2002 Bucs, then I think the Bucs can keep it close.

I always bring this up because I think it’s incredible, but Ben Bishop played the 2015 Stanley Cup Final with a TORN groin. Just think about how a goalie moves, has to do splits and stuff, how in the world can you play a series with a torn groin?

Also it’s Final, without an s. You’re not playing multiple finals, it’s one final that goes over 7 games.

  12. Hal Says:

I don’t understand the negative thinking about Baker. While I have never been a huge fan of his, without him our offense would not just be terrible like it currently is but downright putrid. A head coach over his head and an OC not any better than the one we fired is our biggest problem

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

The stars don’t seem like they are lining up for us on Thursday night…….

  14. SlyPirate Says:

We will probably lose if Vea plays.
We will definitely lose if Vea is out.

  15. Leighroy Says:

pewter941 for the win 😂 I’m just glad he (still) has it! What a weird (lazy?) habit the press and announcers alike have developed.

  16. D-Rok Says:

I woke up this morning with a lateral Grade II medulla oblongata strain, so I called in to work to say I’d be 10 minutes late. But I forgot what time it actually was, got up an hour earlier than normal, and arrived into work 37 seconds early.

    Injuries take a toll, man.

  17. DJB Says:

Well. . . Devin White does not have a sack.

That’s bad news on all of them, and especially Mayfield since he’s our top runner.

  20. Brandonbucc Says:

Just rest everyone. What do they get paid for anyway? Time to start selling all good players. Rebuild

  21. Brandonbucc Says:

I’m not even watching the slaughter fest that will happen Thursday against buffalo. 35-3 bills.

  22. steele Says:

I sincerely hope they all have groins.

  23. Winny Testaverde Says:

Vita Vea…along with Carlton Davis-Banks for Josh Allen. VV is an injury waiting to happen. His feet get sore because of his body type. Season is circling The Bowles.

  24. Bobby Says:

Vea is hurt, D.White is hurt, bet Evans still has a hamstring issue. Carlton Davis and Jamal Dean are usually hurt too. Baker is hurt too, probably still has the messed up shoulder and hand. Our core players are hurt too often on defense past few seasons. We are in for long season. Bucs are treading downward. Hope I’m wrong. Let’s Go Bucs!!

  25. Bobby Says:

Damn it’s do crazy, Bucs were 3-1 eleven days ago and we were talking playoff possibilities and Baker being our qb for the coming seasons. Now we are all looking as if this season trending downward in a hurry. The past 2 games were were that bad. Think this team has leadership problems too. Leaders aren’t keeping there teammates heads in it week in and week out.

  26. MikeS Says:

Not what we need right now.

  27. Charles E Bishop Says:

I have been a Bucs fan for as long as I can remember so why aren’t we worrying about things that matter like fixing our running game by trying to acquire an elite running back or why we can’t get pressure on the QB and get sacks and tackles for loss and step up in our man to man coverage by shutting them down before they get in the red zone don’t get me wrong our red zone D is phenomenal but Field Goals win games too isn’t that the reason we’re not in 1st place in our division right now? Somebody needs to kick Todd Bowles in the groin and remind him just because he’s the HC doesn’t mean that he’s still not the Defensive genius that actually won us our last Super Bowl apart from Tom Brady that is or is it time to cut our losses and start a new with another head coach the talent is definitely in Tampa it’s just figuring out who’s best to showcase the talent and utilize it! There’s more important things to be figuring out other than having a groin swinging contest cause that’s surely not going to be what brings a Championship to Tampa!

  28. jymijamz Says:

Why are they keeping baker in the pocket. Let the man play to his strengths. He had several opportunities to run against Atlanta but took a sack instead
