Chase Edmonds On Injured Reserve

September 20th, 2023

Status update.

Running back Chase Edmonds was placed on injured reserve today.

On Monday, rumors broke that Edmonds, who injured his knee in Sunday’s win over the Bears, would miss four games. Bucs coach Todd Bowles then told Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller on “Movin’ the Chains,” heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, that Edmonds would miss two games.

Now Edmonds will miss at least four. Per NFL rules, if Edmonds is “designated to return,” he will be out no less than four games.

In the Bucs’ official release announcing this move, it was not specified if Edmonds would be designated to return.

Sneak your up. Please don’t prove me wrong

  2. Marine Buc Says:

    Gio Bernard Jr…

Why do we keep hiring older RBs that are constantly on IR?

Can we please stop doing this?

This guy only played 5 games in 2022 and only played 8 games in 2021. He missed 5 games in 2020.

  3. JimBobBuc Says:

Tough news for Edmunds and the Bucs. Prior to his injury, he did really well on his too-few touches. I was wondering if his avg/rush was due to Chase or the run plays Canales called for him?

  4. Salary Cap Hell Says:

sneak needs to play like his hair is on fire….

  5. Baking with Canales Says:

Let’s get Cam Akers in here. He has experience with similar offensive schemes.

Until then keep chopping that wood. LFG!!!!!

  6. Boss Says:

    OH SNAP!

work some majic licht. I personally think we need a BIG BACK…not like lenny……more like the one Atlanta had….little bowling ball that could.

  7. BucU Says:

Edmunds is like the Julio Jones signing. Hurt right from the get go. And what’s the status of Russell Gage aka Callijah Kancey?

  8. Dan Says:

    BUCS EL STINKO

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jensen, Gage, Edmonds…….concerned about Kancey, Davis…..injuries starting to mount.

  10. pewter941 Says:

Sneak need to put up or get cut.

  11. Gofortheface30 Says:

Kancey and Davis is what we care about. What was their designation today

  12. Dwayne Cone Says:

Hunt’s off the Market. Problems with Cleveland were strictly business or dollars and cents. Bridge wasn’t burned. Maybe a little singed but leaving a way back.
Got two weeks off and a raise.

  13. SlyPirate Says:

IT’S FINALLY TIME!!!! … to add Vea to the RB room. Need a yard. Get a yard. Plus, destroy a LB.

  14. Marine Buc Says:

    Gofortheface30

Davis, Kancey and Dennis are all listed as “questionable”.

  15. Pewter Power Says:

Sneak needs to play like he wants a contract somewhere next year

  16. Bubby Says:

    What about playoff Lenny?

  17. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

Yeah. They didn’t call him playoff Lenny cause he didn’t get us in the playoffs ya know….
    He’s the real deal

  18. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

I could’ve told you that Edmonds would get injured. He always does. Every year it seems.

  19. Voice of Truth Says:

Depth is going to continue to be an issue – think about TE1 going down – we barely have 1 decent TE….

RB room is thin as paper

  20. SufferingSince76 Says:

Folks forget the Bucs are operating on a “shoestring” budget. They can only afford cheap right now.

  21. Buc4evr Says:

Put Sneak in and re-sign RoJo. When Edmonds gets back, then the Bucs can decide who to keep.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

    The Bucs transaction page says:

Signed DL Patrick O’Connor to the active roster from the practice squad.

So there you go, no RB being signed – and why bother signing a guy if Vaughn has just been inactive anyways. You can get a RB off the street and pretty much play them instantly in any case, so no need to tie up an extra roster spot.

  23. MadMax Says:

Akers has been traded to the vikings

  24. Gofortheface30 Says:

    Marine – thank you

  25. MadMax Says:

@Sly, yeah and then he gets a cheap shot injury like Chubb got….dont think so. Only blocking as a FB in goal line situations if we do it.

  26. MAtthew Says:

Curious if the Chiefs would make Edwards-Helaire available??

  27. MadMax Says:

Hahaha, Aints Safety marcus maye suspended for 3 games for violating substance abuse policy…he has the 3rd most tackles on the team …. so we get this iggles win, then comes a very likely Aints win!

  28. BillyBucco Says:

I honestly think our issues with running the ball are more in house issues.
I know Christian McCaffrey is a rare bread, but if you watch them play, MOST of his runs are a pitch toss. You know so he can out leverage the LB.
When the Bucs pitched the ball to White he had good yards.
We have a true 4.3 back in Sean Tucker and to my knowledge, he hasn’t been pitched the ball yet.
    Why?
Now I have only seen a couple to White but dang, we act like both of them can’t catch.
Makes me wonder if Todd doesn’t like that because it DOES lead to mishandled balls that become turnovers?
We absolutely HAVE to run the ball against Philly. I don’t care what it looks like, but if there are any plays Canales is saving, time to unleash them.

  29. BillyBucco Says:

Another thing I noticed is that when you play a team that you think is going to struggle because said team doesn’t have an ELITE QB, you flood the box and make them pass.
If you watch the game Minnesota played against us, and then watch their light 6 and 7 man boxes against Philly, it’s no wonder Swift had a career game.
I’m fine with 2 TE sets if both TEs can block, but ours cant. Time to start spreading teams out with more WRs, so less guys are in the box.
    Has anyone else noticed this?
I mean it’s really not rocket science.

  30. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    That’s bad news for Chase.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is ‘Sneak?’

  31. garro Says:

I’m with you on that last comment Billy

We do not seem to have the hosses to run right at 7 and 8 man boxes. Few do.

Canales now is the time to show some creativity and mix up some formations and play action. Spread Philly out and gouge em for some big plays.

    Go Bucs!

  32. garro Says:

Sneak is Vaughn’s Nick name Bonzai

    Go Bucs!

  33. Fred McNeil Says:

I’m glad to hear Ackers went to the Vikqueens.
Now I don’t have to read cries begging to sign him. The guy stinks.

  34. Fred McNeil Says:

Ackers…sounds like something Bill the cat would say.

  35. BucsFanSince76 Says:

Maybe an astute journalist should bring this up.
Ronald Jones is available and a good runner. Licht could sign Jones for the minimum.
