Chase Edmonds Expected To Miss Two Games

September 18th, 2023

Injury update.

UPDATED 4:23 pm.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles spoke this afternoon in his day-after presser, where fans got no more light shined on the knee injury to running back Chase Edmonds. However, an NFL insider reported Edmonds is out for a month, maybe longer.

Jordan Schultz reports Edmonds has an MCL sprain and will likely miss at least four weeks. It’s possible, Schultz types, that Edmonds may be placed on injured reserve.

However, Bowles dropped more details during his afternoon visit to SiriusXM NFL Radio.

“He’s got a sprained knee. He’s probably going to be out a couple of weeks,” Bowles said of Edmonds.

If Edmonds misses four weeks, it would cary him through the Week 5 bye.

In the very short time Edmonds toted the rock yesterday, he broke out a 14-yard run and seemed to give the Bucs’ ground game a needed spark.

Joe has already speculated about the Bucs maybe trading for Cam Akers or calling free agent Kareem Hunt. With Edmonds out for the foreseeable future and the Bucs needing a running back, Joe thinks Akers, who the Rams are shopping, could be had cheap since he’s on a rookie contract and in a contract year.

Playoff Lenny is sitting on his couch. Kareem Hunt also. but what kind of shape would they be in?

  2. Boss Says:

about the best we could have expected. get well soon!

we do need another back now.

hopefully RW will light it up seeing this opportunity. not that he wants others to get hurt, but you know what I mean. Edmonds was just as much starting to cast a shadow when white was having trouble. if ever there was a time for RW its now.

  3. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Kareem Hunt sounds great… runs hard every time he has a touch!! Good experience. Go Bucs.

  4. HC Grover Says:

    Prepare for Laird

  5. Rod Munch Says:

    RONNIE BROWN TIME!

  6. K2 Says:

Cam Arkers for Ke’Shawn Vaughn even trade???

  7. Woodenman Says:

Opportunity what the hell you talking about R.White is already the lead back he is getting all the Opportunity he can handle. Boss we do need a back to give a breather or in case he is injured.

  8. A Bucs Fan Says:

That’s why he only had 300k guaranteed this year. He’s a good player when healthy but that’s been his biggest challenge in recent years.

It’s time for Sneak to hold on to the football or the Bucs need to sign a back or trade for a back…. Preferably not pouting Cam Akers.

  9. Leighroy Says:

It’s now or never for Sneak

  10. Fred McNeil Says:

I sure would hate to give up a draft pick for a used running back. What are the Rams even asking for?

  11. Jaybuc Says:

Coach Bowles said it’s unlikely we’re bringing in another RB. Which I understand because you want to save cap space even though we can afford a vet minimum contract, but you should always be looking to fill in gaps on the roster as they happen.

  12. Buc50 Says:

Definitely no on Lenny. He pouts too much for this team full of rookies.

  13. Randy Says:

    Pay Mike

  14. Buc4evr Says:

Would like to see Sneak play. If he can’t get it done than Hunt or Ackers.

  15. SB~LV Says:

    Ronnie Brown ?

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Leonard Fournette

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Leonard Fournette is reliable. Buc50, I don’t know where you get your information, but he was a leader for the Buccaneers.

  18. David Says:

They have White & Tucker as 1&2.
I do not see that changing.
They have a very capable third string in Vaughn.

I do not see them signing hunt or Lenny… Those guys do not want to be second or third string.

Plus the Bucs have a little wiggle room with the cap but not much. There is no reason to go spending it at this moment.

  19. Navfree17 Says:

    Sean Tucker??

  20. CChead Says:

James Robinson is out there for cheap.

  21. Ft Myers Dave Says:

    Ronnie Brown!

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

    We want Playoff Lenny!!!

  23. Brandon Says:

Playoff Lenny can keep his slow no balance having self on the couch. Nobody wants him except fans that know nothing except name recognition. The dude has been lousy over 2/3 of his career.

  24. Bucsmarley Says:

Play sneak. He’s angry and has something to prove

  25. Iamabuc Says:

No to Lenny…knowing his off-season eating habits, he should be about 300 pounds already…LOL

  26. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Bring in someone who already knows this offense.

  27. Marine Buc Says:

I’m sorry but the Bucs running back group is far below mediocre…

Vaughn doesn’t belong in the NFL.

    White is mediocre at best.

Sean Tucker was looking good until his horrible performance against the Bears.

I understand the offensive line is also responsible but if you are a running back in the NFL YOU WILL NEED TO BREAK A TACKLE ONCE IN A WHILE…

I would be fine with bringing in a cheap option like Hunt or trading a low pick for Cam Akers at this point – especially with Edmonds being out for the next month or two.

It is difficult to run the play-action pass plays when the defense doesn’t respect your run game.

  28. Lt. Dan Says:

One of the astute JBF posters (sorry I forgot your handle) pointed out that Baker Mayfield and Kareem Hunt had some friction between them in Cleveland. Seems like I recall that too. If that is the case, then don’t bring Hunt in. Baker is starting to shine – let’s not upset the apple cart.

  29. CleanHouse Says:

    Hey Brandon,
Fournette was a stud in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl when it counted.
    Your comment is dumb1

  30. Pewter Power Says:

If only Want to sign someone if I believe we were a playoff team. When chase Edmonds comes back then what? Sneak has been here for 4 years if you’re going to bring in someone else then why is he taking up a roster spot?

  31. gotbbucs Says:

There’s a reason Edmonds has been floating around the last three years.

Absolutely not for Leonard Fournette. Good lord people. The guy asked to be released from this team. We do not need his kind around here. He is a mercenary, that crap runs off on other players.

  32. IE Buc Says:

Elevate Laird from the practice squad. Give Vaughn and Laird some reps. Sign Ronnie Brown to practice squad.

  33. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Bonzai

Leonard Fournette literally bet on himself and walked away from the Bucs. He could’ve still been on the team if he wanted, I HIGHLY doubt the Bucs would welcome him back.

  34. Toad Bowels Says:

    1. Pancake Lenny is probably not 🚭 n shape unless it is to challenge Joey Chestnut for the Nathans Hot Dog eating championship belt.
    2. Kareem Hunt has old legs and if he and Baker didn’t mesh then why go there?
    3. Cam Akers can’t stay off the injury list.

That leaves Sneak, Patrick Laird and Ronnie Brown.
Put Chase on some sort of injury list, promote Laird And sign Ronnie Brown to the practice squad. Use this time to see if Sneak and Laird can contribute with Ronnie Brown waiting in the bullpen if one or both don’t pan out.

See if the Bears game was just a fluke for Sean Tucker or if not move him to the practice squad to coach him up some more

  35. unbelievable Says:

Well I’m pretty sure the Browns are gonna give Kareem Hunt whatever he wants after what just happened… oof.

  36. Stylez05 Says:

Rojo was released earlier today. Bring him back to Tampa!!

  37. Toad Bowels Says:

    Rojo??? Not in my Dojo!

    Ronnie Brown, come on down!

  38. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Tbbucs3 Says
“Leonard Fournette literally bet on himself and walked away from the Bucs. He could’ve still been on the team if he wanted, I HIGHLY doubt the Bucs would welcome him back.”

Players do that all of the time. It is part of the business. The Bucs would not hold it against him at all.

The whole reason he came to the team in the first place was to prove he can still play, and he did.

He was a good influence. Not a bad one.

You don’t want him back, that’s fine. Say so if you want a younger guy to get a chance or whatever…but try to make him look like a bad influence over wanting to get a deal.

There is nothing wrong with betting on yourself (outside of the gambling aspect).

  39. Rod Munch Says:

I liked Rojo, but something happened to him that last year here, he was a different guy, just didn’t run the same, looked disinterested. No idea what it was, but the fact he’s been bouncing around after that great 2020 season, it’s disappointing.

  40. BucU Says:

I thought Rashaad White would be better than we’ve seen so far this season.
A huge game against the Eagles would be a good time to turn it on and make some noise.
