Throwing Against The Bears

September 17th, 2023

Can Mike Evans exploit?

The way people were glossing Packers quarterback Jordan Love last week, Joe thought Green Bay totally torched the Bears through the air. Not so.

Joe looked it up. Love was just OK. Sure, he threw three touchdowns, but he barely completed 50 percent of his passes and only threw for 245 yards.

It seems one Bears cornerback had a very good day against Green Bay. Per Seth Walder of BSPN, a guy who never met a number he didn’t like, Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson had a strong Week 1.

Per NextGen Stats by way of Walder, Johnson was close to a lockdown corner last week. He allowed 13 yards over 27 coverage snaps.

Sounds good, but who was he defending? It’s not like the Packers have Davante Adams any longer.

Today might be different for Mr. Johnson. The Bucs will come at him with two of the better receivers in the game, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

If Johnson holds Evans and/or Godwin to limited yards while covering the Bucs’ stud duo, then we can start talking about Johnson being a lockdown corner.

Need to be aggressive on Offense and get a lead and not let Chi hang around.

  2. BUCS SQUAT WITH MOXIE Says:

i looked at the bears schedule, and early it’s somewhat rough, especially if we whoop some azz today…

but then i see them bouncing back to a heroic 7-10- or 6-11 record on the season…lol

that’s a successful year for da bears deez daze

  4. garro Says:

    START FAST!
    That is all.

    Go Bucs!

  5. Defense Rules Says:

garro … I agree (start fast). Bears are not built to come from behind (Fields has only ONE 4th qtr comeback in 2 years of starting).

I don’t miss Leftwich’s stupid lost look on the sidelines.

    Just sayin’.

  7. NE Fan Says:

Run up the middle on 1st down, lose a yard then run it outside on 2nd down, play for the 3rd & 11, helped them win the South last season. GO BOWELS, GO BUCS!!

  8. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

Go gurgle on someone else’s balls Brady boi

  9. stpetebucfan Says:

Just play with the same ENERGY and DESIRE as last week and have fun!

  10. NE Fan Says:

Jeffs Grandpa@, the aide in your rehab center let you ay with a tablet early. They should probably put parental control on it before they let children play with it.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

He may be good but he can’t cover him both.

  12. orlbucfan Says:

There’s been some verbal flapping on here about both Ko Kieft’s and Joe Otton’s pass catching. Well, both can catch especially Otton. Canales knows it better than anyone ‘cept Bowles and Licht. That will give him more options to get the attention off the Dynamite All-Star Duo (I hope). Go Mighty Bucs!!

  13. NE Fan Says:

Oralsuc, you came up with this theory how? Ko Kieft went 7 for 10 last season and 0 for 3 in game one 2023. I’m surprised he us still on the field. He is NOT a receiving TE, he is really a pulling guard playing TE.

  14. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

I’d like to see our 1st play on offense be a fake handoff to White and Trey Palmer blazing down the sideline after a quick sell move and go.

This would probably count as a “trick play” since everyone and their mamas would expect a run up the middle. Lol

As Moss used to say “chuck it deep, dawg” and let the kid go get it. Worst case scenario (aside from a pick of course) you give the Bears something to worry about when they see the kid’s speed in person. Might be enough to pull a deep safety his way later to free up ME13. Can’t double cover everyone and speed is a zone-killer.

Hey NE Fan, How does that O’fer taste? Aint NE zero dash one? Or are they One dash zero like the Bucs? Belichick has a new warm fuzzy need after his main squeeze and him separated. There is always hope for ya NE, maybe you can snuggle together in the hoodie after the next game..

I thought you said you were leaving after Tom Brady left? YOu missed us is that what it is? NE we do have room on the bandwagon if you want to jump on.

    GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!

  16. NE Fan Says:

Rusty, you take a lot of pride in a near win against the current WORST team in the league. Yes Patriots are 0-1 and potentially going to be 0-2 after the Miami game. They lost to the current FIRST place and could lose to the team that put up the leagues best offensive numbers last week. So what I would say to you is beat Philly and or Miami before you pound your chest for 0-2 Minn and POSSIBLY 0-1 lousy Bears. Bucs fans are the worst, a 1-0 fair weather fan.

  17. BucU Says:

Big game for both teams even though it’s game 2.
Get the win by any means necessary.

  18. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

NEfan- serious question, why are you on this site? You are not a Bucs fan and only talk crap. That’s what trolls do. Is that really who you what to be? Aspire for better.

  19. Bucsalltheway Says:

Aaron Jones opened up the passing atk for green bay his runs was stellar but when you have r.white who can’t get going he makes us one dimensional…where playoff Lenny at is his lisfranc injury healed yet lol

74@ last I heard opinions mean something in this country, though every waking day many are trying to eliminate the freedom if speech amendment to promote their own narrative and or bias. As I recently posted, if the Bucs go 3-0 I will vanish from this site like those before me, Medicated Pete@, Rita Monroe@ Ben Green@ Reedemer@ etc. Until then I will share my thoughts to those that care to read them. On the record I am a big fan of many of the Bucs players and enjoy hearing/seeing them succeed.
