Warren Sapp Lauds Logan Hall, Shaq Barrett

September 21st, 2023

Starting Bucs defensive lineman Logan Hall.

No. 99 doesn’t show defensive linemen love unless they earn it. And apparently Logan Hall has.

Quietly, Hall leads Bucs D-linemen in total snaps this season and he’s been an anchor of Tampa Bay’s stout run defense, and he’s contributing to the Bucs’ healthy pass rush.

Warren Sapp, the iconic Bucs No. 99, took to The Rich Eisen Show this week to crow about the Bucs’ defense. He likes how all three levels are working together. He also sees a secondary showing up and linebackers communicating, and Sapp picked out a few standouts whose hands are in the dirt.

Sapp said he knew Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett was back when he watched the Week 1 Bucs-Vikings game and watched Shaq “slither out of an almost crack block.” Sapp said he’ll be sharing a film breakdown of that play soon on social media..

“Shaq is on a mission,” Sapp continued, adding the Bucs defense “almost blew my mind.”

On Hall, Sapp said “Logan is throwing people around inside.” And “Big Vita Vea is running on the screens.”

The Bucs have a healthy chance against the Eagles on Monday, Sapp said, and he’s not worried about the Bucs in New Orleans in Week 4.

“I don’t see it,” Sapp said of Eisen and others thinking the slimy Saints are a good team.

I’m conflicted: I need AJ Brown to do some stuff, but not TOO much stuff

  2. Pewter Power Says:

Sapp I don’t see it either. They’ve always had a good defense but that offense would be dominated by our defense

  3. K_bassuka Says:

The Defense has carried the team the first 2 weeks so far. I hope they can keep up the great work for the rest of the season.

  4. EternalSon Says:

Sapp is the dude. Cool to hear it from him

    Go Bucs!!

  5. Jeffbuc Says:

    Beej

You are not conflicted. If you are you’re not a true Bucs fan. Anyone that puts their imaginary fantasy team ahead of their favorite team isn’t a die hard fan. I’m pissed all week if we lose can’t listen to sports radio watch nfl network. Don’t even want to come to this site for a couple days. So screw your dilemma hope he gets a whopping -1 first play fumble.

  6. A Bucs Fan Says:

QB killa! Good to hear from him. Hope Kancey plays and does his best impression of him Monday night.

  7. SlyPirate Says:

Oh look, Sapp recognizes Hall is off to a great year. A lot of Bucs fans were blowing Hall up yesterday for no reason. Before you talk about a player, watch a game.

Here’s the cliff notes for the haters that don’t watch games …
JTS – Meh game 1. Great game 2. He’ll get +10 sacks this year.
Hall – Possibly our most consistent and best DL of the year. Vea makes splash plays.
Zyon – CDIII went out. Zyon was fantastic. Robbed of a brilliant INT.
Goedeke – Good and bad. Game 2 0 sacks, 1 QB hit. A few penalties. He’ll be good.
Baker – Doing great. 0 INTs. Best 3rd down QB in the league.

If you need to hate on players, and you do, our RBs and TEs are not the best. You can be disgruntled with those groups and get away with not looking ignorant.

  8. Snickerty snick Says:

BEEJ!!! Get the heck outa here with that AJ Brown crap. Stupid fantasy football. How can you pull against your team? Probably worry about the colors of their uniforms too. What is this world coming to?

  9. orlbucfan Says:

Did Sapp ever get his $$$ problems cleared up? I never cared but I heard plenty of stories about his being an obnoxious yahoo to fans trying to meet him. I met Lee Roy Selmon back in the Stone Age, and he was one class act. So, Sapp could have canned the butthole surfer act around the fans. I bet he is tickled pink over the Defense this season. Shaq Barrett deserves every accolade he gets cos that man has been through holy family h3ll. Of course, he’s on a mission and his supporting cast is helping big time. Go Mighty Bucs MN!

  10. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Sly you’re too emotional over this Hall thing. I know what I commented yesterday and I stand by it. Hall was drafted to be the 3-technique and he’s no longer playing there. He’s a high second round pick that has been replaced by a UDFA try out player and Kancey (hopefully he gets well soon) at 3-tech. The good news is he seems to have developed into a quality 5-tech this year.

There’s a big difference between what I wrote and what you’re implying that I believe he’s a bad football player… at least for me that is just not true.

  11. Durango 95 Says:

In year where the team has so many challenges w/ the cap being forced to use so many young players. Jason Licht has really been put to the test. And he is knocking it out of the park.

  12. Steven007 Says:

Beej, I have to side with Jeff and others here too. It’s the reason I no longer play fantasy football. I would be at games with friends and fellow Bucs fans and they would be hoping that we won the game while their player on the opposing team got as many yards and touchdowns as possible and it drove me crazy (because of their player on the other team is doing so well it usually meant that we weren’t going to win). I can’t play fantasy for that reason. Never going to root for the other players while they’re playing my team.

  13. zzbucs Says:

    @SlyPirate…

Why would you need to hate a player?

    I would you hate Otton?
    I would you hate White?

Sorry I just don´t get it!

  14. SufferingSince76 Says:

I hate to admit it, but I’m with Jeffbuc. I’m not p*ssed all week, but I am for a few days. I can’t watch the sports shows, either. I’m hoping next Tuesday is a good day for Buc fans. Ticked at the Rays for falling out of first place in the American League East, too.

  15. Todd Rolls Says:

    LA Knight Yeah

  16. HC Grover Says:

For the Filthy Eagles we need the Triple SPY D.

  17. Dave Pear Says:

99 is almost always spot on. I have to eat crow on Logan Hall. Good crow too. Tastes like chicken only rubbery, gamey and rancid.

  18. Caleb Says:

Hall is doing better getting some pressure on passing downs but is getting absolutely worked in the run game. He will be a major liability when we have good offensive lines and running attacks.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

But some of the morons posting here told me Hall has been awful this year. Who to believe?!?

  20. I might be crazy but Says:

orlbucfan Says: Selmon was a class act.

Years ago, after Leroy had retired, my wife booked him as a speaker for a function. His fee was $9000. Sounds like but he had the fee cancelled and instead the money was donated to the University of South Florida. Athletic Dept. I believe.

  21. Fansince76 Says:

Always great to hear what Sapp has to say on the Bucs!
lets hope he can coach up Hall some!

  22. Beej Says:

I mean, the guy can get some unproductive yards with no touchdowns….

  23. bucsfan951 Says:

“I’m conflicted: I need AJ Brown to do some stuff, but not TOO much stuff”

why dont you grab a bud light while putting on your makeup and think real hard on that one.

  24. Beej Says:

    Lol

  25. Infomeplease Says:

Good to see Hall and JTS playing better this season. The team needs them to continue to produce for 15 + more games!!

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Sheesh…you guys really came down hard on Beej. LOL

If the man/woman enjoys fantasy football, let them. He isn’t wishing for the Bucs to lose…he’s hoping for his fantasy team to win.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Mind you, I no longer play fantasy football (have not for years…too much going on), but I get that people enjoy it. It’s part of the game.

  27. unbelievable Says:

I was gonna clown on Beej but it looks like that’s been taken care of already lol

  28. Eckwood Says:

Rather than have conflict during the Bucs game wait til it’s over
And just get a Beej !! Fantasy Problem Solved !!

  29. Beeej Says:

Well they’re BOUND to complete SOME passes….just make sure they ALL go to AJ Brown….

  30. Capt.Tim Says:

Both JTS and Hall are playing much better.
I couldnt be happier- I hope they keep it up!

  31. TampabayDJ Says:

    Bucsfan955 – LMFAO! Agree 💯

  32. garro Says:

Sapp said it Hall. Now go out and prove him right! Don’t want to piss the big man off.

    Go Bucs!

  33. Wild Bill Says:

I guess lots of people have a negative Sapp story. While he was still on the team, I went for lunch at a Dale Mabry restaurant. My server told me I had just missed an ugly incident. A little girl had approached Sapp for his autograph and Sapp made an ugly refusal and sent the little girl off crying. Nice guy eh?
